Chapter 93: Composure
"You know what to do." A slow, knowing smirk spread across her face. she sauntered away, leaving Dennis standing there, breathless and in need.
He ran a hand down his face, trying to gather the last of his shredded composure.

Ava squeezed her eyes shut, willing herself to think of Lucas. Maybe if she imagined his hands on her, his lips claiming hers, the unbearable heat flooding her body would lessen. Maybe she wouldn’t feel like she was about to come undone at the seams.
She clenched her thighs together, her breath coming in shallow gasps. Willow... Willow, please. She called to her wolf, but the animal was quiet and beyond reason, lost in instinct and need.
"Ava?"
Her eyes flew open. For a heartbeat, she dared to hope. "Lucas?"
"No... no, Ava. It’s me. Dennis."
Ava swallowed the lump of disappointment in her throat. What had she been expecting? That Lucas would suddenly be standing there, drawn to her, finally realizing that she was his? That fate, for once, would be kind?
She turned her face away from the door. "Go away," she murmured.
Dennis hesitated. He could hear the strain in her voice, the unspoken plea tangled in her words. He stood there, war raging inside him. The moment he had scented her heat, his wolf, buried deep for a decade, had howled in response.
For so long, he had kept himself in check. After what happened with his mother, he had sworn never to let his beast out. But Ava was shattering him.
He stepped inside before he could stop himself.
Ava lay curled on the bed, her face flushed, her body trembling with need. Even in the dim light, she was beautiful. Not yours, his mind screamed. But in that moment, she wasn’t just Lucas’s mate. She was a woman in pain, trapped in a torment only another wolf could understand.
He exhaled sharply and ran a hand through his hair. "Damn it," he muttered under his breath before kicking the door shut behind him.
Ava turned her head slightly, her heavy-lidded eyes searching his face. "What are you doing?" she asked breathlessly.
"Just trust me," Dennis said. "It’s not much, but it should help."
Ava blinked up at him. "Help how?"
Dennis hesitated, then stepped toward the bed. His entire body was wound tight, every muscle straining against the primal urge rising in his chest. He climbed onto the mattress behind her, settling himself cautiously.
Her body went still.
"Whatever happens, Ava," he said lowly, "don’t turn around. Don’t look at me."
She nodded. She was too far gone to care about why.
He let out a slow breath, wrapping an arm around her waist, pulling her back against his chest. The second their bodies touched, a deep shudder ran through him. She was fire against his skin, her scent wrapping around him. His fingers flexed involuntarily against her stomach.
Ava sucked in a sharp breath.
Dennis gritted his teeth. Stay in control. Stay in control.
"You have to do this yourself," he forced out. "I’m just here... as a prop. Okay?"
Ava hesitated before nodding again.
"Now close your eyes," he instructed, his lips brushing her ear. She shivered. "Imagine Lucas." His throat burned as he said it. "Now... touch yourself."
She stiffened.
After a long pause, Ava exhaled shakily and hesitantly let her hand drift downward.
Dennis fought to keep his breathing steady as he felt her movements through their connected bodies. He squeezed his eyes shut, digging his fingers into her hip.
She let out a soft moan.
Dennis’s entire body tensed.
He fought to stay still, to ignore the way her body trembled, to pretend he couldn’t hear the wet, sinful sounds of her fingers working between her thighs.
Ava, lost in the haze of heat, let herself go. In her mind, it was Lucas touching her, whispering to her, guiding her movements. She arched slightly, pressing back against Dennis’s erection.
His control cracked.
He let out a low, guttural growl, his free hand shooting up to grab the headboard for restraint. He was losing.
Ava whimpered, her body tightening, her fingers working faster, the tension building inside her unbearable. She clung to the fantasy of Lucas, picturing his body over hers, his lips against her skin.
Dennis’s breath hitched as her climax ripped through her. The way she moaned sent a violent shudder through him.
He had to get out of there.
With a sharp inhale, Dennis tore himself away from her, rolling off the bed. He landed hard on his knees, his hands slamming against the floor as he fought to rein in his wolf.
His breathing was ragged, his vision dark around the edges. His wolf clawed against his control, howling, raging.
Two days with this woman, and ten years of self-control was unravelling into nothing.
Ava, still coming down from her high, barely registered the absence of his weight until she heard his strangled breaths. She turned her head slightly, peeking over her shoulder.
Dennis was on the floor, his hands gripping his head, his entire body trembling with restraint.
A stab of guilt twisted in her chest. "Dennis?"
"Don’t," he rasped. "Just... don’t."
She swallowed, suddenly too aware of what had just happened. Of who it had happened with.
Dennis let out one last steadying breath before forcing himself to stand.
"Get some rest," he muttered. "You should be a bit better at least."
Then, without another word, he walked out.
Ava stared at the door long after it had closed.
Her heart pounded.
Not from the heat.
But from the fact that, she felt guilt.

The moment Leon found out who had taken the documents from the archive, his stomach dropped.
He was currently standing in the middle of a goddamn forest, right at the boundary line, waiting for Kade at the exact spot they had met last time.
Leon sighed heavily.
A rustling sound made him straighten. His pulse quickened as Kade emerged from the darkness, his tall figure shrouded in a hoodie.
Kade stopped a few feet away, his piercing gaze locking onto Leon. "Well?"
@okay guys! I am kind of liking Dennis as I write about him. and now, I am staring at the plot of this book and planning to throw it in the fire and just have me some yummy Dennis all the way.
