Chapter 67: OH, IT’S A GRANNY

The woman body kept on shaking like she was about to break as she handed the bag to Kyoto, although her skin was so old and wrinkly, it was surprisingly strong when Kyoto made contact with her as she collected the bag.

Shino took the second bag while Mion carried the girls’ schoolbags for them.

"There won’t be any buses tonight. Tell us where you live, we could help you get there" Shino offered.

The old woman nodded and point down the road. "Not too far from here"

The girls were surprised because it was opposite the direction there were heading, but it wasn’t a big deal since they had known a woman who lived close to their school, she was said to be nice.

"Do you live in the cottage by the road?" Shino asked.

"The old woman nodded. "That’s it"

"Well, it isn’t too far from here, so I guess we can carried your stuffs for you" Kyoto said.

As they walked to towards the cottage, the sky was getting darker and soon nothing could be seen except the street lights and the city lights in a distance.

"So what were you girls doing at school by this time of the night?" The old woman asked again.

"We could have said the same to you?" Mion replied and Shino quickly kicked her from behind. "What!"

"Don’t mind her. We’ve just been busy at school" Shino giggled.

"But it’s pretty late, what if you were attached by a demon?" The old woman said. Kyoto almost froze again. "I lost my son to a demon almost thirty years ago"

"I... I’m sorry to hear that" Kyoto manages to say.

"It’s nothing, he was always leaving the house late at night and one day..."

"What did you buy?, You seem to have a lot of things with you" Shino interrupted after she realized that Kyoto was starting to freak out.

"Just some foodstuffs and sweets, in case I see any children nice enough to help me. You can have some if you want, it in the bag"

Mion rushed toward Shino and tried to put her hand in it but Shino stopped her. "We’re fine"

"Don’t worry, I insist" The old woman insisted and Mion quickly dragged the bag from Shino.

"She said it okay" Mion said and dipped her hand in the bag and suddenly screamed and threw the bag. "Wahh~!!!"

Kyoto and Shino quickly turned to their friend who was still screaming in pain. The bag fell on the ground, but nothing was in it except some bloodstains, looking at Mion again, the girls noticed a human head.

No, it was a demon without a body.

Kyoto and Shino froze in shock while Mion struggles to pull her arm out of the bodiless demon’s mouth till she finally did. The demon’s head fell on the ground and rolled towards the old woman who was laughing.

The bodiless demon laughed. "Give me more!, I want more!!" The demon suddenly grew a hand underneath it’s head and stood up. "Let me devour your tasty flesh"

Shino darted towards Mion and held her hand, pulling her back to the road that led to the school. "Kyoto!, Run!!!!"

Kyoto who was still frozen in place was suddenly brought back to reality, her legs quickly responded even though her brain hadn’t completely understand what was happening.

The old woman dash after them, running a little bit too fast for someone her age. The bodiless demon jumped and held on to her arm.

Shino led the girls back to the school and they ended up in the nurse’s office.

"We need to cover it up or else the demon will find us" Shino informed, she turned to Kyoto. "Hand me the band..."

Kyoto was coiled up in the corner of the bed. "We are going to die, We are going to die, We are going to die, We are going to die, We are going to die"

Shino teared a sleeve from her uniform and tied it around Mion hand then walked to Kyoto and hugged her. "We are not going to die. You, Mion and I are going to get out of here alive, okay?"

Kyoto nodded slowly, but deep inside, she knew they were doom.

"Come out, come out wherever you are~. I promise I won’t hurt you~"

The demons voice sounded an alert to them that they were not safe. Kyoto was about to cry but Shino covered her mouth and tries to console while Mion kept staring at her missing right hand.

"De...Demons are real, I-it bit off my hand. Am I going to turn into a demon!?. Ahhhh!. I’m going to turn into a demon!!!" Mion suddenly screamed. "I’m going to turn into a demon!, What if I eat my family?!, What if I eat my friends?!"

Shino tried to stop Mion from screaming at the same time trying to console Kyoto, their voices echoed through the hallway and soon the demon...

"You girls think you can hide from me?!!" The old woman asked as she smashed through the door. "I hate stubborn children. Come to me so I can feed you to my son!!!"

"wahhhh!!!! Ahhhh!!!" Kyoto scrammed on the sight of the demon.

The bodiless came into the room, running on it’s little fingers. "I going to gobble the loud one first!" He said and lunched at Kyoto.

Kyoto wanted to stand, she wanted to run but her legs just wouldn’t listen to her, she screamed as she saw the demon jumping towards her. Then suddenly a chair flew by her face and before she realize it, the bodiless demon smashed through the window and flew out of the building.

"No!!!, My son" the old woman ran after it and jumped out of the window.

Shino threw the chair on the floor and grabbed Kyoto and Mion hands and ran out of the office and towards the exit.

"We can do it!, We can make it out alive!. We’ll make it out alive!!!"
