Chapter 4682: Chapter 758: Doomsday (14)
The Skrulls and the Kree Empire, though injured, have not had their actions restricted. Thor seems unconcerned about them gathering intelligence here. From what they can currently see of Asgard’s situation, the scenario is extremely bizarre.
Asgard has not mobilized troops.
This is the strangest part. Because in the eyes of the Three Great Empires, the human race being injured is a minor issue, but Asgard losing face is a major one.
They know that the human race is dangerous, but when more than a dozen on the opposing side have died and not a single one of theirs has, in terms of loss ratio, it’s a complete victory and can be bragged about in any corner of interstellar space. Even if that’s Magneto’s daughter, at most it’ll be Magneto seeking revenge alone. Does Earth really think it can simultaneously go to war with the Three Great Empires?
As stated before, Asgard couldn’t even confront the Three Great Empires head-on, so how could Earth possibly do it? Though you have many strong individuals, facing almost infinite troops from the Three Great Empires, who will hold the front line? If the line can’t be held, then a decapitation tactic is futile, isn’t it?
So in the eyes of the Three Great Empires, the main threat this time is still Asgard. Having such a major incident occur on their territory, with the Shi’ar Empire not only refusing to apologize but declaring war instead, is akin to disrespecting the Divine King. Who could tolerate that?
Yet now Asgard is engulfed in an eerie calm: no troop movements, no war rally, not even the star ships have been activated. Thor hasn’t even appeared in interstellar space. What are these brash warriors planning?
The Skrull General Kart wasn’t too injured, but he knew it wasn’t the time to wander around, at most taking a look outside from the hospital balcony. He got up early today, intending to see if anyone was at the opposite training ground. If anyone was training, Asgard might be preparing to act.
He opened the balcony door and stepped out. The training ground remained calm. From this angle, he could see a corner of the backyard: lush trees and blooming flowers. The Fairy Palace seemed as peaceful as ever, as if nothing had happened.
"Something’s not right, something’s very not right." Holding a cup of energy drink, he said to his adjutant, "If Odin were here, even if it was just overnight, the army would have already set out. What game is Thor playing?"
The adjutant shook his head and said, "No one knows, sir. Since he took over, Asgard hasn’t been at war again. It’s unclear what his ruling style is."
"That’s odd," Kart said, "He was quite renowned when he was a prince. Leading charges and blocking foes. Sometimes even when Odin retreated, he didn’t. He was the most reckless of Asgard’s brash warriors. How did he change so quickly upon taking the throne?"
"Sir, I heard he has a brother, the deceitful God of Mischief, Loki. Perhaps Loki dissuaded his brother from acting rashly. But anyway, it’s a good thing for us. Even if Asgard could indeed inflict significant damage on the Shi’ar Empire, if things continue to escalate, none of us will be able to stay out of it."
"The Skrulls fear no war, but only if we can profit from it. The Three Great Empires mutually wearing each other out is pointless. And speaking of which, this war is quite inexplicable. It’s just unfortunate that Your Majesty the Emperor over there..."
Kart sighed and after thinking for a moment said, "Even if those two brothers don’t want to fight, the Asgardians surely do. If they know Thor plans to settle things peacefully, they would surely be in an uproar. After all, Thor hasn’t reigned for long and doesn’t yet have the prestige of Odin... By the way, where is Odin now?"
"I heard it’s one of the Nine Major Kingdoms, something called Vanaheim?" the adjutant continued, "Even if Thor can bear with this, Odin surely cannot. This fight seems unavoidable."
"I know, I just suspect the Asgardians have all gone to Odin. After all, when it comes to war, the Father of All Gods is far more experienced. Especially when facing such a formidable enemy as the Shi’ar Empire, Thor might not dare to be arrogant. He may very well seek the Father of All Gods’ intervention."
"That makes sense. But that also complicates things even more. Thor is at best a young king with no real battle experience. Odin, on the other hand, is a veteran of war. He may very well engage in a back-and-forth with the Shi’ar Empire, and in that case, we’ll all be dragged in."
"Though the Shi’ar Empire’s Queen is somewhat foolish, she’s not useless," Kart said confidently, "Even a dying camel is still bigger than a horse. Odin would gain nothing from the Shi’ar Empire unless Lilandra lost her mind."
"Sir! Sir!!" a Skrull rushed into the ward exclaiming, "Terrible news! The Shi’ar Empire’s Capital Star Fierce Feather Star has been attacked and has now been knocked out of the star system!!"
"What?!!!" the adjutant screamed in terror.
Kart hadn’t even had time to utter a word, a mouthful of drink sprayed out. He tossed the cup and dashed into the room, grabbing the messenger by the collar and saying, "What did you say?"
"The Shi’ar Empire... the Capital Star Fierce Feather Star... was... was hit by Earth! It’s now flown out of their star system!!"
Kart was caught off guard, and the breathing system monitor on his wrist started alarming. He shoved the messenger aside and dashed out of the ward to the end of the corridor. He opened a window to look outside, and indeed, the azure star overhead was gone!
"Human race... You guys are freaking awesome!!!"
The Supreme Wisdom’s brain was also crashing because of this news. He looked at the battle report sent back from the front lines, and his CPU was practically smoking.
He had learned from the Kree who went to Asgard that Earth could fly. Although it was somewhat surprising, the Kree Empire also had planet warships. Could the Supreme Wisdom possibly not understand such things?
In the cosmos, bigger warships are not necessarily better. Otherwise, why doesn’t anyone drive stars around? With the technology of the Three Great Empires, it’s not out of the question. They can even control black holes, and building any size warship is not an issue.
But there’s a physical law: the larger the sphere, the larger its surface area. The larger the surface area, the more energy the shield requires. The more energy the shield requires, the less output is available for weapons, and the attack frequency must be limited. If the weapons exhaust all the energy and the shields are gone, you can’t just rely on a metal shell to block damage, right?
It’s challenging for planet warships to achieve both offense and defense. The Kree Empire is already the best at it, creating planet warships that are at least useful. Other civilizations in the cosmos have planet weapons that are basically a concept model; it’s already impressive if they can make it to the battlefield, let alone make any contribution.
Regarding installing an engine on their home planet, the Supreme Wisdom can only express a lack of understanding but respect the decision. Which Earth Surface Civilization hasn’t taken detours during its development process? No matter how high the human race’s potential is, in the realm of cosmic construction, they must take one step at a time, and it’s normal to come up with bizarre and absurd things.
But unexpectedly, Earth wasn’t taking a detour; instead, they were on a bizarre but incredibly wide wild path.
The Supreme Wisdom carefully reviewed the videos sent from the front lines. Guess what? There was no high-end operation at all. Earth simply made a warp jump near the Capital Star of the Shi’ar Empire, fired up its engine, activated its shield, and like a cue ball, knocked the Ferocious Feather Star right off the billiard table.
And now Earth is hanging in the original position of the Ferocious Feather Star, quietly rotating.
The Supreme Wisdom really wanted to say, "Not cool, man." You crashed, but then you didn’t even leave? Do you think the Shi’ar Empire people are colorblind? Can’t they tell the difference between you and their home star? Acting all nonchalant with pig’s nostrils stuffed with scallions like you’re high class!
While the Supreme Wisdom was a bit speechless, he actually realized through this whole process that Earth’s trick wasn’t anything special. The main thing was simply brute force.
Their engine isn’t advanced, nowhere near matching the Kree Empire’s planet warships. It’s not just a little short, but several generations behind. But unfortunately, their shield is tough!
There’s a generation gap between Earth’s power system and the Kree Empire’s planet warships, and the shield system is also several generations behind. Strictly speaking, the Magic Defense Network can’t be considered a shield, but for that reason, it seems to be completely unafraid of collisions.
The Supreme Wisdom could see clearly that the moment the two planets collided, Earth’s Magic Defense Network seemed entirely unaffected, consuming almost no energy, and directly knocked the other planet far away. This implies that this thing has certain rules, having a layered advantage when crashing against anything.
This is a bit troublesome now. The Supreme Wisdom’s countless threads were analyzing. He used sent detectors, observing Earth from a distance, trying to find the weakness in this mode.
After thinking for a long time, he somewhat pessimistically found that there really is no flaw. Because it’s simple, it’s unstoppable.
Their propulsion system is indeed lacking, and in fact, they weren’t even going that fast when they rammed, they just caught the Ferocious Feather Star off guard like it had never seen a madman before. Actually, as long as a comprehensive star system counter-warp system is activated and multiple gravitational anchors are used to hold their home star, they wouldn’t be knocked out. The Supreme Wisdom had already done this upon learning this information. He was sure Earth could not knock him out.
But that’s about it, they can’t be knocked out. They still didn’t have a solution for Earth. Blowing Earth away with weapons? Those Earthlings aren’t pushovers either.
The key player is the cheat-player Magneto. Although he may not push Earth at incredible speeds, he can prevent things from pushing Earth, acting as a super-huge gravitational anchor that even the Three Great Empires can’t remove. Then if Earth insists on snuggling and spinning over your head every day, can life even go on like that?
Sure enough, the Supreme Wisdom soon saw from the screen that the Shi’ar Empire’s people painstakingly dragged their home planet back, only to be dumbfounded when they saw Earth occupying their home planet’s gravity orbit and refusing to move.
Not cool, man. Not only did you headbutt the homeowner out of the window in a home invasion, but now you’re sitting there and won’t leave?! Is there any justice left?!
The Shi’ar Empire people really wanted to roar: Is there anyone who can manage this?!
