Chapter 56: Dinner With The Adams (1)

Now he feels tense, "Dinner with someone?" he asks her.

Instantly Mel’s eyes are wide open, taken aback.

How is he know?

Mel now believes Andrew is a mind reader. She smiles at him and says, "Hmm, sorry, this top secret. But don’t mind, this is appointment dinner with family." She would like to tell him she will dinner with the President’s family, but she can’t.

His face turned dark because Mel not honest with him.

Mel froze, then cursed herself for talking too much.

"Andrew, I’ll tell you everything later, but not now, okay. I promise..." She didn’t want to say that the President invited her to the golden house because she had saved his child. This case of kidnapping is the government’s top secret.

Andrew nodded. However, he felt disappointed because Mel kept something from him. But, he will wait until this little girl said it honestly. "I understand, don’t worry." He said while stroked her hair gently.

"Thanks, Andrew." Mel smiled sincerely at him.

Andrew smiled back. "Now, go home. I will call you tomorrow."

Andrew’s smile grew as he saw Mel disappear behind the gate.

The Next Day.

For the first time, Mel set foot in the Golden House, the official residence of President this country. The Golden House location is in the south district. This area where government offices are located and are also home to state officials, including the President’s family.

Mel rarely visits this area. She sees many government office buildings and a few public spaces with modern architecture on the main road. There were also many trees along the road, but they were still bare branches because winter wasn’t over yet.

After further entering the southern district area, she finally sees a luxury residential area.

And not long after, the car drove by her private driver, which the MTGroup provided just for her, stopped for inspection, not just once, but several times.

Indeed the residence of an essential person in this country deserves to be guarded so tightly.

A few minutes later, the car finally stopped right in front of the magnificent building, Golden House.

Even though Mel had seen this house many times on television, seeing it in person made her still amazed. This building similar to the White House in Washington DC, but gold elements and white paint dominate the Golden house.

While admiring the building, she saw from afar Mr. Rexi, President’s assistant, walk toward her. His aura looks more relaxed than the last time they met. When he sent an invitation to her, he looked stressed. But now he was more comfortable, seemed to be in a good mood.

"Ms. Mel Tan, welcome to the Golden House." Mr. Rexi greeted him with a big smile.

"Thank you, Mr. Rexi," she smiles back at him.

After light greeting exchanges,

Mel immediately followed him enter the house. They walked for quite a while until they finally arrived at the other side of the building that looked like the presidential family’s private residence.

Now Mr. Rexi leads her to a spacious room like the lobby of a 5-star hotel with a classic modern interior. Look so luxurious but still feels homey. It was just her and Mr. Rexi in this spacious room there is no one, how strange.

Someone invite her, but where are they? She now feels a little bit awkward.

After she sits on the sofa, Mr. Rexi left her alone.

She exhaled silently and said in a low voice, "This is what I don’t like the most. Waiting for people, it feels so boring."

She immediately regretted coming here. But now, she couldn’t blame anyone. Besides that, she also came two minutes early from appointment time. She blames her habit to always arrive on time. Sign!

Because she feels bored of waiting, Mel took out her cellphone and typed quickly in a coding application; it wasn’t long before she hacked the golden house CCTV system.

Mel once again exhales deeply; she couldn’t believe the Golden house’s security system was so vulnerable.

Fortunately, the top hackers anywhere know that X is her territory. So no one has ever dared to attack the Golden house, so far, except for that damn hacker who attacked a few weeks ago.

Mel looked carefully at the entire area of the golden house through CCTV, but nothing caught her attention after a while. She feels bored again.

Mel decided to exit the application. But, before she left, she saw a very familiar car stop at the main door. A moment later, two tall men got out of the car. Instantly her eyes wide-open.

She chuckled while shaking her head lightly. "They invite them too; It’s unbelievable."

She immediately turned off her cellphone when she heard footsteps approaching, slowly raised her face to look. She saw Mr. President walking toward her, beside him, his wife, and two children.

Mel immediately stood up to greet them with a smile.

"Ms. Melanie Tanner, sorry to keep you waiting."

Mel stunned.

Her eyes looked on Mr. President, who now smiles wide at her; he seems so charismatic, even though he casually dresses.

’How does he know my real name?’ She asks herself in confusion. But, as soon as Alex’s image appeared in her mind, she was sure Alex must have told him.

’Commander is very disloyal, huh!’

Mel adjusts her feeling, then smiles and replies to him, "Don’t worry, sir, it happened I came too early." In her heart, she was annoyed because they come out late five minutes. But she can’t complain, right? This man is a president.

President Adams smiled warmly to Her; then he introduced his wife Megan, his two adorable children, Bobby Adams and Briel Adams.

"Ms. Tanner, This is my first son, Bobby Adams; thanks to you, he is safe now." he pauses a moment to adjust his emotion. "Ms. Tanner as a father, I am very grateful to you for having the courage to help my son. My wife and I want to give you something in return; please don’t refuse our kindness."

Mel was speechless.

A moment later, Mr. Rexi comes into the room and brings a small golden box. He gives the box to the President.

"Ms. Tanner, I know I can’t compare your help with money or valuable thing, but we hope you will accept this little gift." He hand offer the gold box to Mel.

Mel doesn’t know what to do; she feels so confused. Because before come here, she already tells Mr. Rexi that she doesn’t want anything from them to pay gratitude with a present or something.

Mel hesitate.

"Ms. Tanner, please accept it, this is not much, but we are very sincere. I know you don’t want anything from us, but just this one, could you please accept..." Madam President’s plea with her sincere tone.

Mel turned her gaze to look at madam president; she suddenly feels easy when she looks at her small pale face with her sparkling brown eyes looking plea to her. She finally melted and received the gift.

When she opened the gift, she was stunned to see a golden card with the sign ’Adams Family’ lay inside the box. She frowns. ’What is this?’

Seeing Mel, who was confused, Mr. President explained that the card is unique and only belongs to the Adams family. Currently, there are only five cards, and Mel owns one of them now.

The function of the card can be used in all Adams family businesses and as an identity. If Mel is getting into trouble one day, the Adams family resource owner will assist her as the card owner.

Mel is a little moved because the meaning of this card is profound. The Adams considered her like a family member.

"Mr. President... this card is too precious to your family; I can’t accept this," she said with mixed feelings.

"Melanie, may I call you by that name?" he looked at her gently.

Mel shook his head spontaneously. "NO. Mr. President, please just calls me Mel."

Mr. President looked happy, then said, "Mel, from now on, don’t call me formally, call me by my name, uncle Daniel. And this is my wife; you call her Aunty Megan." Mel nodded in agreement.

Daniel continues saying, "and, for the card, just accept it; we sincerely gave you because we considered you as our family member."

Mel gulp, this is too heavy. "But this,"

Uncle Daniel raised his hand, trying to stop Mel from resisting. "Mel, you know my father. Well, he is who suggested giving you this gift."

Mel is shocked! So it turns out true, old Adams has a tie with President Daniel Adams.

Not long after, they hear footsteps sound coming from the door.

"Alex, Mario, you guys are here. Come on over. Mel is already here." Uncle Daniel said with a happy tone.

The little cute chubby baby Briel, who had been sitting quietly in her place without speaking, is shouting, "Uncle Maaliiooo...". Her voice is so cute. And then she’s running fast with her tiny legs towards Mario.
