Damn! I Fall in Love With Him
Chapter 120: Love?

Chapter 120: Love?

She walked quickly toward the main gate. However, before she reached the gate, she heard someone calling her name. She stopped her stroll and looked back. Her heart tightened when she saw her father standing not far from her.

Instantly the memory of eleven years ago flashed through her mind when she and her mother left this mansion...

Mel hears her mother’s voice calling her name, "Mel, wake up!" her voice was very close to her ear. She tried to open her eyes, but they felt cumbersome like someone had applied glue on her eyes.

"Mel, Melanie, hurry up, wake up!" her mother’s voice was heard again. Her voice was slightly shrill and sounded impatient. Mel, who could feel her mother’s cold hand on her shoulder, slowly opened her eyes half. "Melanie, please get up quickly. We have to go immediately!" After much effort, she was finally able to open her eyes completely. She blinked a few times to clear up her blurry vision.

She saw her mother sitting beside the bed. Her face looked pale, her grey eyes were blank and slightly reddish, her black curly hair was tied up carelessly, she looked like she had aged more than her actual age.

Mel sat facing her mother without asking because she felt like she hadn’t really woken up right now. Her mind was still blank.

She saw, in her mother’s smooth white hands holding a thick black jacket, just before she asked, her mother saying... "Put this on," she said, her voice trembling.

Mel took the jacket and put it on immediately, without asking. Her mother didn’t say anything, and neither did Mel. The room was so quiet, like everyone in the mansion had fallen asleep. It was so quiet she could hear the sound of snow falling on the ground outside.

"We have to go right now." Her mother said in a low voice, breaking the silence.

She stood up, then took Mel’s hand. Mel, who was still half-conscious, didn’t know why her mother had forced her to wake up. She dragged her out of her bedroom after helping Mel putting on her shoes.

’Is something bad going on?’ Mel thought.

She followed her mother’s wide steps limply. Her mother looked impatient to leave this place, but her steps were steady. Not once did she turn to look back. Soon they arrived at the main door. Mel saw her father standing there with his back facing them. He looked so tall and big. He only wore loose pajamas. At the tip of his finger were sparks from his cigarette.

Hearing the sound of footsteps approaching, his father turned his head back. Mel could see the aura on her father’s face that looked very gloomy. His eyes were red. His lips trembled when he said... "Linda!!" He sounded like he was holding his anger.

Her mother walked past her father without turning her head. Mel just follows her mother’s walk passing her father. She is still confused, can’t understand what’s going on. She wanted to ask them, but her parents seemed to be fighting.

Mel hears her father’s deep voice... "Linda! Think carefully. If you walk out of that door, don’t expect to come back again. This is your last chance."

Her mother stopped right before the door without looking back.

Mel turned her head. She saw her father combing his messy black hair with his hands. He took a deep sigh as if he was holding back his anger. She never saw her father angry like this. At the same time, she felt her hand ache in her mother’s tight grip. She shifted her gaze from her father to her mother. She saw her mother’s back towering in front of her. Her mother’s head slightly lowered. She seemed to be crying. No. She seemed to be holding back her tears. Her body trembled.

"Linda, one day you will regret it" His father’s voice sounded frustrated.

"I won’t regret it!" Her mother answered in an icy voice. "I signed the divorce papers. Please proceed." She said, then continued her steps, her hand still tightly gripping Mel’s hand. They walked outside and disappeared into the darkness of the night. Left all the memories in Tanner’s mansion.

Mel comes back from her deep thoughts when her father asks her again, "Mel, do you really hate daddy?" Mel didn’t answer. She clenched her fists tightly until her nails stuck in her palms, her eyes fixed on her father.

Seeing Mel didn’t respond, Alan continued, "Mel, you don’t want to talk to Daddy anymore? Daddy really missed you." Mel is still silent. He added, "Mel, you should know that daddy loves you so much." He said, then walked towards her.

"LOVE?" Mel finally spoke.

Alan, who was walking towards Mel, suddenly stopped his steps and looked into Mel’s eyes.

Mel adds, "You love me? But, why did you throw me away?" Mel shook her head. At the moment, she wanted to laugh out loud. She continued her sentence, "Mr. Alan Tanner, I’m really sorry, but your confession made me nauseous, and I immediately wanted to throw up. I didn’t buy it! " She said with an expressionless face.

"Melanie, don’t blame dad, who decided to leave this house, Linda, your mom. You remember, right? Dad tried to stop her, but your mother still insisted on leaving this house and took you away. Dad couldn’t do anything about it."

Mel sent a sharp glare at him. With her icy voice, she said, "Never mention my mother’s name again. You don’t deserve it." She turned and walked away from her father.

Her father chased after her and said, "Melanie, I will ask your mother for forgiveness if it will allow you to forgive dad, huh?"

Mel stopped her steps and turned to face her father, who was now only two meters away from her. She lifted her face and looked directly into his brown eyes... "Mr. Alan Tanner, you are late asking for forgiveness from her. Because she died long ago." Mel immediately walked out of the Tanner Mansion, leaving her father frozen in place.

Mel didn’t care about her father anymore. She limped out of the Tanner Mansion while managing her now pounding heart, her hands shaking as she held back her emotions with all her might.
