Chapter 840: Chapter 837 Just Like Old Friends

"A tutor? Does university require a tutor?"

Yan Bo was increasingly puzzled. Although, according to the data, Tong Xiaohua hadn’t entered L University with particularly outstanding grades, she surely didn’t need a tutor so soon after the semester had started, did she?

"It’s not for university courses, I just wanted to learn some financial knowledge, so I hired a tutor."

After having dinner together that night, Tong Xiaohua no longer resisted Yan Bo like she used to—it was just as Yan Bo had said, she really started talking to him as if he were just a regular friend.

What Yan Bo on the phone didn’t know was that even friends her own age who would casually chat with her like now, Tong Xiaohua had very few.

"Is that so? Do you have anything you don’t understand? You can bring your textbooks and problems out, we can eat together and see if I can help you."

"You understand financial matters?"

Tong Xiaohua was surprised, but right after the words left her mouth, she immediately felt like an idiot. For a man of Yan Bo’s intelligence who chose to go into business, wasn’t it inevitable that he would know some financial knowledge?

"I definitely don’t understand the more profound stuff, but general knowledge issues, that should be no problem."

For some reason, Tong Xiaohua felt that Yan Bo’s response was excessively humble.

"Where are you now? I’ll find a restaurant nearby, I’ll head over now."

After chatting with Tong Xiaohua for a while, Yan Bo had already taken it for granted that they would have dinner together. He rested the phone on his shoulder and neatly packed up the documents on his desk, grabbed his bag and keys, and as if remembering something, turned and pulled out a book on company financial management from the shelf behind him and stuffed it into his bag.

"I’m near Langui Road, but I’m not very familiar with any good places to eat around here."

And Tong Xiaohua seemed to have been wrangled into his pace, completely forgetting that she had never actually agreed to have dinner with this man.

"What do you like to eat? I’ll make a reservation."

By this time, Yan Bo had already left the office, quietly closing the door behind him.

The staff working in the hall all looked up at their boss who was exceedingly young and now had a spring in his step.

"I’m not picky about food," said Tong Xiaohua, glancing at the book laid open in front of her that she hadn’t turned a page of for the past half hour, feeling slightly annoyed.

Perhaps she truly didn’t have a knack for this kind of thing. No matter how many times she read it, she just couldn’t understand the content on this page.

Forget it, she might as well ask Yan Bo for help. Anyway, he seems to know everything.

That’s what Tong Xiaohua was thinking. She marked the page with a bookmark, packed the book into her backpack, and then looked at the account book next to her with many red lines. After thinking a bit, she also put it into her backpack.

"Uncle Qin, I’ve made dinner plans with someone; could you let Uncle Yuan know?"

Tong Xiaohua said as she walked out of the bank’s office, with her backpack on, to Qin Ming, who was sitting outside talking to the bank supervisor.

Uncle Qin was taken aback, because, in the half-month he’d been with Tong Xiaohua, this was the first time she had socialized outside the bank. Not bothering with the supervisor’s question, he came over to look at her with concern.

"Who have you arranged to have dinner with? Why is it so sudden? You haven’t mentioned it before!"

It wasn’t that he was nosy, but as a young and beautiful girl like her, he had to keep a close watch. If something were to happen, how would he explain it to the Boss and his sister-in-law?

Tong Xiaohua felt at ease, treating Yan Bo just like a regular friend.

Even though she had never had such a regular friend before with whom she could dine and chat.

"Uncle Ming, I’ve arranged to have dinner with Yan Bo and will take the opportunity to ask him some questions about the accounts. The driver can just take me there; you should go home for dinner around the same time."

Having given her instructions, Tong Xiaohua swung her backpack over her shoulder and walked out, leaving Uncle Ming transfixed, staring at her departing figure.

It took a while before he came back to his senses and said to the supervisor, who had also witnessed what happened, "Don’t you think Miss seems to have grown up?"

The supervisor smiled, "Ming Sir, she has indeed grown up. Who knows how many brothers are secretly in love with her, but no one dares to even take half a step over the line."

Uncle Ming gave a bitter smile. It seemed that only in his eyes was she always the tomboyish little girl with pigtails, naughtier than any boy.

"You guys dare to have thoughts about Miss? Not to mention Boss wouldn’t let that slide, I wouldn’t let you off easily either!" Uncle Ming glared at the supervisor.

"How could we dare? At least it would take a romantic young master like the third Yan Young Master to be a match for our Miss. Us mere mortals can only stand aside and silently wish her happiness."

Uncle Ming’s expression softened a bit, but thinking about all he had learned about this third Yan Young Master, he couldn’t help but start to worry again.

Indeed, if Xiao Hua could end up with this third Yan Young Master, it would be an excellent outcome for both her and the Tong Family. However, not only was there a huge gap between their family backgrounds, but one could even say they were on opposite sides.

With that in mind, was it really alright to let them continue interacting so naturally?

On this matter, Uncle Ming’s feelings were mixed, and the more he thought about it, the less at ease he felt. He turned and slipped into the office to give Boss Tong a call, laying out the situation in detail. He believed that the Boss would surely see the pros and cons more clearly than he did.

"Ah Ming, matters of marriage are in the hands of fate. If Yan is destined for her, we can’t stop it even if we intervene. If he’s not the one, trying to force a match would be futile. Just let things take their natural course," the Boss advised.

Since Xiao Hua’s father said as much, Qin Ming felt it would be inappropriate to say more. He asked about Boss Tong’s and sister-in-law’s situation overseas and, learning that everything was stable with the surgery dates being arranged, he hung up the phone feeling reassured.

Uncle Ming worried himself sick over the little girl’s affairs, while Tong Xiaohua herself, completely unaware, strolled into the dining room with her backpack, where the waitress asked for details and then led her to a private room.

"Miss, please take a seat for a moment. Mr. Yan will arrive in about ten minutes."

Tong Xiaohua said thank you and took out the book that had been giving her a headache from her large backpack.

"Xiao Hua, sorry I’m late," Yan Bo apologized as his voice reached her from the entrance.

Hearing the apologetic voice, Tong Xiaohua closed the book, turned around, and faced Yan Bo’s contrite expression.

"I’ve just arrived too, it’s fine, have a seat," she said.

Yan Bo strode over with big steps and confidently sat down in the chair she had pushed out for him.

His breathing was slightly erratic, suggesting he must have run here.

"Did you run here?" Tong Xiaohua asked with raised eyebrows, looking at him amused.

He had always seemed unflappable and composed in her mind, so this flustered behavior was quite unlike him.

Yan Bo was pleased; not having seen her for ten days, her feelings for him hadn’t faded but rather, like a good friend, she now knew how to tease him.
