Chapter 422: Chapter 422: Seeing the Dawn

"Young Master Yan, I have brought Wei here to apologize to you!"

Upon saying that, he took two wine glasses, handed one to Yi Wei, and carried the other himself.

Young Master Yan, with eyes full of interest, looked at the person in front of him and also extended his hand. Qin Xiu immediately understood his intention, and brought a drink for him.

"Young Master Wang, you’re being too serious. Wei has done nothing wrong. Why talk about an apology?"

Generally speaking, when one insists that the other party has done nothing wrong, there are likely two reasons. Either the other party truly has done no wrong, or one simply does not wish to give the other party the opportunity to apologize, thus insisting that the other party is innocent.

The situation here is clear to those with discerning eyes that Eldest Young Master Yan has no intention of giving Yi Wei an opportunity to apologize.

"Han..."

Yi Wei has always held a profound respect for Yan Han. When Wang Wenjie pushed her in front of Yan Han, what she was thinking at the moment was not about speaking up for the benefits of both Yi and Wang families. Instead, she was hoping that Yan Han could forgive her.

In the final analysis, the reason why she had always refused the Wang Family was not only because Wang Wenjie was disabled -- a fact that made her feel ashamed -- but also because she could not believe that Yan Han could be so ruthless.

To say that Yi Wei is naive and foolish would be the most fitting description.

As for the aggrieved look on Yi Wei’s face, Young Master Yan chose to ignore it. He simply passed his wine glass to Wang Wenjie and drank up.

"Young Master Wang, please take good care of Wei!"

Wang Wenjie nodded and responded, "Of course, I will treat her well. Young Master Yan, you can rest assured!"

"There’s nothing to worry about. We are all adults. We will think before we act and when we cause trouble, we can take responsibility for it, can’t we?"

Throughout the incident, Yan never once glanced at Yi Wei. His words, although they seemed to be directed at Wang Wenjie, were actually meant for Yi Wei to hear.

Yi Wei originally wanted to salvage something. But after hearing Yan’s words and seeing that he didn’t even want to look her in the eyes, she felt a coldness deep within her. After calling him "brother Han," she fell silent.

Afterwards, she just stood quietly by Wang Wenjie’s side, listening to his casual conversation with Yan.

Although Young Master Yan was not overly enthusiastic towards Wang Wenjie, his behavior was no different from that of any other person. It was as if the numerous "favors" that Wang Wenjie had recently done for him had never happened.

Yi Wei did not stay long at the cocktail party before leaving. It was Qin Xiu who told Yan about this. But Yan and Qin remained at the cocktail party until it ended, only then did they bid the host goodbye and left.

When Yan returned home, it was past eight o’clock. Since Zhu Qianying and Chen Jing were moving out of the Yan Family the following day, everyone was sitting in the living room, chatting over tea.

The little boy usually went to bed at exactly nine o’clock. Seeing that it was about time, he yawned continuously while lying listlessly on Zhu Qianying’s thigh.

When the little boy saw Yan return, he wasn’t as excited as usual. He didn’t move an inch, only lazily lifting his eyelids to look at Yan and then lazily calling out, "Daddy!"

Then he yawned a few more times, lying motionless on Zhu Qianying’s legs.

Yan didn’t blame him. He sat down beside Zhu Qianying, leaned down and brought his face close to the little boy’s to give him a kiss.

"Oh, Daddy, you stink! Go take a bath quickly..." The little boy scrunched his nose in disgust and pushed Yan’s face away, pouting his lips.

Obviously, he was disgusted by Yan’s alcohol-scented breath.

Zhu Qianying also frowned, then looked at Yan with concern.

"Did you drink a lot?"

Yan replied with a "Hmm." He had already informed Zhu Qianying about today’s cocktail party yesterday.

At that time, Zhu Qianying didn’t say anything but simply responded lightly, indicating that she was aware.

This subtle change gave Yan hope.

Because she didn’t directly snap at him with a "What’s it to me?" which was a pleasant change for him.

At this moment, Yan sat up straight slightly and met her concerned eyes.

"I ran into Yi Wei at the cocktail party earlier. It seems that things between her and Young Master Wang have been settled."

Yan knew that Zhu Qianying didn’t want to hear Yi Wei’s name, but since he had seen Yi Wei, he wanted to tell her himself, rather than have distorted news reach her through others.

Zhu Qianying was slightly surprised. She hadn’t expected that he would even report such a matter to her. After a moment of silence, she said,

"That’s a good thing!"

After all, she and Yi Wei were both entangled with the same man. In a sense, they could be considered kindred spirits.

Of course, there were significant differences between her relationship with Yan and that of Yi Wei’s and Yan’s.

In the relationship between Yi Wei and Yan, Yi Wei was the one being doted on. While in her relationship with Yan, Yan was the one being accommodated.

Although Yi Wei had done a lot of things that were overboard towards Yan, she didn’t have much direct conflict with her, nor did she have much direct grievances apart from cursing her out at the jewelry store. Therefore, compared to Zhu Junwei, her resentment towards Yi Wei was somewhat lighter.

The reason why she didn’t want to hear Yi Wei’s name had more to do with Yi Wei reminding her of the days after her wedding when she fell from heaven to hell.

Over time, however, even this feeling had considerably weakened.

Yan was slightly surprised at her reaction as well.

When he told her last night that he was going to the cocktail party, she had only responded with a monosyllable, which had already made him ecstatic. But now, when he mentioned Yi Wei, she even gave him a response.

At first, he was prepared for her to remain silent when he mentioned Yi Wei. The best response he could hope for was silence.

"Yes, it really is a good thing!"

A somewhat overly excited Yan could only respond in this way for the time being.

It was the sleepy baby boy, already in the midst of falling asleep, who reacted to his parents’ conversation. He suddenly sat up, raised his little hand and slapped it on Yan’s chin.

"You’re not allowed to see that woman!"

Both Zhu Qianying and Yan were taken aback for a moment, before they realized that the "woman" the little boy was referring to was Yi Wei.

Yan chuckled, caught his hand, placed it to his lips and kissed it, then assured him in a very serious tone.

"Don’t worry, baby. Daddy won’t go see her!" His eyes, however, were looking affectionately at Zhu Qianying.

Zhu Qianying coughed twice, turned her face away and ignored him.

After a moment’s pause, she shifted the little boy’s head into Yan’s arms and got up to go to the kitchen.

A few minutes later, she came out with a cup of steaming hot tea-like substance.

"Drink it while it’s hot."

Zhu Qianying handed the cup to Yan, who received it with a pleasantly surprised look on his face.

"What’s this?"

"Poison!"

Zhu Qianying sat back down on the sofa. She was actually a bit angry with herself. He was just drunk, the one feeling uncomfortable was him, not her, so why did she suddenly make him hangover tea?

Moreover, if he hadn’t asked, she wouldn’t have realized she’d done such a foolish thing!
