Chapter 357: Rainbow and The Light of Hope

Chapter 357: Chapter 357: Rainbow and The Light of Hope

"Young Master and Young Lady, should we bring out all the fruits and snacks?"

The door of the cabin opened from inside, a head stuck out to ask. This was someone that Zhu Qianying had seen before, an aunt who usually took care of the gardens at the mansion.

"I’ll do it, I’ll do it..."

The little boy rushed forward enthusiastically. Zhu Qianying laughed and shook her head. The kid wasn’t calm at all, but eager to do everything.

"Alright, we can handle it ourselves, call us if you need anything."

Young Master Yan also chuckled, waving his hand to dismiss the aunt.

As they were walking on the platform, Zhu Qianying noticed something different. She glanced at Master Yan, "Is there floor heating here?"

Though the thought seemed ludicrous, after all, this was the South, where most homes don’t have floor heating. But the warm and cozy feeling under her feet, if not floor heating, what could it be?

"Hmm..." Master Yan nodded, pausing a moment, and then added, "The principle might be similar to floor heating..."

Zhu Qianying didn’t investigate further. Some things weren’t fun if delved too deep into.

They entered the wooden cabin one after the other, while the three elders entered the courtyard but didn’t come over immediately, instead wandered to the side of the courtyard to enjoy the scenery.

On entering the cabin, Zhu Qianying found that there wasn’t furniture like chairs and sofas, rather the interior was designed as a traditional Japanese tatami style. The living room, measuring dozens of square meters, had two low coffee tables placed on each side. The tabletops were adorned with blooming daffodils, their delicate fragrance filling the atmosphere.

Zhu Qianying couldn’t help but breathe in the scent, "It smells so good..."

Similar to the outdoor platform, the interior was casually littered with cushions and pillows. And among these, she found several stuffed toys and animal cushions that the little boy liked, she guessed they must have been added recently according to his preferences.

These small details revealed the thoughtfulness of Young Master Yan towards their son.

"Very considerate, our baby boy really likes it!"

Zhu Qianying heartily praised Master Yan’s conduct.

Master Yan glanced at her in surprise, then a smile appeared in his eyes.

"And you?"

Taken aback slightly, Zhu Qianying looked back at his half-curved eyes, nodded almost involuntarily, "I like it too!"

As the words left her mouth, she felt a touch of regret, afraid that Master Yan would misconstrue it.

The playful glint in Master Yan’s eyes intensified, but he said lightly, "I like it too!"

Zhu Qianying exhaled a deep sigh of relief. Why she felt relieved, she herself was not very clear.

Maybe, she understood it better than anyone else, but chose to deliberately ignore it.

"Mommy, quick, help baby boy... baby boy can’t do it..."

When she heard her son’s plea for help from one of the rooms, she hurriedly followed the source of the voice. Shortly after, she found him standing on tiptoes, leaning against the kitchen counter, looking helplessly at the large rotating fruit platter before him.

The kitchen was designed in traditional Chinese style, very simple. It seemed to be intended for light cooking. There was a mini-bar in one corner, various types of fruit wine were displayed.

The designer of the room was very clever. Despite the contrast of the two structures, he managed to harmonise them without any abrupt changes.

"Come, shall we lift it together?"

Zhu Qianying’s suggestion brought a peal of laughter from the little boy.

"Heeheehee, the fruit plate is so big. We need to lift it..."

He laughed for a while, then murmured, "Two monks carry water to drink..." So, that’s what made him laugh.

Master Yan, attracted to the room by the laughter of his son, poked his head inside and asked, "What’s making you laugh, baby?"

Zhu Qianying glanced at their son. The little boy was still chuckling, and kindly explained, "Mommy and I are both monks!"

Master Yan looked puzzled and turned to Zhu Qianying.

Zhu Qianying just shrugged without explaining, took the fruit plate with her son, and carried it out to the platform under the eaves.

The two diligent helpers quickly carried out all the fruits, snacks, and tea, and arranged them in a long line.

Master Yan was fiddling with something behind the mini-bar, and after a while, he appeared with two cocktail-like beverages in his hands; one of which he passed to the little boy, and the other to Zhu Qianying.

The little boy took a drink, looked up at Master Yan for a moment and then said softly, "Thank you, Daddy!"

Master Yan blinked at him, put his hand on the boy’s head, and gently ruffled his hair.

Zhu Qianying finally tore her gaze away from the harmonious interaction between father and son, and closely examined the drink in her hand.

Truth be told, the drink looked rather appealing. As for the taste...

Zhu Qianying was not a person who could be easily deceived by appearances. She brought the glass to her nose, gently swirled the liquid inside, and took a careful sniff.

"Long Island Iced Tea?"

She asked, glancing up at Master Yan.

Master Yan curved his lips, confirming with his gesture.

"Trying to get me drunk?" This wasn’t meant to be derogatory, but rather was said in a teasing tone.

Master Yan seemed to notice her jovial tone, shrugged as she did earlier and replied, "I definitely wouldn’t want you to be drunk on alcohol, but being intoxicated by love sounds appealing."

Zhu Qianying understood his insinuation immediately and gave him a reproachful look, sighing inwardly.

Having playfully teased her, Master Yan seemed to be in a good mood. He lifted the little boy onto his lap and then sat cross-legged next to Zhu Qianying.

"Baby, do you know what your drink is called?"

The little boy studied the different layers of colors in his glass and tilted his head, "Is it called Rainbow?"

Master Yan seemed a bit stunned before he nodded, "Hmm, Baby is so smart. Yes, it’s called Rainbow."

Going by Master Yan’s reaction, the name of the little boy’s beverage certainly wasn’t ’Rainbow’.

But from this day on, in our baby boy’s mind, a beautiful rainbow had shone brightly. Probably for a long time in the future, he would remember the special drink called ’Rainbow’ which his daddy made specially for him on the eve of his fifth Chinese New Year.

As Zhu Qianying thought of this, her eyes began to moisten. She looked up at the glistening lake outside the courtyard and blinked her eyes vigorously.

Being praised, the little boy was very happy. He lowered his head and took a sip of his drink, then looked up and sighed contently, "Mmm... the taste is good..."

Master Yan and Zhu Qianying couldn’t help but laugh at the little boy’s words.

After tasting his rainbow drink, the little boy looked at the cocktail in Zhu Qianying’s hand, "Is Mommy’s drink called Light of Hope?"
