Chapter 356: Accompanying the Young Master while Staying Up Late on New Year’s Eve
Chapter 356: Chapter 356: Accompanying the Young Master while Staying Up Late on New Year’s Eve
Zhu Qianying couldn’t help laughing. Could it be that the little boy only realized today that he was the young master of a wealthy family?
The little boy wasn’t dumb, but why did he only realize this today? Perhaps, he had never felt that he belonged here before?
Upon this thought, Zhu Qianying couldn’t help but introspect, wondering if she had inadvertently given her son such an impression.
The answer, however, was no.
Turns out, the little boy was simply too clever, and he must have figured something out on his own.
Zhu Qianying didn’t dare to delve further into this and simply replied, "Is that so? Then I’ll be relying on you, young master, for my retirement in the future!"
Having made her teasing comment, she quickly walked into the dining room with the soup.
"Absolutely, no problem! I’ll take care of you and grandma, Mommy!"
Though the kid was only four and a little too young to talk about taking care of someone in the future, no mother could deny being moved by hearing her child say such words. Zhu Qianying was no different!
"Alright, go wash your hands and face. It’s time for dinner!" Zhu Qianying quickly restrained her feelings and instructed the child and the adult.
"Yes, ma’am!" The little boy responded cheerfully. Then, without warning, he waved his small hand and slapped Yan Han on the back, exclaiming, "cha!"
Yan Han’s lips twitched, he was being massaged one moment ago and now he was being ridden like a horse? The mood change was a little too abrupt!
Even Zhu Qianying found it amusing to see Yan Han carrying the little boy towards the bathroom with an exasperated look on his face. It made the wall in her heart crumble a little bit...
Master Chef Chen, who hadn’t cooked a feast in a long time, seized the chance to prepare an abundant New Year’s Eve dinner. The dining table was filled to the brim.
Moreover, Chen Jing even prepared meals for the servant of Yan Family who stayed to take care of the house. The big kitchen of Yan Family was big enough to accommodate a temporary dining table for the servants. Together with the Yan family, they had a festive New Year’s Eve dinner.
The little boy spent most of the day sticking to Yan Han, so his grandparents were a little jealous. Seeing Yan Han about to sit next to their grandchild, Mrs. Yan coughed and said, "Dear, our precious grandson is mine tonight!"
Ever since Zhu Qianying and her daughter moved in, the little boy had two more family members to cling to, hence spending less time with Yan Bo and his wife. Now, even her son wanted to possessively take away the person he was attached to, Mrs. Yan couldn’t help but be jealous.
After recalling the joyous moments from the day and looking at his mother’s begrudging face, Yan Han obediently moved to the other side of Zhu Qianying and sat down.
The Yan family hadn’t had such a lively atmosphere in years. Similarly, it was also the first lively New Year’s Eve for the little boy. He was genuinely happy and seeing such delicious food on the table, he couldn’t help but eat and drink to his heart’s content.
A butler brought some wine and beverages. For the little boy, he naturally poured some juice. But when it came to Zhu Qianying, the servant hesitated a little.
Considering her poor sleeping condition in the past two days, Zhu Qianying pointed at the bottle of red wine and said, "Pour me some wine!"
Maybe, after drinking some wine, she would have a good sleep tonight.
As she thought about this, she ate her dinner while sipping on the wine.
Since Yan Han had known her, it was the first time he had seen her drink, or to be precise, the first time he had noticed her drinking.
Initially, he reminded her, saying, "Ying’er, don’t drink too much, this red wine packs a punch."
Zhu Qianying just gave him a smile without explaining anything. She also didn’t show any signs of controlling her drinking. In the end, Yan Han realized that her tolerance for alcohol was much higher than he had imagined, which was why she drank without any hesitation.
After dinner, when the servants were clearing the table, Yan Han had the car prepared, saying that he would take everyone to Bie Wan to celebrate New Year’s Eve.
Zhu Qianying was slightly taken aback. If only she had known his plans earlier, she wouldn’t have indulged in her drinking!
The proposal made by Yan Han was unanimously supported by everyone except Chen Jing and the mother-daughter duo, Zhu Qianying and Zhu Qianyu. The most excitedal was the little boy, his eyes were shining like stars.
"Mommy, let’s go! I’ve never spent New Year’s Eve awake till midnight before!" The little boy pulled Zhu Qianying’s arm and acted adorably.
Indeed, during the years they lived in M country, Zhu Qianying and Chen Jing simplified all the complex rituals of New Year’s Eve and Spring Festival to the bare minimum. After all, a family of three couldn’t make much of a fuss.
Now looking back, it was the first real Spring Festival in the little boy’s life. His closest family members, except for his aunt Zhu Qianyu, were almost all by his side.
On such a special day, Zhu Qianying, even if she were hard-hearted, couldn’t suppress her son’s excitement.
Despite worrying that she might not be able to stay awake till midnight, she quickly nodded her head.
"Sure, we’re definitely going! We’ll all be staying up with our young master tonight!"
The little boy was so excited that he jumped up and leaped onto Zhu Qianying like a monkey. Yan Han, with his quick reflexes, caught him mid-air.
"Baby, let Daddy carry you!"
Perhaps the little boy hadn’t realized that besides growing taller recently, he had also gained some weight. It was obvious his mother had some trouble carrying him and might trip over if he was too impulsive.
Yan Han only took him from his mother’s arms to save her from the embarrassment. He then whispered into the little boy’s ear, "You’re taller now, Zizi. Mommy might get tired if she carries you."
Upon hearing his father’s words, the little boy didn’t struggle anymore. After walking a few steps, he naturally reached out to hug Yan Han’s neck, looking very affectionate.
The family party of six arrived at the so-called Bie Wan in Yan Han’s car. After getting off the car, Zhu Qianying realized for the first time that she had never been to this place before.
She had seen the large lake in front of her a few times, but she had only passed by on the shady path on the other side of the lake. She never knew that there was such a gorgeous white wooden house on this side of the lake.
Leading the way with the little boy, Yan Han pushed open the white gate and walked along a winding path paved with cobblestones, straight under the eaves of the wooden house.
There were a few wind chimes hanging from the eaves. Positioned as such in the upwind area, a delicate breeze would stir them into creating a crisp tinkling sound.
Beneath the eaves was a long platform built from teak that Yan Han stepped barefoot onto after taking off his shoes. The little boy, trying to imitate him, bent down to take off his shoes and crawled onto the platform.
Zhu Qianying also stepped barefoot onto the platform and only then did she see plenty of big and small cushions neatly arranged against the wall on the platform. It was obvious that this was a suitable spot to enjoy moon gazing and scenic beauty.
