Chapter 282: Chapter 282: It’s only natural to pamper your son

Ever since Yan Han had spent a night on the sofa two nights before, Chen Jing had been subtly reminding Zhu Qianying these past two days not to be too indecisive about the divorce.

What Chen Jing meant was if the two of them still had feelings for each other, they should continue on. However, if there were no feelings left, they should decisively end things and stop dragging it out.

Chen Jing had no knowledge of Yi Wei visiting their daughter at the shop; she simply didn’t want her daughter to waste twenty years of her life on an undeserving man like she did.

Her daughter was only twenty-five years old now, talented and attractive. So, she should hurry up, figure out what she wants, and seek her true happiness.

Yan Han, despite being excellent in every aspect, ultimately didn’t seem to prioritize her daughter. As a mother, Chen Jing saw this very clearly.

However, Zhu Qianying constantly avoided this topic. She found that, since her return, she had become more indecisive than she had been five years ago in dealing with matters relating to Yan Han. She could no longer be as resolute as before.

At the very least, even though she was very skeptical about his explanation concerning Yi Wei, she still chose to believe that there was truly nothing going on between Yan Han and Yi Wei, at least not now.

Moreover, she was watching as her son’s feelings for Yan Han grew stronger day by day, and she didn’t want to fall out with Yan Han at this time and end up affecting the little boy’s perception of his father.

Therefore, after the subject of divorce was brought up that night, both Zhu Qianying and Yan Han tactfully chose to ignore and forget it.

However, this didn’t mean she was willing to return to the Capital City with Yan Han and their child.

The Elderly couple from the Yan family had just turned a hundred. Although their bodies were relatively healthy, everyone knew that at their age, it was best to avoid any sort of emotional upheaval as much as possible.

"Auntie, you guys decide about that. I’m quite busy these days and won’t be able to accompany you all there. You can take Yan Han and our son to visit their great-grandparents, and you can settle the name issue while you’re there," she said.

Yan Bo and his wife knew everything about her and Yan Han’s situation. Therefore, she occasionally spends a half-day at the Yan family’s home without feeling too awkward.

Because the elderly couple would never ask any inappropriate questions, nor would they excessively meddle in her and Yan Han’s love life.

But going back to the Capital City would be a different story.

In others’ eyes, she and Yan Han were still a loving couple. Hence, she would naturally have to play along, which would be difficult for her right now.

Madam Yan appeared disappointed and turned to Yan Bo for help.

Left with no choice, Yan Bo joined the persuasion, "Ying’er, you’re the mother. It would be inappropriate if you are not present when naming him, wouldn’t it be?"

To which, Zhu Qianying responded, "As long as my son is happy, I don’t mind."

A name is just a label, right?

After both the elderly couple’s attempts ended in failure, they could only turn their gaze upon Yan Han.

Yan Han had had a falling out with Zhu Qianying over Yi Wei’s issue just a few days ago. He had been extremely careful for days, and now his parents were throwing this responsibility onto him. He could only choose to ignore it.

In fact, the issue of what to name the child wasn’t a big problem. Yet, the three members of the Yan family unanimously believed it was a window of opportunity to mend their relationship with Zhu Qianying. Therefore, they were so indecisive, striving to create more chances to bring Yan Han and Zhu Qianying together again.

But not everything can go as planned when there are unexpected incidents looming.

While the young boy was contemplating his new friend’s name, the four adults were also distressed over the child’s name.

As the shop’s automatic greeting blared "Welcome!" none of the five people, each lost in their thoughts, paid any attention to the entrance.

"Uncle Yan, Auntie Yan, you’re here too? What a coincidence!"

A familiar female voice rang out and except for the young boy, who was too engrossed in bonding with his new friend, the four adults froze.

Zhu Qianying didn’t want to intrude between Yan Han and Yi Wei, even less to subject her child to emotional harm. Patting her son’s head, she said, "Honey, shall we take our dog for a walk in the backyard?"

From where Zhu Qianying stood, she could clearly see a courtyard beyond the shop’s back door, where several other small animals were roaming free.

The child, oblivious to any underlying intentions, happily walked with his mother towards the backyard, the dog’s leash in one hand and his mother’s hand in the other.

The members of the Yan family, likewise, did not want Zhu Qianying and their son to face Yi Wei.

After all, they were partially or indirectly responsible for Zhu Qianying’s departure all those years ago.

Seeing the mother and son take the dog for a walk, Yan Han stepped forward to shut the door to the backyard. Only then did he turn around to face Yi Wei, and asked curtly.

"What are you doing here?"

Yi Wei was holding a Chihuahua in her arms, and initially looked very happy. But when she heard Yan Han’s disgruntled question, she blinked pitifully and replied, "I brought my pet here for its beauty care!"

Yi Wei lived in the same district as the Yan family, and this pet store was the nearest one to their homes, so their encounter was not too surprising.

Only then did Yan Han notice the puppy in her arms, which partially calmed his frustration.

"Wei, what a coincidence! When did you start keeping pets?"

It was Madam Yan who noticed. She remembered that Yi Wei also disliked small animals, just like Yan Han did when they were children.

"Auntie, I’ve had this little one for several years now. I bring him here every week for grooming."

In response to Madam Yan’s question, Yi Wei handed over her puppy to the approaching shop assistant.

Madam Yan turned to look at Yan Han as if seeking verification, but Yan Han could only shrug to indicate he knew nothing.

Over the past few years, he seldom sought Yi Wei out. When he visited the Yi family, it was mostly out of politeness, to maintain family connection during Spring Festival, or to wish Yi Changxing and his wife a happy birthday. Otherwise, he never made unsolicited visits to their home.

"Uncle and Aunt, are you here because you’re thinking of keeping a pet?"

After asking that, Yi Wei looked at Yan Han and added, "But doesn’t Yan Han hate small animals?"

Yan Han plainly replied, "My son wants a dog."

Yi Wei paused briefly, then laughed it off with a brief cough.

"Haha, which kid doesn’t love pets? But, I never thought you would care so much for children, Yan Han. You used to have a falling out with people whenever pets were brought up. Now, for the sake of your child, you’re willing to put up with this?"

The smirk on Yi Wei’s face and her statement to Yan Han were grating to him, and he found her smile very hypocritical.

He frowned slightly and looked at Yi Wei with suspicion. "My son is my son. Isn’t it natural for me to care for him?"
