Cucking The Demon King
Chapter 91: A missing Rex

Chapter 91: A missing Rex

All of them immediately fell into silence, in shock at the words Cynthia just spoke.

Rex Silvagold... was missing?

Lela quickly looked around, scanning their surroundings as if expecting him to suddenly appear.

But he didn’t.

And that was when reality sank in.

Rex was nowhere to be seen.

A wave of unease spread through the group.

Even though all of them didn’t particularly like Rex, they still felt uneasy at the thought of one of their own disappearing overnight.

Cynthia rubbed her chin, deep in thought.

"Where could that arrogant noble have gone?" She muttered.

Liam frowned.

’Had Rex gotten so angry that he simply left the inn?’ He thought, his eyes narrowing.

It wasn’t impossible, but...

’Nah, that’s not it.’ He thought, shaking his head slightly.

He doubted that was the case.

Rex was very annoying, arrogant, and a complete pain in the ass.

was annoying.

But abandoning a mission given to them by the church?

That was something he’d never do.

Which meant—

There were only two possibilities.

Either he had gotten lost...

Or he had been kidnapped.

Liam’s expression darkened.

’Did an heretic get to him?’ He thought.

His mind immediately went to Eva, the only heretic he had met since coming to this village.

She was the only person he could think of who might have motive to do something like this.

But...

He quickly dismissed the thought.

Eva had already witnessed his strength firsthand.

He doubted she would be stupid enough to provoke him these soon, unless he had overestimated her intelligence of course.

But then, he was sure this wasn’t her doing.

According to the church, there mignt not be just one heretic moving about in the village.

It was why they were warned to be extremely cautious during the mission.

To be honest, he didn’t care about Rex, not even in the tiniest bit.

He didn’t care about Rex.

However, he was more concerned about Emma.

His gaze shifted.

And just as he had expected—

Emma’s face was pale.

Terror flickered in her eyes.

Her lips trembled, her teeth clenched so hard he thought they might break.

Liam sighed.

Just as I expected.

The guilt was already setting in.

After all—

They had locked Rex out the previous night.

And now, he was missing.

It was too much of a coincidence.

Emma would blame herself for this.

And that annoyed Liam.

She had just started breaking out of her shell.

He was just starting to make her more confident, to mold her into his.

And now...

This might set her back.

’How annoying.’ He thought, clicking his tongue.

The tension in the room thickened.

Cynthia, sensing it, cleared her throat.

The sound snapped everyone’s attention back to her.

She crossed her arms, her brows furrowed.

"I overheard him last night... talking about renting another room," She said.

"Something about getting away from... annoying pests like us." She continued, snickering in annoyance.

None of them doubted what she said, those were certainly things Rex was capable of saying.

He might be missing, but the truth remained that he was a complete asshole.

Cynthia, however, wasn’t amused.

She tapped her fingers against her arm.

"I don’t want to believe he’s actually missing," She admitted.

"He may not be as strong as Emma, but..." She muttered, briefly glancing at the red haired girl. "He’s still a Silvagold, his background alone is enough to deter anyone who might try to cross him."

Or at least—

That’s what she thought.

Lela nodded in agreement.

Then, she turned her attention to Emma.

Her gaze flickered to Liam.

Emma was standing close to him.

Too close.

She’s so close to him.

Lela’s fists tightened.

Her gaze shifted to Liam.

But...

He wasn’t even looking at her.

Not even acknowledging her.

He was focused entirely on Emma, treating her like she was mere air.

She gritted her teeth.

A feeling of bitterness settled in her chest.

She wanted to be the one in Emma’s place.

But instead...

She was being ignored.

She still remembered last time.

The way Liam had taken her.

How he had filled her insides with his massive—

Lela shuddered slightly.

Her folds tingled at the memory, a dull heat spreading through her body.

And then—

Liam suddenly turned to her.

Their eyes met.

Lela’s heart skipped a beat.

A small smirk played on Liam’s lips.

Her eyes widened, her cheeks turning rosy in embarrassment.

She lightly clutched her chest, her breath hitching in her throat.

Liam let out a low sigh before shifting his focus back to Emma.

Her hands were still trembling slightly, her breathing uneven.

Even though this had nothing to do with her, she still seemed to be drowning in guilt and worry, something which annoyed Liam.

’I guess at the end of the day, he’s still her brother.’ He thought, wrapping an arm around her shoulders.

"You shouldn’t worry too much, we’ll surely find him, wherever he is." He said, nodding his head at her.

It was a simply gesture, but it managed to calm Emma’s worried mind.

Her eyes widened slightly, and she hesitantly looked up at him.

Emma’s lips quivered.

But then, she weakly nodded back.

Still—

He could tell.

Her mind was still heavy with worry, and even guilt.

Cynthia, standing nearby, watched the exchange.

Her brows furrowed slightly.

She didn’t say anything.

But deep down, she felt a pang of jealousy.

’So she has him all to herself, how greedy.’ She thought, clicking her tongue.

A part of her wished it was her in Emma’s place.

His handsome face staring down at her, and his strong yet comforting presence surrounding her.

But unfortunately, reality was different.

Cynthia quickly shook her head.

’Snap out of it, this is not the time!’ She thought, letting out a low sigh.

She had to focus, and find out what really happened to Rex.

Pushing aside her personal feelings, she turned back to the group.

Lela, arms crossed, sighed.

"Since Rex mentioned renting another room," She said, "we should probably ask the innkeeper."

She brushed her hair to the side, sighing.

"It’s possible we’re just overthinking this," she continued.

"He could still be cooped up in his room."

The rest of the group nodded in agreement.

Liam didn’t think it was that simple.

But still—

It was worth checking.

Without another word, they marched to the front desk.

The innkeeper, a bald, pudgy man, blinked in surprise when he saw them approaching.

Cynthia stepped forward.

"Excuse me," she said politely, "we’re looking for our friend. A red haired boy."

The innkeeper raised a bushy brow.

"Red hair, Red hair... ah that guy!"

"Yes," Lela cut in. "We heard he rented another room. Can you tell us which one?"

The innkeeper hummed, rubbing his chin.

"Yeah, yeah, I remember him," he said.

"He paid for a room down the other hallway."

The group exchanged glances.

It wasn’t that far from theirs.

Just in a different section of the inn.

"Room fourteen, if I remember correctly," the innkeeper added.

Liam gave a short nod.

"Thanks."

Without wasting time, they headed straight there.

The hallway was eerily quiet.

Too quiet.

When they arrived at Room Fourteen, they immediately noticed something odd.

The door...

Was wide open.

Emma gulped.

A chill ran down her spine.

Cynthia stepped forward first.

With careful steps, she entered the room.

The others followed.

Emma, however, hesitated.

Something felt off.

Still—

She forced herself to step inside.

Just as they had feared, the room was completely empty, with no sigh of Rex.

However, nothing seemed out of place.

The furnitures were arranged just as they were supposed to, and there was no drop of blood on the floor, neither were there signs of struggle.

The only thing out of place was—

Liam’s eyes narrowed.

There was a plain blue shirt, lying at the corner of the bed.

Emma’s breath hitched, and she slowly approached it.

Her fingers trembled as she picked it up.

It was... familiar.

The others immediately recognized it.

It was the same shirt Rex had been wearing yesterday.

Proof that he had been here.

But—

Where was he now?

A heavy silence filled the room.

No one spoke.

Because they all knew.

This wasn’t normal.

Something had happened.

Something bad.

Lela crossed her arms tightly.

"There’s no sign of a struggle..." she murmured.

"So how did he just disappear?"

Cynthia bit her lip.

"The only explanation to this was that he was taken..."

"And whoever kidnapped him, was certainly an expert."

’Someone who dared to kidnap a Silvagold, definitely an heretic.’ Liam thought, his brows knitting into a frown.

If he used his dark tendrils, he should be able to sense the lingering mana of the perpetrator.

However, he couldn’t afford the others discovering he had the power of darkness, or else they would think he was also an heretic.

They might even suspect him for kidnapping Rex.

’How annoying, having power... but not being able to freely use it.’ He thought.

As for the others, they were completely terrified.

One of them had just vanished without a trace, and deep in their hearts, they wondered if the kidnapper would come for them next.
