Cucking The Demon King
Chapter 75: The village of Willowbrook[2]

Chapter 75: The village of Willowbrook[2]

Liam tapped his chin, thoughtful. ’Heretics, huh?’

Emerald’s voice remained firm. "We do not know if the heretics are directly responsible, but we must assume they are. Your job is to gather information and report back."

She took a step forward, her piercing gaze sweeping across the students.

"This is not a game," she stated coldly. "Heretics are dangerous individuals who have abandoned the Goddess’ light and chosen the path of darkness. They are capable of acts beyond your imagination. You must remain cautious at all times."

The atmosphere grew heavier.

Liam could feel the slight shift in the students’ demeanor. Even the most confident among them seemed to tense up.

He could also sense the knight’s fanaticism of the goddess through her words alone, and understood why she was referred to as one of the most devoted knights in the kingdom.

’But still... hehe.’ Liam thought, a strange glint flashing across his eyes.

[Always having dirty thoughts... what a cheeky incubus.]

Lilith teased.

’I just can’t help it.’ He mumbled inwardly, sighing to himself.

Even though they were about to go on a dangerous mission, all that filled his mind were thoughts of corruption the knight.

He wondered how it would feel, to strip such a devoted knight of her morals and religious beliefs, converting her into nothing but his sex slave.

’I guess... I’ve really become a demon...’ He thought, letting out a light chuckle.

Emerald’s gaze then landed on him for a brief moment before she continued.

"Each team will be assigned a designated area within Willowbrook to investigate. You will be given one day to gather information. If anything unusual occurs, retreat immediately and regroup here."

She lifted her hand, and a small blue crystal appeared in her palm.

"This is a communication crystal," she said. "Each team will be given one. If you encounter danger, activate it, and I will be alerted immediately."

She handed the first crystal to Liam, who casually took it. Her fingers briefly brushed against his as he did, but she didn’t react.

Another was handed to Emma.

Emerald then clasped her hands behind her back.

"We move in twenty minutes," she announced. "Use this time to prepare yourselves."

With that, she stepped back, giving them space.

The students broke into small groups, whispering among themselves.

Liam remained in place, casually spinning the crystal between his fingers. His mind, however, was occupied with thoughts about Emerald.

She intrigued him.

Despite her cold exterior, she had a strong presence. Her power was undeniable, and her beauty was impossible to ignore.

’For now, let me just focus on the mission.’ He thought, shaking off all dirty thoughts from his mind, or at least, he tried to.

He and his group were meant to focus on the southern part of the village, gathering any information they could find.

They were meant to do every thing discreetly, trying their best to not gather even the slightest bit of attention.

The other group was meant to explore the northern part of the village.

Emerald on the other hand, was going to focus on the eastern part.

And after about three days, they were going to meet up at the cave again, then discuss about the next step they should take.

However, the fact that they’d have to exterminate all the villagers still lingered at the back of Liam’s mind.

Emerald hadn’t said anything about it, and he wondered how they were going to go about it.

’Will we be grouped again... and asked to kill them all?’ He thought, his brows knitting into a frown.

He then shifted his gaze to Emma, who was standing beside him.

She was blushing a bit, her eyes fixed ahead almost like her neck was stiff.

’She doesn’t look too worried. Maybe... I shouldn’t bother myself too much with all this.’ Liam thought, letting out a low sigh.

A few minutes later, they finally arrived at the village.

Just like they heard, the village was quite scanty, with only a few people moving here and there.

Liam observed the village, his brows slightly furrowed.

For a place so close to the demon kingdom, the villagers seemed... content.

He had heard countless rumors about how these border villages suffered from frequent demon attacks. Most were said to live in constant fear, barely scraping by each day.

Yet, the people here were smiling.

Children played in the streets, laughing and chasing each other without a care. Women sat by their stalls, selling fruits and chatting casually, their expressions relaxed. Even the few men Liam spotted walking by didn’t seem wary or on edge.

It was... odd.

’They don’t look like they’re suffering at all,’ He thought, narrowing his eyes.

For a brief moment, a strange thought crossed his mind.

’Could this be why the church wants to wipe them out?’

It wasn’t just that the village was close to the demon kingdom.

It was the fact that they were happy.

Liam scoffed.

’So much for spreading the Goddess’ light.’

Still, this was just an observation. He needed more information before jumping to conclusions.

The students exchanged glances before deciding to stop by an inn.

They had been walking for a while, and exhaustion was starting to set in.

Even though Liam wasn’t tired in the slightest, he agreed to the break. Not because he actually needed rest, but because there was something he had to do.

They found a small inn at the far end of the village.

The building was simple, made of sturdy wooden planks with a stone foundation. A wooden sign with the words Willow Inn hung above the entrance, slightly worn from age.

Pushing open the door, they stepped inside.

The inn’s interior was cozy. A large fireplace crackled at the far end of the room, casting a warm glow over the wooden furniture. A few villagers sat at the tables, eating simple meals and talking in low voices.

The innkeeper, a plump woman with graying hair, glanced up from the counter as they entered.

"You travelers?" She asked in surprise.

It was rare to see travellers in the village, as most people usually avoided it in fear of getting attacked by demons or heretics.

Emma nodded. "Yes. We’d like to rent some rooms."

The innkeeper wiped her hands on her apron before gesturing toward the stairs.

"Got a couple left. How long you staying?"

Emma hesitated before replying, "Just a few days."

The woman nodded and placed a few keys on the counter.

"Five silver per night. Meals included."

Emma paid the woman, then handed out the keys.

The three girls—Emma, Lela, and Cynthia—decided to share one room.

Liam and Rex were assigned to another.

Rex’s face immediately soured.

"What?" he muttered, clearly displeased.

Liam smirked.

The moment Rex heard they’d be staying in the same room, he visibly shivered. He briefly glanced at Liam, his jaw tightening.

Liam simply smiled, flashing him a knowing look.

’Oh, this is going to be fun.’

Still, he didn’t say anything. Instead, he took his key and turned toward the stairs.

As he passed by the girls, he casually waved at them.

"See you later."

To his amusement, all three of them blushed.

Even Emma, who usually tried to keep a straight face, looked away awkwardly.

Rex, on the other hand, looked like he was about to explode.

His hands clenched into fists, his face turning red—not from embarrassment, but from frustration.

He wanted to say something.

Liam could tell.

But in the end, he swallowed his words and stormed up the stairs.

Liam chuckled before following behind.

Their room was simple but clean.

Two beds were arranged opposite each other, with a wooden table in the center. A pitcher of water and two mugs sat on top of it.

Liam scanned the room before nodding to himself.

’Not bad.’

He casually walked over to the bed on the right and sat down.

Rex lingered by the door, his expression unreadable.

Liam ignored him and laid back, resting his arms behind his head.

For a while, there was silence.

Then, without a word, Rex walked over to his own bed and sat down.

His body was stiff, his shoulders tense.

Liam smirked.

’Still afraid, huh?’

Even though Rex tried to act tough, it was obvious.

The way he refused to meet Liam’s gaze, the way his fingers twitched slightly... he was terrified.

And that only made Liam more amused.

’Don’t worry, Rex. My revenge isn’t over yet.’

Still, for now, he had other things to focus on.

There was something that had been bugging him since they entered the village, and it only got worse when they lodged in this inn.

Liam stood up.

"I’m heading out for a bit," he said casually.

Rex didn’t respond.

Liam frowned before turning towards the door.

’What a strange energy... could it be, demons or heretics?’ He thought, clicking his tongue in annoyance.

[There is something weird about this place for sure...]

Lilith suddenly said, and the frown on his face deepened in confusion.
