Cucking The Demon King -
Chapter 67: Divinity
Chapter 67: Divinity
’But to think you were right, Lilith... the Holy Light didn’t detect any sin on me.’
Liam walked through the stone corridors of the Holy Church, his smirk lingering as he replayed the scene in his head.
Evelyn’s shocked expression, the way her faith wavered in that moment—it was perfect.
He had been fully prepared to bluff his way out of the confession, but in the end, he didn’t even have to.
The Holy Light reflected brilliantly off him, as if he were the purest man in the world.
[Of course, I was right.]
Lilith’s voice rang in his head, filled with amusement.
[But still, what you did back there was quite risky.]
Liam scoffed. ’Risky? You were the one who told me I will be safe from detection in the first place.’
[Yes, I speculated. I never said it was guaranteed.]
That made Liam pause. His smirk faltered just a little. ’Wait... so you weren’t completely sure?’
[Not entirely. I had a strong theory, but you could’ve been exposed if I was wrong.]
’Lilith...’ His brows twitched in irritation. ’And you let me walk into that room without warning me properly?’
[Oh, don’t be so dramatic, Liam. I had faith in my judgment. Besides, it worked out, didn’t it?]
Liam sighed, shaking his head. He couldn’t argue with that.
’So? Why did it work out? Why didn’t the Holy Light detect my sins?’
Lilith chuckled.
[I’ve been thinking about it, from the time I saw the name of your system.]
[Divine lust system... it wouldn’t be called that for just any reason. At least, the ’divine’ in it should mean something.]
[You’re not an ordinary incubus. You’re a Divine Incubus. Your soul contains divinity, albeit a small amount. That’s why the Holy Light didn’t react to you the way it should have.]
Liam’s eyes widened slightly.
He had always knew he was a divine incubus. After all, it was literally written as his race on the system.
However, not once did it cross his mind that he might possess divinity, enough to make the holy light consider him a pure soul.
Divinity was considered the holiest of energies by the church, and based on what he knew, there were two ways one could acquire divinity.
The first was for it to be bestowed directly by the goddess or any of the other divine beings.
However, the only ones in the history of Lumeria to have recieved this kind of blessing were the knight king, supreme priest and the other four heads of the noble families.
The other was by increasing the mastery of one’s blessing.
By reaching the grandmaster rank, one would unlock a tiny trace of divinity, which would boost their power by leaps and bounds.
But then, the only way to fully unlock one’s divinity was by reaching the last and finally mastery rank, which was the saint rank.
The only one who had reached in the world was the knight king, possessing enough power to level a country.
The knight king also had the most powerful divinity in the world, which was why he was a huge force for the demons to reckon.
Yet despite being a demon, Liam had something similar to him, which was divinity.
[Your existence is... unique. I’ve never heard of a demon possessing divinity.]
Liam processed that information carefully. It explained why he had gone unnoticed despite literally being a creature of sin.
’So, let me get this straight. As long as I have divinity in me, the Church’s purification techniques won’t work on me?’
[Correct. To them, you appear as a pure soul, despite everything you’ve done.]
A dark grin spread across Liam’s face.
’That’s... very useful.’
[Indeed. But don’t get cocky just yet. Your divinity is small. If they use a stronger method, like a direct blessing from the Supreme Priest, things might turn out differently.]
Liam hummed in thought. That was something to keep in mind.
But for now, he had more pressing matters to think about.
’What about Elsa and the others?’ he asked, shifting the conversation.
[What about them?]
’Their confessions. A week ago, I made sure to... guide them into embracing their desires. But what if the Holy Light detected their sins? Wouldn’t they be in trouble?’
Lilith let out an amused sigh.
[You worry too much, Liam. I doubt those girls feel any guilt, even though you made sure to... guide them very well.]
She emphasised a bit on that last statement, and Liam coughed lightly.
He remembered calling the girls a few days, speaking to them about what about in the classroom.
He saw that apart from Elsa, the other two still felt a bit ashamed about what they did.
He then spoke to them, erasing any form of guilt in their mind.
According to him, there was nothing to be shy about giving in to your true desires, as long as it didn’t involve hurting innocents.
Usually, such a method wouldn’t work, but thanks to his sliver tongue skill, he was able to easily reach into their hearts, making them feel like what they did was normal.
[Besides, your divinity shields your actions, so there was never any ’sin’ in the first place.]
Liam smirked. ’I see. That’s nice, now I don’t have to worry too much about the church.’
[Exactly.]
That put him at ease. The last thing he needed was for the Church to start investigating Elsa, Lela, and Grace.
Despite only knowing them recently, he considered them his women, especially after their activities in that classroom.
It was his duty to protect them from any form of harm, and make sure they weren’t implicated by his actions.
As Liam approached the main hall, the other students were starting to emerge one by one from their confessions.
Many of them looked disheartened.
Whispers filled the air.
"They found sins in me..."
"I won’t be allowed to go on the mission..."
"They said I need corrective therapy..."
Liam scoffed to himself. The Church’s methods were as cruel as ever.
Those who were found with sins wouldn’t be allowed on the upcoming mission. Instead, they would be subjected to ’corrective therapy’—a strict, forceful process where priests would work to ’cleanse’ their hearts and make them fully submit to the goddess.
It was a brutal method, one that stripped away a person’s individuality.
’Tch. What a joke,’ Liam thought.
Soon, a familiar trio stepped out.
Elsa, Lela, and Grace.
The moment Elsa saw Liam, her face lit up.
"Liam!"
She practically ran toward him, throwing her arms around his neck in a tight hug.
Liam chuckled, wrapping an arm around her waist.
The students turned to them, staring on in shock as they watched Elsa hug him affectionately.
Nonetheless, neither Liam or Elsa cared about what they think, and simply continued with their business.
"You seem happy to see me," he teased.
Elsa pouted. "Of course I am. I was worried about you!"
Lela and Grace stood beside them, smiling softly.
"So? How did it go?" Liam asked.
Elsa grinned. "It was fine. No problems at all."
Liam smirked. ’Just as expected.’
His gaze then drifted slightly, landing on a certain black-haired girl with purple eyes.
She was very beautiful, and even as she walked, different pairs of eyes were glued onto her.
’Rhea.’ Liam thought, wondering when the last time he saw the girl.
She had just stepped out of the confession room, but the moment she saw Liam, she quickly turned her gaze away and walked off.
Elsa noticed.
"Hmph. She’s so rude." She muttered.
Liam chuckled. "Don’t worry about it. It doesn’t matter."
A few hours later, Liam and the other students who passed the confessions gathered in one of the training halls.
Their instructor, a tall, brown haired man clad in a long white robe addressed them.
He also had the pendant hung on his neck, slightly reflecting the light.
"You’ve all been deemed worthy to serve the goddess on the battlefield," He announced. "Next week, you will return to the church for a special meeting with the High Priest. There, you will receive your mission assignments."
Murmurs spread through the crowd.
The excitement was palpable.
"We’re finally going to be useful to the kingdom!"
"I can’t wait to prove myself!"
While most of the students were thrilled, Elsa, Lela, and Grace didn’t share their enthusiasm.
"What if we’re not placed in the same group as you?" Elsa asked Liam, frowning.
Liam smirked. "Don’t worry. It’ll be fine."
On the surface, he reassured them.
But deep down, he felt disgusted.
Fighting for a Church and a Kingdom that abandoned him just because he didn’t awaken a blessing?
It made his blood boil.
But...
At least he could use this opportunity to grow stronger.
That was the only reason he was even considering going along with this.
The next day...
Liam lay on his bed, casually chatting with Lilith about his skills.
Then—
KNOCK KNOCK.
A knock at his door.
He got up and opened it.
Standing there was a woman with long blonde hair and striking purple eyes.
She was beautiful. Incredibly so.
And her body...
Slender yet curvaceous, with a certain elegance to her posture.
She smiled.
"My, my. You’ve grown quite a bit since the last time I saw you."
Liam stared at her, momentarily surprised.
Then, his lips parted.
"...Evangeline? You’re here?"
