Chapter 64: Let the truth unfold

The edges of his lips curled up slightly, and he relaxed his back on the chair.

"I don’t know... do you?" He suddenly asked, not even bothering to answer her previous question.

The nun’s eyes widened slightly, and her brow furrowed in annoyance.

However, it was only for a brief moment, and her face soon returned back to its neutral, serene expression.

"I’m already forgiven, all my sins have been washed away by her grace." She muttered, gently placing a hand over her chest.

A warm smile appeared on her lips, proud at the lack of desires other than that of the goddess in her heart.

"I know am without sin, but... I can’t say the same for you." She said, turning back to Liam.

’Without sin? Sins washed away?’ Liam thought, barely holding back the urge to chuckle.

"You say you’re without sin." He muttered, slowly rising up on his feet.

’What... is he doing now?’ The nun wondered, narrowing her eyes at him in confusion.

"But I can show you that you’re wrong." He continued, a weird glint flashing across his eyes.

Swoosh!

A gentle wind suddenly blew across the room, and the candle flames flickered, but strangely enough, none of them went off.

"What... are you talking about?" The nurse mumbled, subconsciously stepping backwards.

Her heart pounded loudly in her chest for some reason, and a bead of sweat rolled down her forehead.

’What is this... feeling?’ She thought, lightly clutching her chest with one hand.

She could feel a strange aura emanating from Liam, however, it didn’t feel holy... neither did it exactly feel demonic.

Strange... that was the only word she could use to describe it.

Unbeknownst to her, his eyes twinkled with a dim pink glint, and a small amount of lust gas slowly oozed from his body.

A few wisps of the gas slowly seeped into her skin, gradually evoking her desires buried deep within her heart.

Her breath gradually quickened, her heart beating even faster within her chest.

’What is this...?’ She thought, her face flushing in embarrassment.

She could feel a strange heat slowly rising within her, and her thoughts started spiraling out of control.

’Holy goddess... protect my heart... from every sinful thought.’ She thought, closing her eyes as she said a quick prayer.

"What are you doing?" Liam suddenly asked, breaking her out of her thoughts.

Her eyes snapped back open, only to meet with Liam’s bright red eyes, staring right back at her.

He was standing quite close to her, and she couldn’t help but notice his devilishly handsome face, along with his well defined jawline.

’Close... too close.’ She thought, instinctively moving away from him.

But strangely enough, it was as if the more she tried moving away, the more the weird feeling intensified.

The heat rapidly coiled in her chest, spreading through her limbs like an intoxicating venom.

’Compose yourself...’ She mumbled inwardly, gnashing her teeth.

Her body felt light, yet unbearably heavy at the same time. Her thoughts, which were normally composed and pure, had become erratic, filled with emotions she couldn’t fully comprehend.

As she took another shaky step backwards, her vision blurred and her legs trembled slightly.

The heat intensified, and before she knew it, she found fluids slowly dripping from her nether regions.

’Is this a temptation... but this is too much... just too much.’ She thought.

Just then, she caught sight of Liam, whose lips were curled into a slight, knowing smirk.

’Is it him? Is he doing something... to me?’ She thought, her eyes widening in realisation.

Then—

Her heel caught the edge of the thick carpet beneath her, and she immediately stumbled.

"Ah—!" The nun shouted, her heart leaping into her throat, as her body tipped backward.

She instinctively closed her eyes, bracing for the impact of the cold stone floor.

But to her surprise, it never came.

Instead, she felt a hand firmly grip her waist, preventing her from falling to the ground.

She finally opened her eyes, only to meet once more with Liam’s handsome face.

His strong arms were still wrapped around her waist, pulling her back into the warmth of a solid chest.

"W-what... do you think you’re doing?" She mumbled, her breath hitching in her throat.

His scent flooded her senses, both masculine and dangerously enticing.

For a brief moment, her body remained frozen, her chest pressed flush against Liam’s torso, her hands gripping his sleeves in shock.

"Careful," He muttered, his voice laced with amusement.

His breath brushed against her ear, sending an involuntary shiver down her spine.

She gasped softly, struggling to regain her footing, but Liam didn’t let go.

Instead, his grip tightened slightly.

"You’re shaking," He noted, his voice deceptively gentle.

She clenched her teeth, finding the whole situation too embarrassing. "L-Let me go."

Liam tilted his head slightly, his red eyes glowing with mischief.

"Are you sure?" he whispered, his fingers lightly grazing the curve of her waist.

A sharp breath escaped her lips.

Her body... reacted.

The warmth of his touch sent a rush of something foreign—something forbidden—through her veins.

’No... this isn’t right.’ She thought, wrenching herself away, only to stumble forward.

Liam let her go, watching her with a knowing smirk.

But before she could steady herself, her vision darkened, and a wave of dizziness swept over her mind.

Her body swayed, almost like a twig in the wind.

’So... heavy...’ She thought, letting out a light grunt.

The last thing she saw was Liam’s smirk before the world faded into darkness.

When the nun’s eyes fluttered open, she found herself standing in an endless white space.

The air was still.

Silent.

Weightless.

’Where... am I?’ Sister Evelyn mumbled.

She turned her head, her long black hair swaying gently. There was nothing. No walls. No ceiling. No sky. Just an infinite void of white stretching endlessly in all directions.

Then, a voice.

"You’re finally awake."

Her body stiffened.

Slowly, she turned around—

And there he was.

Liam.

Standing just a few feet away, his hands tucked casually into his pockets, his red eyes glowing with a predatory gleam.

A slow, easy smirk played on his lips.

Sister Evelyn instinctively took a step back.

"What... is this place?" she demanded, her voice trembling slightly.

Liam chuckled. "A dream."

Her brows furrowed. "A... dream?"

"That’s right." He took a slow step forward.

She narrowed her eyes. "What do you mean?"

"I mean... you’re dreaming." Liam replied, shrugging nonchalantly.

Confusion flickered across the face of the nun, and she took another glance at her surroundings, but none of it still made any sense to her.

’I’m dreaming?’ She questioned herself, her face squeezing into a frown.

No... it felt too real to be a dream.

The air. The warmth of her skin. The way her heart pounded inside her chest.

Everything felt real.

Liam took another step toward her.

She instinctively stepped back—

Only to find that her body wouldn’t move.

’What?!’ Her eyes widened in shock.

"What’s wrong?" Liam asked, an amused glint flickering in his gaze.

She gritted her teeth. "What... did you do to me?"

"Do you think you can get away, with whatever this is supposed to be?" She said, letting out a low chuckle.

"Release me now, take me back to the real world... or else—"

"Nuns shouldn’t be giving out threats you know?" Liam muttered, a smirk plastered on his lips.

"I already told you before, this is a dream, and I’m going to show you... the truth about yourself." He continued, slowly moving closer to the nun.

"Truth about myself...?" Evelyn muttered, her eyes narrowing in annoyance.

"Yes, the truth and nothing but the truth." Liam replied, suddenly snapping his fingers.

With a mere flick of his fingers, the space around them shifted.

The endless white void rapidly melted away, replaced by a rather simple chamber.

A small white bed rested in the centre, draped in light gold silk.

The previously still air became thick, warm, laced with an intoxicating scent she couldn’t quite place.

Sister Evelyn’s throat went dry as she stared at the bed, as well as the her newfound surroundings.

’This... this is...’ She thought, her pulse hammering against her skin.

She easily recognised where she was, because this place was none other than her room within the church!

"How... is this possible?" She mumbled, taking a step backward in shock.

It looked exactly like she remembered, from the white curtains, to the golden silk spread out on her bed.

Meanwhile, Liam’s lips curled up into another smirk, finding her reactions quite amusing.

"I already told you, you’re only dreaming." He muttered, his words sending chills down her spine.

"That’s enough... stop messing with me!" She shouted, stretching her hand forward.

Her violet eyes gleamed, but they quickly died down, and she gasped in surprise.

’My blessing... I can’t activate my blessing!’ She thought, realising just how much danger she was in.

"Why are you in such a hurry?" Liam’s voice suddenly came from behind, and her body froze up in shock.

"Just wait... and let the truth unfold." He muttered, snapping his fingers once again.
