Cucking The Demon King -
Chapter 109: In Trouble[1]
Chapter 109: In Trouble[1]
The demonic beast let out another earth-shaking roar before charging straight at Cynthia, its massive claws digging into the ground as it propelled itself forward.
Red lightning crackled wildly around its body, arcing across the air with a violent hiss. With each stomp, the ground trembled beneath its weight, and every step sent dust and pebbles flying in all directions. Its speed was terrifying—far faster than its size should have allowed.
Cynthia barely had a moment to react. Gritting her teeth, she stretched out her hand, and a bright light burst forth from her palm.
A white, translucent barrier materialized in front of her, glowing brilliantly against the dim atmosphere of the village street. The barrier shimmered like a solidified piece of light, sturdy yet radiant.
The beast slammed into it at full speed.
Boom!
The impact was like an explosion, sending a powerful shockwave rippling through the surroundings.
It kicked up quite an amount of dust, sending loose debris flying.
Wooden stalls nearby creaked under the pressure, and weaker structures trembled from the force.
Cynthia staggered slightly from the recoil, her boots scraping against the stone road as she dug in her heels to keep her stance firm.
Even though she was behind the barrier, the sheer force of the collision made her bones rattle.
’It’s even stronger than I thought!’ she thought, sweat dripping down her temple.
She clenched her other hand into a fist, forcing herself to remain calm.
This was the power of her blessing—Shield of Light. A rare-grade blessing that allowed her to create near-impenetrable barriers capable of blocking and even repelling attacks.
It was a formidable ability, one that had saved her life more times than she could count.
But it had a weakness.
It consumed far too much mana.
Each time she conjured a shield, a huge chunk of her magic reserves drained away. If she overused it, she wouldn’t last long.
And against a beast like this...
She needed to be careful.
The demonic beast growled in frustration, shaking its head violently as if dazed from the collision.
Then, without hesitation, it lunged again.
Its horns crackled with red lightning, energy surging through them as it prepared to strike a second time.
Cynthia’s eyes widened. She wasn’t ready to cast another shield just yet.
The beast was too fast.
Lela, still standing a few feet away, watched the scene unfold with clenched fists.
The villagers who had been caught in the earlier shockwave remained motionless on the ground, their bodies faintly smoking from the red lightning that had struck them.
’Are they... really dead?’ she thought, her throat tightening.
Everything had happened so quickly. The attack, the destruction, the screams—it was too much to process at once.
But she had no time to dwell on it.
The beast was attacking again.
Cynthia swiftly sidestepped, narrowly avoiding the beast’s charge. The creature barreled past her, its horns slicing through the air where she had stood just moments ago.
It crashed into a nearby stone wall, sending cracks splintering through the surface.
Before it could recover, Cynthia tightened her grip on her spear and lunged forward.
She thrust her weapon straight at the beast’s exposed side.
Clang!
A loud metallic clang rang out as the tip of her spear struck the creature’s hardened hide. Sparks flew upon impact, but the weapon barely left a scratch.
Cynthia’s eyes widened.
’That didn’t pierce it?!’ she thought, quickly retreating a few steps.
The beast snarled, twisting its body toward her with its eyes glowing a deep, malevolent red.
Then, without warning—
Crack!
A surge of red lightning erupted from its horns, streaking through the air toward her.
Cynthia barely had time to react. She threw up another barrier on instinct.
Boom!
The lightning struck the shield with a deafening crash, sending another shockwave through the street. Cynthia felt the impact vibrate through her entire body, forcing her to brace against the ground.
Her breathing grew heavier.
With how bad things were going, it was obvious she couldn’t keep this up forever.
Her mana was already starting to dwindle, while the beast’s attack only kept getting more ferocious.
At this rate, she would be overpowered sooner or later.
Lela watched from the side, her hands tightening into fists.
She had to do something.
She couldn’t just stand there while Cynthia fought alone.
Gritting her teeth, she reached down and grabbed the daggers strapped to her waist.
The cool metal felt reassuring in her grip.
Taking a deep breath, she lowered her body into a stance and sprinted forward.
Bright white boots immediately materialised over her legs, white particles floating all around it.
Her speed suddenly increased significantly, and her body grew over twice lighter.
Lela’s lips curled up slightly, relishing in the warm sensation coursing through her body.
Though her blessing was only a rate grade, she still loved it, especially how it made her feel like she stepped into a whole new dimension.
The beast, still locked onto Cynthia, didn’t seem to notice her approaching from the side.
’Good.’ She thought, narrowing her eyes at it.
She closed the distance in a flash, using her speed to weave through the battlefield.
Then, with a swift motion, she leaped into the air, spinning her daggers downward toward the beast’s exposed back.
Slash!
Her blades cut deep into the monster’s flesh.
The demonic beast howled in pain, its body jerking violently from the unexpected attack.
Lela landed gracefully on the ground, quickly flipping backward to create distance.
Blood dripped from her daggers, and for the first time since the battle started, the beast hesitated.
Its furious red eyes locked onto her, burning with raw hatred.
Lela smirked.
"Yeah, that’s right," she muttered, twirling her daggers. "Come at me."
The beast let out a deep, guttural growl, then lunged straight at her.
But this time, Lela was ready.
She darted to the side, moving with the agility of a trained assassin.
The beast’s horns missed her by inches, and as it passed, she slashed at its legs.
Her blades cut into its flesh once more, and the creature stumbled slightly from the sudden pain.
Cynthia, seeing an opening, pointed the her spear at the beast.
A golden light flickered at its tip.
She took a deep breath, then thrusted the weapon forward.
A small shield shot through the air like a comet, glowing brilliantly as it aimed straight for the beast’s head.
Boom!
A deafening explosion erupted as the shield struck its target, embedding itself deep inside the beast’s head.
Light burst outward in a dazzling display, momentarily blinding everyone nearby.
Lela shielded her eyes with her arm, squinting through the radiant glow.
As the light faded, she saw the beast lying on the ground, its body still twitching.
Its fur was charred, and smoke rose from the deep wound in its skull.
But it wasn’t dead.
Not yet.
The beast let out a weak, guttural growl, its body trembling as it tried to rise.
Cynthia walked forward, gripping her spear in her hands.
Her expression was cold.
Without hesitation, she raised the weapon high—
And plunged it straight into the beast’s heart.
A final, pained howl escaped the creature’s throat before its body went limp.
Then, at last—
Silence.
Cynthia let out a heavy breath, pulling her spear free.
Lela exhaled as well, stepping closer to inspect the beast.
It was dead.
Finally.
She glanced over at Cynthia, who was clearly exhausted. The girl’s mana reserves were probably running low after using so many barriers.
"We should move," Lela muttered, looking around. "There might be more of them nearby."
Cynthia nodded, wiping sweat from her brow.
A low, guttural growl echoed through the air.
Then another.
And another.
Lela and Cynthia both froze, their breath catching in their throats as the ominous sounds surrounded them.
The first beast lay motionless at their feet, its body still smoldering from Cynthia’s final strike. But before they could even process their victory, a new danger had already revealed itself.
More beasts.
Lots more.
Lela’s grip on her daggers tightened as she forced herself to turn her head, her heart pounding in her chest.
Emerging from the dimly lit streets and the surrounding alleys, dark figures slinked into view one by one. Their red eyes glowed menacingly, burning like embers in the night.
A dozen, maybe more.
Each one identical to the first—massive, dog-like creatures with thick, bristling fur, red lightning crackling around their horns. Their muscular limbs tensed as they stepped forward, claws scraping against the stone road, tails flicking with agitation.
"Oh no..." Lela muttered, her voice barely above a whisper.
She tried counting them, but after reaching ten, she stopped.
There were too many.
One had already been a struggle for both of them to handle.
Now there were more than a dozen.
They were in trouble.
Cynthia took an unconscious step backward, her breathing shallow.
Her body was exhausted.
She had already spent a huge amount of mana creating barriers against the first beast. If they had to fight this many, she didn’t know how long she would last.
