Chapter 104: Jaegel’s Stats

Liam’s grip on his sword tightened as his gaze bore into Jaegel’s trembling form.

He took a slow step forward, lowering his weapon until the tip rested against the heretic’s neck.

A thin line of crimson trickled down the man’s pale skin, the cold steel pressing just enough to remind him how fragile his life was at this moment.

"What have you done to them?" Liam’s voice was quiet, almost eerily so, yet the weight behind it was suffocating.

Jaegel shuddered violently, his breath catching in his throat.

His body was frozen in fear, every muscle tensed as though even the smallest movement would seal his fate.

The pressure emanating from Liam had already been unbearable, but now, with death quite literally at his throat, his entire being was consumed by terror.

"I—I don’t know if they’re in danger," Jaegel stammered, his voice quivering. "But—b-but I can’t say for sure how they’re faring either."

Liam’s eyes remained cold, unblinking, as the heretic rushed to explain. His hand trembled as he clutched at his bleeding neck, his breath coming in ragged gasps.

"My blessing..." Jaegel swallowed hard, his fear evident. "It’s called Dark Domain."

Liam didn’t react, but he listened carefully, his mind processing every word.

He had already scanned his stats using [Eye of Truth], so he knew the name of his blessing was indeed Dark domain.

But since the skill only displayed the name of the blessing and not a full detailed explanation, he didn’t know its full capabilities.

Jaegel exhaled shakily before continuing, knowing that his only hope of survival lay in his ability to satisfy Liam’s demand for answers.

"With this power, I can create a domain by spreading out my shadow. Inside my domain, I have absolute control," He explained, his voice gaining a bit more steadiness.

At least, that was what he thought, until he met Liam.

Normally, he would be almost invincible in his domain, as long as an attack more powerful than it could hold

A bitter smile tugged at the corners of his lips, but it quickly faded as he felt the blade press a little deeper into his skin. He winced, immediately forcing himself to continue.

"I can spread my shadow in multiple directions, forming more than one domain at a time. These domains are connected, almost like linked doorways," he went on. "And I can teleport myself—or anyone else—between them in an instant."

Liam’s expression darkened slightly. His grip on the hilt of his sword grew firmer, but he said nothing, allowing the heretic to finish.

"The moment you and the others entered this cave, I activated my ability," Jaegel confessed, his voice now barely above a whisper. "I didn’t want to fight all of you together. My plan was to separate you, to deal with you one by one."

Liam’s gaze sharpened, his blood running cold.

"The girls," he muttered. "Where did you send them?"

Jaegel clenched his jaw, his entire body shaking under Liam’s merciless presence. He knew that if he didn’t choose his words carefully, he wouldn’t leave this cave alive.

"They were transported to different locations," he admitted. "Each one was sent to a separate domain, far away from here."

Liam’s eyes flared with fury, his patience wearing dangerously thin. If the girls had been sent too far—if something happened to them before he could reach them—

The thought sent a cold rage coursing through his veins.

Jaegel’s plan had been to isolate him.

To pick them off one by one.

And now, Emma and the others were alone, trapped in an unknown place, completely vulnerable.

Liam’s grip on his blade trembled slightly, the air around him growing heavier, suffused with his barely contained wrath.

The heretic felt it too. His breath quickened, his pulse racing as he saw death reflected in Liam’s crimson eyes.

"Please...!" Jaegel’s voice cracked with desperation. "I—It was just a strategy! I didn’t do anything else to them! They’re still alive!"

Liam exhaled sharply, his expression dark and unreadable. His mind was already working through every possible scenario.

He needed to find them.

And he needed to do it now.

Liam’s crimson eyes gleamed coldly as he looked down at the trembling heretic. His sword remained at the man’s throat, its gleaming edge still stained with his blood. His patience was running thin.

"Bring them back," Liam ordered, his voice sharp and unwavering. "If you want to keep your life, return them now."

Jaegel’s entire body tensed, his breath hitching in his throat. He gnawed at his lower lip, his nerves fraying under the suffocating pressure.

"I—I can’t," he stammered, his voice barely above a whisper.

Liam’s eyes narrowed dangerously. "What?"

Jaegel shivered violently, his jaw clenching so tightly it hurt. He could already feel the annoyance radiating off Liam. His instincts screamed at him to say something, anything, before the demon before him decided to end his life on the spot.

But the truth was the truth.

"I don’t have enough mana left," Jaegel admitted through gritted teeth, his body trembling even harder.

He felt utterly pathetic. The words tasted bitter in his mouth, but there was no way to avoid them.

The dark scythes he had unleashed earlier had consumed a massive chunk of his mana. And before that, Rex’s attack had drained him even further, forcing him to use even more power to maintain his domain. He hadn’t had the chance to recover, and now—

Now he was at his limit.

His fingers twitched as he clenched his fist against the ground, his pride barely keeping him from collapsing completely.

Liam’s brow twitched in irritation, his expression hardening. His teeth gnashed together audibly, his frustration evident.

"Then tell me," Liam said, his voice dropping lower, his tone laced with something far more dangerous than mere anger. "Why shouldn’t I kill you right now?"

Jaegel’s heart nearly stopped.

A cold sweat broke out across his skin, rolling uncontrollably down his face. His entire body shuddered under the crushing pressure that suddenly intensified around him.

His mouth opened, but—

No sound came out.

His lips quivered, but they refused to form words.

His entire being was frozen, his throat parched, his mind unable to function properly.

The weight pressing down on him was unlike anything he had ever experienced before. It wasn’t just power.

It was domination.

Pure, unrelenting dominance.

His thoughts raced wildly, panic gripping his chest like a vice.

’Who is he, really?!’ He thought, but there was no one to answer his question.

Jaegel could not understand it. He had fought countless powerful beings before—he had even faced people with higher blessings than his own. But this—this was something entirely different.

This was not just a battle of strength.

It was an overwhelming, suffocating authority.

And right now, that authority was crushing him into the ground.

Liam stared down at the trembling man, his crimson eyes glowing with an eerie light. The blade at Jaegel’s throat gleamed under the dim cave light, its presence a silent promise of death. But then—

Liam sighed.

He pulled back his sword.

At the same time, the suffocating pressure that had been bearing down on Jaegel vanished.

Jaegel collapsed onto the cold, hard ground, gasping desperately for air. His entire body trembled violently, his muscles refusing to respond properly. His lungs burned, and his vision blurred at the edges.

He had never felt so close to death.

For a moment, all he could do was lay there, his chest rising and falling rapidly as he tried to steady his breathing.

The overwhelming sensation of being at someone’s absolute mercy—of being so utterly powerless—was a nightmare he never thought he’d experience.

And yet, here he was.

A shudder ran through his body as the reality of his situation sank in.

This was supposed to be his domain.

His battlefield.

Here, he was meant to be unstoppable.

And yet... he had been utterly bullied.

Jaegel swallowed thickly, his throat dry. A deep humiliation burned inside him, but there was nothing he could do about it.

Even now, his instincts screamed at him—don’t move. Don’t even think about attacking.

The difference in their power was simply too vast.

Foolishly challenging Liam again would only bring him one thing—death.

And he had no intention of dying today.

His fingers twitched against the ground, but he made no move to get up. He forced his breathing to steady, but his body still refused to stop shaking. The memory of Liam’s overwhelming pressure was etched into his very soul.

His survival depended on one thing now.

Obedience.

Jaegel clenched his fists, trying to suppress the bitterness rising in his chest.

There was nothing else he could do.

Meanwhile, Liam hissed, staring at the set of tabs floating in front of him.

’He isn’t lying, his mana is truly too low to bring them back.’ He thought, tightening his grip on his sword.
