Chapter 13: effortlessly alluring

That evening, Alexander held his breath as he watched Damon’s hand snake around the princess’s waist as he led her towards the dance floor.

The frustration and jealousy he had tried to keep in check all day long threatened to burst forth as he watched them sway to the tune of the slow music that was playing.

Several other couples joined the floor to dance but Alexander’s eyes were solely fixed on Damon.

The way his blue eyes seemed to twinkle with amusement as he laughed at whatever the princess in his arms was saying.

A dark cloud loomed over his head as he decided to take a break from having his emotions triggered and his mind messed with.

Alexander stepped outside, his eyes meeting the crowd of amused and heavily drunk soldiers that had returned victorious from fighting the monsters that were making attacks on human settlements.

The party that was being held was for these brave men as a token of appreciation.

Fighting orges, giants and dragons took a lot of bravery.

Having an ugly beast, twice your height and three times your size chasing you around with a wooden club was not something for the faint of heart.

Alexander let himself go and chat with a few of his former comrades, deciding to put thoughts on Damon aside for a few hours.

That man had wreaked enough havoc within him. Turmoil that could last weeks.

Damon frowned as he glanced around, trying to find Alexander amongst the crowd of spectators.

He was no where in sight.

Carina noticed his unease and shook her head, an understanding smile working it’s way to her lips.

"Relax, he will be back." She assured and Damon met her eyes with a slightly irritated look.

"You don’t know that." He replied and she smirked.

"I do but you should take some time to relax. Enjoy the evening, pursuing Alexander is consuming all your time and energy." She noted and Damon sighed softly.

She was right.

Damon had been so fixated on conquering this man that he had started to lose sight of the other things that mattered.

"Excuse me." He said politely once their dance was done and proceeded to find his annoying sisters.

They were seated at a corner table, turning down every man that offered them his hand to dance.

It was their routine.

"You two will end up spinsters, at this rate." He said teasing them yet he was serious.

Damon wasn’t lying. These girls had turned down nearly every noble man he knew.

They were pretty, blessed with light brown hair that was nearing to blonde and sky blue eyes.

Their most obvious flaw in character was that they were two times as picky. No man seemed to match their standards.

Daphne glared at him.

"All these men are boring." She stated matter of factly.

"They can barely engage our brains that need constant intellectual stimulation." Davina complained.

"All they talk about are their titles, their intentions which is to marry us and have us give them huge families. Can you imagine having eight children? One suitor told me he wanted a dozen!" Daphne exclaimed and Damon shook his head, slightly regretting why he had sought them out.

They were going to voice their complaints forever.

He smiled faintly.

"I am sorry for your constant disappointment my beloved sisters but you are not getting any younger. You know you will have to marry someday." Damon reminded them and they both frowned.

Of course they knew that...but...

"Why don’t you go back and dance with your princess?" Daphne asked, irritated.

"Because I want to spend some time with you brats..." He smiled cheekily.

"We are not brats...you are." They both retorted in unison and a brief silence passed before they all burst out in laughter.

"Fine, you can stay. I don’t mind the company." Davina relented.

"Same." Daphne agreed.

"Unlike you two, I don’t intend to spend my evening seated at a table." He informed them and their brows quirked up in a silent question.

"We could dance." Damon suggested as he noticed a circle of about four people that had their hands hooked and were swirling in a circle. They looked happy.

After a fair amount of persuasion, Daphne and Davina allowed him to lead both of them to the dance floor where they all danced the hours away.

Damon let a smile of contentment play on his lips as he watched his sisters laughing happily as they swirled around in a circle that was later joined by Davon, his mother and father too.

It was a memory that he could forever cherish.

They were one big happy family.

...

As the night wore on, Damon had drunk quite a fair amount of wine and his head felt a little fuzzy as he made his way to his chambers with Alexander following closely behind.

He was a bit intoxicated and that was all he needed to boldly carry out his next plan.

"Alexander, come inside." He invited him into his room.

Alexander did as he was told, his face a little weary as he looked at the prince whose eyes were dazed and his cheeks flashed from alcohol.

The view strangely reminded him of that night when they had...

He could feel his cheeks heat up as he averted his gaze.

This man was a walking temptation.

"You’ve been very bad, Alexander." Damon drawled as he made his way towards him.

Alexander stepped back until his back hit the wall.

"How have I been bad?" He asked, utterly confused as he watched Damon corner him and pin his body to the wall.

Alexander swallowed. Hard.

"You, my honorable knight are..." He paused as his eyes lowered to meet his lips.

Alexander froze...this time he was completely sober but he couldn’t find the courage to push this man away from him.

"... effortlessly alluring." Damon completed his sentence and his lips brushed over Alexander’s in a soft familiar kiss.

Alexander remained stiff, his mind registering what was happening.

Oh...he had missed this.

He realized with an emotional intensity that threatened to unerve him.

Alexander wanted nothing more than to just give in and throw all caution to the wind.

He wanted to kiss this man but his resolve and logical part of his mind held him back, like always.

All this was probably a game to this prince. Damon was playing games to mess with his mind and emotions.

If he let himself get consumed by this fire that was burning within him, then, what could happen next.

The future was blurry and it scared him.

He gently pushed Damon away from him, breaking the kiss he really wanted to continue.

"You will stay the hell away from me." Alexander threatened, his voice hard and tortured as he tried to recover from his emotional rollercoaster.
