The monkey’s massive fist was already falling!
The sheer size of it blotted out his vision, turning his world into a shadowed abyss of destruction.
Creed’s heart pounded, but deep inside, something snapped into place. He realized something horrifying.
He had been too confident. Too arrogant.
Ever since he started gaining strength so quickly, he had felt untouchable, as if he could take on the world.
The jump from his past self, the weak and powerless version of him from just a few days ago, was so massive that he had begun to think that maybe—just maybe—he was already on the path to standing at the top.
But now, here he was. Utterly powerless.
A few stat points and a couple of new Intents had made him delusional enough to believe he could stand against a monster like this!
And now he was about to pay the price.
The monkey’s fist descended like the hammer of a god, and at that moment, Creed knew he was going to die!
But then, a blur. A flash of ice. A cold hand.
WHAM!
Something slammed into his side, and before he could even process what was happening, his body was suddenly yanked away from the impending deathblow.
BOOOOOOM!
The monkey’s fist obliterated the ground where Creed had just been, shattering the earth, sending a wave of destruction outward.
Creed stumbled, his mind spinning, only to realize it was Ivy. She had saved him!
Her hand was gripping his collar, dragging him along effortlessly, her other arm already scooping up Mia like a ragdoll.
"MOVE!" she barked at the others.
Rin, Rai didn’t need to be told twice. They were already retreating, because they had no choice.
Creed turned his head just in time to see it. The Stage 5 Monkey rising to its full height, its fury uncontained, its black tail thrashing violently, carving deep gashes into the earth.
It let out a deafening roar, a sound so primal, so powerful, that Creed’s bones vibrated from the sheer force of it.
And yet it didn’t chase them. Creed’s breath hitched.
It couldn’t. Because it was the guardian of the secret realm. It was bound to that location!
And that meant they escaped by pure luck. But as Creed stared at the rampaging, howling beast, he felt no relief.
Only shame.
.....
Ten Minutes Later....
The team sat in complete silence. No one spoke. No one moved.
The only sound was the soft rustling of leaves, the distant calls of nocturnal creatures, and the occasional pained grunt from the injured.
Rai was the worst off.
Her body was covered in blood, deep gashes along her torso, her breathing ragged and shallow.
Her usually sharp eyes were dull, flickering between consciousness and unconsciousness.
Rin knelt beside her, her face dark, carefully tending to her wounds. Ivy sat a few feet away, her expression blank, her arms crossed, deep in thought.
Mia was quiet for once, holding a broken root in her hand, staring at it absently as if trying to figure out where everything went wrong.
And then there was Creed. Sitting still, staring at his own shaking hands. He had thought he understood strength. But this battle had shown him how naïve he was.
It wasn’t just about growing stronger fast. It wasn’t just about having good abilities or high stats. It was about understanding limits!
And his limits were pathetic!
If not for Ivy, he would have died. If not for their retreat, they would have all been wiped out.
Strength wasn’t just important in this world. It was everything. Nothing else mattered as much.
Not money. Not personality. Not even teamwork if you were just too weak to contribute!
The only thing that mattered was power.
Creed clenched his fists. He would never let himself feel this powerless again. Never!
A sudden voice broke the silence.
"Now that we’ve confirmed that we can’t defeat the guardian," Ivy said, her tone calm but unwavering, "it’s time for the second plan."
Creed’s head snapped up, eyes widening in shock. He had expected Ivy to say something like:
"Let’s leave."
"Let’s retreat."
"It’s not worth it."
But instead, she was already talking about a second plan.
She wasn’t giving up. She wasn’t telling them to run away like cowards. She was still going for the secret realm!
Despite knowing how dangerous it was and despite just almost dying.
Creed felt something shift inside him. She was insane. But at the same time, she was absolutely right.
This opportunity was too rare to just give up on. Creed took a deep breath, forcing down his lingering fears, and finally, a smirk crept onto his face.
"Alright," he said, voice tinged with newfound excitement.
"What’s the plan?"
.....
30 Minutes Later...
The forest was silent, but Creed’s heartbeat was deafening.
Every step forward felt like he was marching towards death, yet his body was thrumming with excitement, a twisted mix of fear and insanity bubbling inside him.
’I’m insane. I’m a madman. I should be locked up. This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever done.’
And yet here he was, walking straight toward a Stage 5 guardian beast, a creature that had already wiped the floor with their entire team, with only Ivy by his side.
Not a group. Not a squad. Not an army. Just the two of them.
"Creed," Ivy suddenly said, coming to a halt.
He turned to her, feeling the tension in the air shift. Her face was calm, but there was an edge in her beautiful eyes.
"This is your last chance to back out," she said, her tone even, almost gentle. "If you don’t want to do this, say the word, and we’ll instantly forget about it."
Creed’s body tensed. This was it. The final out. He could say no. He could step back. But his blood boiled at the thought of it.
"Back out?" Creed let out a nervous laugh, rubbing the back of his head. "Are you kidding me? What kind of crazy bastard would agree to a plan like this in the first place?"
Ivy just stared at him. Then, with a small, knowing smirk, she nodded. And with that, they charged!
Boom!
The Stage 5 Monkey’s glowing gold eyes snapped open as the vibrations of their footsteps reached its ears.
It looked up from its resting position, its massive frame shifting, and let out a low, rumbling growl as it saw them approaching once again.
Annoyance flickered in its gaze. ’These pests again? Hadn’t they learned their lesson when he beat them up the first time?’
But then it noticed there were only two of them this time. Not the whole group. Just the white-haired female and the small male pest!
For a moment, it felt a hint of curiosity. ’What are these ants up to again?’
Then it snorted, shaking its head. It didn’t matter. They had disturbed its rest. Again!
They would die.
Crack!
The monkey moved, its massive muscles flexing, its tail snapping through the air like a whip, releasing a harsh cracking sound that echoed through the trees.
And then it roared. The air shook. The ground quaked.
The battle began!
This was round 2!
Boom!
Ivy exploded forward, her entire body glowing with an almost divine white light as she activated her Bloodline Ability for the second time.
Creed felt the temperature plummet as she raised her sickle, her eyes locked onto the monster.
With a blinding slash, she struck it at full force.
BOOM!
The monkey staggered, its feet dragging several meters backward as its fur became coated in frost.
Creed’s eyes widened. She actually pushed it back! She pushed that monster back with her attack!
But before he could even feel hope, the monkey’s golden pupils flashed. With a low snarl, it shook its body, and the ice shattered instantly like it was nothing.
Then it pounced!
Whoosh!
Like a phantom, the monkey was suddenly in front of Ivy, its massive tail swinging down like a sledgehammer.
Ivy barely had time to react. She twisted her body, summoning an ice shield in an instant to block the attack.
CRACK!
The tail smashed through her defense, sending shards of ice flying in all directions. Ivy skidded backward, her feet digging into the dirt, but she didn’t falter.
She retaliated with a beam of freezing energy, launching it straight at the monkey’s chest. But the beast simply dodged, moving with a grace and speed that didn’t match its size.
Creed watched in awe and terror as Ivy fought the beast. She was faster, stronger, and fiercer than ever before, but even then, she was losing every exchange!
’Shit—she won’t last forever!’
But that was fine. She didn’t need to win. She just needed to hold it off long enough for him to get into position.
’It’s time to die!’
Creed moved. But not toward the fight.
He was circling, making it look as if he was searching for an opening, but was instead creeping around the battlefield, inching closer and closer to the crack in space behind the monkey!
His heart pounded in his chest. ’Damn it, why is this distance so damn far?!’
He forced himself to stay calm, each step precise, controlled. The monkey was too focused on Ivy. It hadn’t noticed him, the weaker pest, just yet!
Just a little more...
A little more...
And then...
He screamed mentally. ’NOW!’
Power erupted around his body as he activated Teleportation through Primordial Link.
Flash!
He was instantly 20 meters forward.
Flash!
Another jump!
He was now only 50 meters away from the crack! One more!
Flash!
He landed just 25 meters away!
And that was when the monkey’s head snapped toward him!
Creed’s blood ran cold.
A roar of pure rage shook the forest as the beast charged at him, the ground trembling under its steps.
Ivy lashed out, sending a jet of ice toward its legs, but the monkey ignored her completely. Its focus was on him now!
It’s focus was on the intruder trying to enter the secret realm!
Creed sprinted, his lungs burning, his body screaming at him to move faster. He would have teleported, but he had run out of energy!
The crack in space was right there, but so was the monkey. It was too fast. It was too close. And then, its fist came down.
A blow that would turn him into paste!
Creed’s mind screamed. ’I WON’T MAKE IT!’
He was merely a few feet away from the crack, but even that was probably too far away!
It was a gamble now!
The monkey’s fist generated air currents that impacted against Creed even before the main attack hit.
He didn’t need to be a science genius to know that he would truly die if he ate this punch!
But at the last possible second, he threw himself forward, diving into the crack.
And the world vanished.
He had made it into the secret realm!
