Chapter 37: Exactly What I Need! [Bonus]
[As promised, here’s the bonus Chapter for the review!]
Creed lay on the ground, his body a mangled mess of burns, bruises, and sheer pain.
Every inch of his skin ached, his arms were practically nonexistent, and he was pretty sure he had cooked a few internal organs.
And yet, despite his entire being screaming for rest, he managed to lift his head, his gaze locked onto Lilith.
She stood before him, her violet eyes filled with something strange—something warm.
Before he could even process it, Lilith knelt down, cupped his battered face with her delicate fingers, and kissed him.
It wasn’t passionate. It wasn’t fierce. It was soft, a gentle press of lips that lasted for just a moment.
But for Creed, whose body had just been blasted to hell and back, it was enough to short-circuit his already fried brain.
Lilith pulled back, a confident smirk on her lips.
"I won’t disappoint you, Master."
And then, her body erupted in purple lightning.
Lilith’s bat-like wings glowed, arcs of electricity dancing across her figure.
The moment she spread them wide, a faint hum filled the air, and the very space around her distorted slightly.
And then, the sixth bolt fell!
The moment it collided, the ground beneath her detonated. A massive crater formed instantly, a cloud of dust and debris bursting into the air.
Creed watched tensely, his fists clenching as his mind raced with worry.
But then the dust cleared. Lilith stood there, completely unharmed.
Creed’s eyes twitched. ’Wait, she blocked it that easily?!’
A weird thought sank into his mind.
’THEN WHY THE HELL DID I JUST GET BARBECUED?!’
But just as he was about to complain, he noticed something. Lilith was panting heavily. Her wings, though intact, were dimmer, and the lightning around her was flickering weakly.
Realization hit him.
She could block it, yes, but it was draining her strength rapidly. If she had to block all nine bolts, she would have never made it.
Creed let out a relieved sigh.
’Alright. Maybe I didn’t just commit assisted suicide for no reason.’
Boom!
The seventh bolt came down without mercy.
Lilith braced herself, once again focusing her lightning on her wings, but this time—it wasn’t enough.
The moment the strike hit, her wings tore open, blood spraying into the air. She let out a sharp gasp, her face turning pale from the pain.
Creed’s heart clenched.
But then, before his very eyes, her wings healed instantly, the wounds closing as if they had never existed.
Creed stared in shock.
’Oh, that’s just cheating.’
Still, he could see it. She was getting weaker.
Creed clenched his fists. He could do nothing but watch as she struggled.
Boom!
The eighth bolt arrived!
This one wasn’t just strong. It was monstrous.
The moment it fell, the entire sky turned black, and the very air became suffocatingly thick.
Creed’s instincts screamed at him.
He didn’t hesitate. He turned around and ran like a man late on rent day.
’NOPE. NOPE. NOPE. NOT STANDING HERE FOR THAT!’
The bolt slammed into Lilith, and the sheer force ripped the land apart.
The entire battlefield quaked, and Creed barely managed to outrun the impact radius before he was blasted off his feet.
When he looked back, Lilith was still standing, but blood was pouring from her wings, staining the ground beneath her feet.
She let out a pained groan, her arms trembling. But her eyes?
They were still burning with determination. Creed swallowed. "One more."
Boom!
Then, the final bolt fell.
The sky split open, and for a brief moment, it was as if the entire world had gone silent.
And then—BOOOOOM!
Lilith was blasted backward, her body disappearing into a massive crater as the final tribulation struck her with everything it had.
Creed’s blood ran cold.
For a few long seconds, there was nothing. No movement. No sound.
Just silence. Creed’s breath hitched.
"...Lilith?"
Nothing.
And then, panic set in.
His battered body protested violently, but he forced himself forward, stumbling toward the crater as fast as his broken legs could carry him.
"Come on, come on—"
He reached the edge, his heart pounding in his chest.
But then—
DING!
A golden screen suddenly popped up in front of him.

Beginning Evolution...]
.....
Creed froze. And then he let out a breathless laugh.
"She did it."
His legs finally gave out, and he slumped to the ground.
A wide, tired grin stretched across his face. Lilith had won!
And now she was evolving.
Creed collapsed onto the ground, his body screaming in pain, but his heart soaring in relief. They had survived.
Barely.
His skin still tingled with the aftershocks of lightning, and every muscle in his body felt like it had been run over by a battalion of war elephants, but—
They had survived.
Lilith had done it.
As he lay there, breathing heavily, his gaze wandered to the sky, where the storm clouds were finally dissipating.
The terrifying pressure that had nearly crushed him moments ago was fading, replaced by a strange, almost divine stillness.
Suddenly, a single strand of purple light descended, shimmering with an ethereal glow as it slowly merged into Lilith’s body.
And the moment it did, Lilith’s wounds began to heal at a visible speed, her torn wings restoring themselves instantly, her pale skin regaining its flawless, porcelain-like glow.
But that wasn’t all.
Her body trembled, an overwhelming aura bursting out of her, causing the very air around them to ripple like disturbed water.
Her curves became even more defined, her long purple hair flowed with a mystical sheen, and a faint, intoxicating scent of blossoms and ozone filled the air.
And then, dark, murky impurities started seeping out of her pores, evaporating into nothingness, leaving her looking even more flawless, otherworldly...
And, dare he say, dangerously seductive!
Then—
DING!

.....
Creed grinned.
"Hell yeah!"
Using what little strength he had left, he pushed himself up, his battered body screaming in protest.
But before he could even take a full breath—
"Master!"
Lilith moved. No, she pounced.
One moment, she was standing, and the next, she was wrapped around him like an excited cat, her arms squeezing him so tightly that his bones audibly creaked.
"Lilith!" Creed wheezed, his face turning slightly blue. "I CAN’T BREATHE!"
She giggled, her breath tickling his neck, before finally, sensually, letting him go, her soft lips curving into a playful smirk.
Creed stumbled back, taking in her glowing appearance, and shook his head with an exhausted chuckle.
"You’re stronger. Faster. More... uh, impressive."
Lilith gave him a teasing glance. "Do I look very pleasing to you, Master?"
Creed coughed. "I mean, yeah, but that’s not the point!"
Before he could finish—
DING!

.....
For a long moment, Creed just stared at the notification.
Then, he laughed.
Laughed like a madman.
"HAHAAHAHAHAHA!" His body still hurt like hell, but he didn’t care. He just threw his head back and roared in laughter.
After every near-death experience, there were rewards.
It was almost comical at this point. No, it was a pattern.
"Damn," Creed wiped the tears from his eyes, still chuckling. "So as long as I keep nearly dying, I’ll keep getting stronger?"
That was dangerously tempting. Then his gaze fell on the 10 Primordial Essence.
His grin widened. That was it.
That was exactly what he needed.
With 10 Primordial Essence, he could finally comprehend Stage 1 Spear Intent tonight!
His heart raced with excitement, and before he could stop himself, he grabbed Lilith and hugged her tightly.
"You’re my lucky charm, Lilith! My goddess of fortune!"
Lilith froze, her usually teasing expression replaced by one of pure surprise.
And then she blushed. Not just a light pink, a full, deep red.
"M-Master..." She mumbled, clearly flustered.
But before the moment could stretch—
A sharp, whistling sound pierced the air.
SWISH!
Lilith’s eyes widened.
"Master!"
Her arms tightened around him, and in one swift motion, she yanked him aside.
A cold gust of wind brushed past Creed’s cheek, and then—
THUNK!
An arrow embedded itself into the spot where his body had been standing just a second ago.
Creed’s mind blanked.
For a moment, he didn’t even process what had happened. And then, it hit him.
SOMEONE JUST TRIED TO KILL HIM!
’WHAT THE HELL?!’
Before he could even get his thoughts in order—
SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!
Three more arrows shot out from behind a pile of rubble.
This time, Creed was ready.
His body, still bruised and battered, moved on instinct, twisting to the side as the arrows barely missed him.
His heart pounded. His breathing grew ragged. He had barely survived a life-threatening tribulation, and now, some bastard was trying to assassinate him?!
His gaze snapped toward the direction of the attack, his golden eyes narrowing dangerously.
Who the hell was that?!
