Crashing into an Old Flame -
Chapter 97: Prince-Duke
Chapter 97: Prince-Duke
Daisy quirked a brow, ’’You sure?" Uh, they sure ran their business well... Was it a business season for the motels right now?
While she was wondering about it, the receptionist tilted her head in annoyance, ’’Do you have hearing.....’’ issues...?
The words were stuck in her throat when she saw the ’handsome man’ standing in front of her.
On her way, Daisy had felt like she was getting too much attention so she had changed her maid clothes at a low-key clothes store where she brought herself some new clothes. Since it was hard to carry so much with her, she left everything in her hotel room.
After all, she was certain that her parents were not even looking for her. They must have mobilized half their forces for Diana because to them, their elder daughter was a disappointment.
Not that she gave a shit or two about it. She would rather be a disappointment than a punching bag. If those fuckers hadn’t manipulated her sweet sister over the years emotionally and mentally, then she would have gladly pulled Diana with her.
But she knew that getting Diana out of that hellhole was never that easy because Diana herself did not want to leave that place. Hence, she had always been thinking about a gentler approach to extricate Diana from their toxic parents.
And now, she did not even know where Diana was... where her daughter was. All of it... was a mess that Daisy blamed herself for.
Daisy didn’t even know what must have happened for Diana to leave that mansion out of her own will.
Meanwhile, as the receptionist look at the man who was lost in his thoughts, she felt butterflies in her stomach. Dressed in a black turtleneck sweater that was paired with trendy faded jeans, the man had his ash blonde hair in a mess and a pair of emerald eyes that were slightly narrowed.
’’S-Sir...?"
Daisy snapped out of her daze. Glancing at the girl who was looking at her with a soft smile, she sighed inwardly. Girls were truly the sweetest creations of gods, ’’Well, sorry for troubling you. It seems like it’s the business’ rush hours. My bad,’’ she lifted a shoulder as she turned to leave, thinking of ways to trick the security system of this motel and sneak inside this place.
’’Sir,’’ the receptionist’s panicked voice came from behind, louder this time.
Daisy turned to look at her. Why did this poor girl look so scared? Did she intimidate her? She softened her tone, speaking in a less deep voice, ’’What’s up?"
The receptionist who was scared that the handsome man was offended by her rude attitude earlier, was relieved, ’’Sir, I think there is a miscalculation on my side. I think there should be a vacant room left...’’ she said shyly.
Daisy’s eyes widened when she heard that, ’’Really?" As the receptionist nodded, Daisy felt gratified. Truly the sweetest creatures alive were girls, ’’Oh well then, Princess, let me trouble you.’’
The receptionist who had earlier rolled her eyes at being addressed as ’Lady’ now truly imagined herself as a Victorian-era princess, swaying her gown while walking alongside this handsome Prince as she checked the available rooms.
After two minutes, she said, ’’Sir, you got really lucky. There is one last room left—’’
’’Which is being taken by me,’’ a voice interrupted.
The receptionist’s lips curled down, ’’Sorry, this room is already booked by this Sir here,’’ Her Prince Charming was still standing there. Which peasant dared to interrupt their moment?
’’I am sure we could do something about it, couldn’t we?" asked the deep voice again.
The receptionist raised her head in annoyance and for the second time in the night, she felt butterflies inside her stomach. If the man from earlier was a handsome and charming Prince, this person was more like the evil, rich and bewitching Duke.
Who the hell did she call a peasant? She was the peasant here, okay?
Meanwhile, ’the Duke’ Ryle Harper smirked when he saw her stunned expression. Women. These creatures fell to their knees when a man did the bare minimum, didn’t they?
Even if he sat with a notepad and scrolled through his memories, he could not think of a woman who had ever resisted him. Well, apart from that woman Diana Chen living her tenant days with his best friend as they honeymooned at his baby hilltop mansion. That woman had looked at him like he was a menace, twice, at the airport and his place. But then, she was not counted because she was completely whipped by Warner anyway.
It was not just the receptionist who was stunned, Daisy was stunned too. Her relaxed expression had wavered the moment she had looked at Ryle who hadn’t looked at her even once when he walked past her.
Behind them, the woman in the position of Ryle’s secretary and personal bodyguard was stunned too. It would barely take them a few minutes to get the room number they were looking for. What did their Boss mean by wanting to stay here in some room? At a place like this...? She had seen him in all kinds of luxurious places before but a motel...? Never! What was he lowering his standards for?
She glanced at her Boss’s driver, hoping for some answer. This person had been by his side for so long so he should know what their Boss’s weird antics this time was about.
But this time the driver did was not even looking at her. He was glancing at the man standing behind their Boss in contemplation.
’’Well... ’’ The receptionist was put in a spot between the Prince and the Duke. What luck did she have today for her to chance upon these godly men? And now, she even had to choose one.
Daisy frowned, ’’I am taking the room.’’
The receptionist nodded her head like a hen, ’’Yes, of course, sir...’’
