Chapter 242: Shenanigans

Only they knew how they had felt when they saw Maxim sitting on the dining table, facing the wall while he popped grapes in his mouth idly.

While they stood there stunned, the man leisurely asked them to take it easy and not bother him before he walked away from the dining table and sat on the kitchen counter instead, still facing the wall.

The happiness in his voice was pretty harsh on their ears.

Diana covered her face in her palms when she heard them narrate the incident.

She flashed apologetic gazes at both the ladies before walking towards Maxim.

When she stood in front of him, his eyes landed on her. And his face was full of smiles.

He had faint dark circles under his eyes and he looked rather tired but Diana could not understand that gleeful expression on that ridiculously handsome face of his.

She had never asked him to keep standing here. What was he thinking?

’’Come with me.’’

’’Sure,’’ Maxim tilted his head to the side, without moving an inch.

Diana raised her brows.

’’I feel weak. Tired. Exhausted...’’

Before he could go on, she simply grabbed his palm and dragged him with her.

His long fingers immediately enclosed around her small ones as Maxim followed her with a wide smile on his face.

Ivy did not pay attention to them, knowing that dog food was not decent for her stomach early in the morning but when they passed by the dining table, there was a ’clank’ sound that caught Ivy’s attention.

Ivy tilted her head and glanced at Daisy who had stabbed her omelette rather harshly with the fork in her hand, her face unusually dark.

Unfortunately for Ivy, she did not know how to translate Daisy’s expressions.

Or else she could have clearly read the words—Someone explain to my sister about a fox in hen house!!!

Once Diana dragged Maxim into her room, she kicked the door close before looking at him.

The smile on Maxim’s face did not waver in the slightest.

Diana opened her mouth to speak but her gaze landed on the clothes that he had been wearing since yesterday.

She held herself back and grabbed a shirt from the closet before walking back to him, ’’It’s yours. So, we don’t have to worry if it will fit.’’

Maxim nodded, without any objections, ’’Pants?"

Diana blinked. These were the shirts that she usually wore after their ’time’ together and did not bother to return them. She never touched his pants though. They were too extra for her legs.

’’You prefer having me half-naked?" Maxim asked with a raised eyebrow.

Diana’s eyes widened, ’’W-What are you saying?"

Before he could say something wilder, she waved a hand and ran inside the closet and came back with a white towel in her hand, ’’Make do with this.’’

After shoving it in his hand, Diana rushed inside the bathroom.

After a few minutes, she walked out and looked at him, ’’I have arranged a set of things you would need, except I don’t have the body wash or shampoo you might prefer.’’

’’I will make do with yours,’’ Maxim said without wasting another second, "The rose ones. To smell like you."

His quick response stunned her a moment and then a faint blush crept up her cheeks. She slowly nodded.

A niggling feeling in her chest told her that she was forgetting something.

Feeling somewhat confused, Diana glanced at the closed door of the bathroom before she walked out of the Master Bedroom.

’’You left him inside?" Daisy looked at her, pausing her movements.

Diana nodded.

’’Dee, this is so cute,’’ Ivy remarked.

’’What’s cute?" Diana looked at her.

’’That he lives literally above us yet you are letting him shower here.’’

"_" Diana’s mind blanked. She remembered what she was forgetting.

The man who was watching her running around collecting clothes for him to cover his ’delicious’ body lived right in this same building.

’’Looking at you makes me miss the days of having a boyfriend,’’ Ivy let out a dreamy sigh.

"I don’t see you going out,’’ It was rare for Daisy to be curious but Diana was curious too.

Ivy always stayed at home, buried in her laptop and taking care of Angel. If not for that, she would step out once in a while for work or in the name of ’dates’ which usually went nowhere.

’’I didn’t say I have one. I used to have a high school sweetheart,’’ Ivy looked at her plate as she laughed and continued, ’’He cheated on me so we are done.’’

Diana froze. She did remember Ivy mentioning that once but she had taken it as a joke. After all, which man would ever cheat on a girl like Ivy? Ivy was simply such a sweetheart even if Diana did not mention all those exterior qualities like her beautiful face or talents.

Having brought up the topic, Daisy hesitated for a moment before she stood up from the table.

Diana took the cue to change the topic, ’’Going to work?"

Daisy nodded and walked towards Angel who was wobbling near the leg of a chair.

Daisy kissed the little girl’s forehead.

"You need to be careful,’’ Diana reminded Daisy, ’’I am afraid Ryle would come up with something new for revenge for what you did.’’

Daisy frowned, ’’He can try.’’

Diana was tight-lipped when she saw that ’I am ready for war’ face, ’’I am not worried for you. I am afraid of the stress that will befall me in case you drive Ryle to the brink of insanity and he ends up killing you.’’

Daisy’s brows tugged together, ’’You don’t sound like a wellwisher.’’

’’I. am. being. practical.’’ Diana said without any guilt. After so many hardships, her and Angel found Daisy. If they were to lose her again, they could only ugly cry at the gates of hell.

Daisy looked at Angel before she kissed her head once again before standing up.

The girl had her hands full of toys so she did not pay attention to their shenanigans.
