Crashing into an Old Flame -
Chapter 186: I only want you
Chapter 186: I only want you
His words were interrupted again when she stepped closer to him and pressed a finger on his lips, ’’Yes, I think like that. I can... I will come to you when I want. Will you let me?"
He did not say anything. He did not respond to her.
Strange emotions rippled in his heart. He felt suffocated. The truth was... he would let her.
He would let her ruin him.
And he refused to tell her that she had that kind of power over him.
Maxim grabbed the back of her neck and pulled her closer, "I won’t."
Diana’s finger slid down his lips when she heard his words. Her gaze dimmed for a moment before the corner of her lips tugged up ever so slightly, "So, you are telling me that if I kiss you right now, you will push me away?"
"Yes," his grip on her neck tightened slightly, making a soft gasp escape her mouth. His fingers glided inside her blonde tresses, itching to fist them and do things to her. He wanted to snuff the fire in her eyes till she was completely at his mercy. Till she would not affect him the way she did now or till he began to affect her just the same.
"Then push me away," she wrapped her arms around his neck and pushed herself to her tiptoes before capturing his lips.
His fingers raked inside her hair and his other hand settled on her waist.
Push her away? Could he do that?
He gripped her waist tighter and as she moaned softly, his tongue thrust inside her mouth. He hoisted her up in the air.
Her legs tightened around his waist as he kissed her harder.
’Click’
Diana did not realize when the door was unlocked. One moment they were still in the hallway and the next moment, she was pinned to the wall as he kissed her harder, almost angrily as if he was punishing her.
And it only did something strange to her body. She felt herself burning hotter and hotter as his fingers slid inside her short green dress.
He stroked her thighs.
"Ah..." her back arched, breasts crashing against his chest.
Maxim kissed the arch of her neck as his fingers reached her panties.
Her eyes fluttered close.
She gripped the back of his neck and her fingers dug into his hair when he bit her neck.
"Please..." she panted softly.
Maxim stilled. Her voice seemed to have stirred him awake. He pressed his forehead against her collarbone, and the realization of what he almost continued just now started sinking inside his head.
Diana’s eyes fluttered open, a hint of confusion appearing in them. And she was greeted with darkness. The lights were turned off inside the place.
As the moonlight cascaded inside the living room through the large French windows, she looked at the vases placed near the opposite wall, still in a momentary daze.
Maxim placed her down to her feet and retracted his hand before smoothening her dress.
"It’s late. You should go back," he said, his voice distant.
"Talk to me," she grabbed his wrist the moment he turned around, "I am not letting you unless you talk to me."
"What do you want me to talk about?" Maxim halted in his tracks but he did not turn to look at her.
"Anything," she whispered, "Anything you want to talk about," or he could just sit in silence and she could watch him but she was not letting him go. He looked like he would drift far away from her if she let go of his hand right now.
Maybe she was exaggerating it in her head. He was right in front of her. How far could he go? How far would she let him go?
Yet, even if he was right in front of her eyes, she could feel the distance between them at the moment.
She did not like it. Not even a bit.
When he remained silent, she lowered her head.
After a moment of silence, he sighed and opened his mouth, "The flowers..."
"...were given by you," she interrupted him the moment he spoke.
Maxim’s eyes widened slightly when he heard that. He had wanted to converse with her so that she would not be upset yet the moment he opened his mouth, he ended up mentioning the flowers as if his mouth was not within his control. Yet, he did not see this reply coming from her. His voice grew softer, "The man who replaced me..."
"...is you," she cut him off again, sounding almost indignant. At least, he was speaking to her now. She thought he was about to give her cold shoulders.
Disbelief was written all over his face as Maxim turned to look at her.
Under the pale glow of moonlight, she could see his expressions as clear as day.
Hmm....
Diana released his hand and raised her hand to touch her nose. She had just intended to tease him a bit earlier so she messed with him.
Did she mess something up? Why did she feel a tad bit guilty as she looked at his face?
Then thinking of something, her guilty conscience disappeared in thin air, "Don’t look at me like that. Drunk Maxim is way better than sober Maxim. He communicates with me, breaks rules, doesn’t hold back, is honest, cute..."
Maxim could not bear to listen anymore. Just what the hell did he do after drinking!
His mind was in chaos.
"It’s late, Ana. Go back and take a rest," he cut her off.
Diana stopped speaking.
As she looked at his indifferent face, she felt her eyes burning.
’Don’t... Don’t... Don’t...’ her inner voice kept screaming at her yet it was hard to hold back at this point.
"Must you push me to my limits?" She snapped.
Maxim was taken aback. He raised his hand to wipe the tear that escaped from the corner of her eyes, "Ana..." his voice softened so much that it was unrecognizable to his own ears.
Before his fingers could come in contact with her cheek, she slapped his hand away, "What do you want me to say, Warner?"
"Do you want me to confess how much I want you?" She took a step away from the wall, putting a distance between them, "I will tell you. I want you."
"I want you in ways that are ethically questionable for friends."
"Replaceable? I am lying to myself. Who can I replace you with?"
Maxim’s heart raced as he looked at her but the pain in her voice made it hard for him to stay put and listen to what she was saying.
He just wanted to hold her and pull her into his arms. He wanted to tell her that he was the one at fault and she did not have to say a single word. He wanted to tell her that he was not pushing her away.
Yet, she kept putting distance between them, not letting him approach her.
Diana smiled bitterly. As she spoke to him, the realization kept sinking in her, "You were right. You are irreplaceable. I can go around the whole world, trying to look for someone else just to prove you wrong yet there is no one like you."
"They don’t look like you."
"They don’t look at me like you do."
"Their smiles... are not like yours."
"They don’t make me feel like you do."
"They are not my best friend, Warner and they don’t affect me in ways I don’t want to affected."
"I don’t want them like I want you."
Every word was like a shot at his heart. What was she doing to him? Was she even aware?
"Ana, stop..."
She shook her head, wiping her tears with the back of her hand, "I want you."
Her lips trembled slightly, her eyes narrowing as she glanced at him. In a moment that startled her beyond anything, she realized that... "I want only you. No one else will do. It has to be you."
She met his gaze as he stood rooted to his spot, his eyes still as dark as she remembered them to be, resembling a precious onyx and his face was still as unreadable as it always had been.
Unable to take the silence lingering in the air anymore, she lowered her head, "Go ahead. Laugh at me. Or reject me again. I am used to it by now..."
As he opened his mouth to speak, she interrupted him, "You know what? You are right. It’s late. I should leave now," As she spoke, she started walking towards the door.
Yet, the moment she made it past him, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her in front of him.
She was startled as she raised her head to meet his gaze.
"Did I say you can go?" His eyes darkened, "You come here at your wish, Ana. That doesn’t necessarily mean I will let you go when you feel like it."
She avoided his gaze.
"You said there is no one like me."
"Yes," she whispered.
"You want me."
"Yes," she met his gaze, a hint of hesitation flickering in her eyes.
"And you only want me."
"Yes," the moment her words dropped, he tugged her hand, pulling her closer to himself.
His breathing was uneven as he spoke, "Then you will have me."
Her eyes widened.
"You know why?"
A hint of confusion appeared on her face as she shook her head.
"Because I want you just as much, Ana. And it kills me."
Diana bit her bottom lips, her fingers gripping the material of her dress as she felt her heart galloping in her chest.
"But not one night..." his voice broke her trance.
Maxim leaned closer and bit her earlobe, trailing kisses down her neck as he sucked on it and bit it.
Diana felt her body turning into a puddle and she let herself fall in his arms, feeling his fingers playing with the zipper of her dress before he tugged it down, "W-What?" His words puzzled her despite the haze that covered her by their proximity.
"Not one might, Ana. I will have you till I am sick of you," he kissed her neck. A year? 10 years? Eternity? Eventually, he would be sick of her right?
Her back arched slightly as he bit her neck. Diana could not help but whisper, "What if I am sick of you before that?"
His gaze darkened.
He pulled back to look at her as her dress gradually slid down her body, "We will see."
"Ahh..." Just as she opened her mouth to speak, she felt herself floating in the air as he carried her towards a room in the corner.
Diana gasped, "You...." She wanted to scold him for not warning her, but the moment she opened her mouth, his searing gaze landed on her, gradually trailing down her body.
The dress was long gone and all she had on her body was a set of black underwear.
As thick-skinned as she usually was, Diana flushed under his gaze. She squirmed in his arms.
He tightened his grip on her, "Don’t..." his voice was hoarse.
It was only then did she felt something hard poking her.
Her face turned red gradually.
