Crashing into an Old Flame -
Chapter 114: Enmity
Chapter 114: Enmity
He pushed himself to his feet and started getting dressed while the woman lay there on the bed, naked, ’’But work ethics...’’
’’I don’t care about work ethics. So what if I betrayed him and the organization? I love you and I did it for you. I let him bother us enough. If he tries to come after us once again, it will be the day he will breathe his last,’’ a menacing glint flashed across the man’s face as he spoke.
Si Yena nodded coyly at her bodyguard who was now her lover, ’’Can you not go?"
’’Baby, you wanted to eat chocolates, didn’t you? You have already been sacrificing a lot for me these days. The least I can do for you is to let you eat the food of your choice,’’ he kissed her neck deeply before he left.
Si Yena blushed. The chocolates he meant... were a different kind of chocolates.
’’Close the door,’’ the man ordered.
She put on a robe and closed the door obediently.
Five minutes passed before there was a knock on the door. Did he come back so early?
Si Yena frowned.
Hesitating, she walked towards the door but she did not open it.
She checked from the peephole.
Since this was initially a very small orphanage, it did not take her long to recognize the person standing at the door. The receptionist.
She sighed in relief before opening the door but the relief on her face was replaced by disbelief when she saw the person standing next to the receptionist.
She tried to close the door but a foot was stuck in between the wall and the door, halting her movements abruptly.
The receptionist did not notice the small exchange between both people.
Daisy smiled at her, ’’Thanks, we have personal matters to discuss. You should go and find the owner,’’ she said.
The receptionist instantly remembered the huge amount of cash she had stacked on her desk. She did her greetings quickly before she rushed away.
Si Yena was too stunned to react. ’’I don’t know this person....’’ By the time the words made it out of her mouth, the receptionist was gone and Daisy had stepped inside the room.
She locked the door behind them, ’’Yena, calm down, it’s me,’’ she talked in her own voice this time.
But Si Yena did not stop panicking.
Daisy pulled the wig from her hair, ’’It’s me, Daisy. I know you are in trouble right now but don’t panic...’’ she said, ’’I will protect you. And it’s tricky but I will try my best to help you escape with your lover.’’
Si Yena gulped, gradually calming down when she heard the mention of her lover, ’’Just leave,’’ she said.
’’I am not here to put you in a spot. I am here to help you. The person you both have messed with is not an easy target but I will try my best to let you escape,’’ Daisy tried to convince her, ’’Before I help you, you need to help me. Where is the child? I left her with you and everything was planned accordingly. What went wrong? I flipped Beijing upside down but I could not find her. Diana is gone from the Chen Mansion...’’
’’Oh, she left?" Si Yena replied uninterestedly as she crossed her arms in front of her chest and sat on the bed.
The wig stuck near Daisy’s shoulder fell, letting her dark hair cascade past her waist. She frowned, ’’What do you mean by she left?" her tone was shaky.
’’There is not much to mean.’’
’’Yena, what’s going on? Why are you acting like a stranger?" Daisy grabbed her shoulders.
The woman slapped her hands away, ’’Keep your hands off me and get out of my sight. If you are that capable, go find your child yourself.’’
’’Where are they?" Daisy closed her eyes.
’’Just get lost—’’ Si Yena’s exhaled a shuddering breath when a cold metal brushed against her forehead.
’’Where are they?" Daisy repeated, pressing the pistol on her best friend’s forehead with trembling fingers.
’’I left her at this orphanage...’’ Si Yena’s face turned pale, her eyes widened in disbelief as she whispered. A shiver crept down her spine, ’’I asked them to drop your child at the Chen Mansion after you leave. They informed me that they last saw your child in Diana’s arms. Since you are saying that Diana has left the Chen Mansion already, there is nothing for you to worry about. Stop exaggerating it already. They should both be fine. Stop threatening me.’’
Daisy placed her gun down, ’’Diana is a child herself,’’ she dropped to her knees in front of her best friend, ’’What have you done, Yena? Don’t you know how pampered Diana is? She can’t even fend for herself for 1 day outside the Chen Mansion. How can I stop worrying knowing that they both can be in danger? What if something happens to them? What if...’’ she stopped speaking, feeling a tightness in her chest.
’’Why?" Daisy glanced at her best friend, who seemed like a stranger at this point, ’’Why would you do something so absurd? I trusted you.’’
’’I needed you...’’ She warily eyed the gun in Daisy’s hand. Once Daisy put it in the waistband of her pants, Si Yena started speaking, ’’I needed you since I was young because my parents asked me to befriend the heiress of the Chen Family. I did what was expected of me but I never really liked staying in your shadow or people asking me to introduce them to you. You were in the limelight and I was out there, somewhere in the background. Even my ex-boyfriend kept asking me about you. Do you know how annoying it can get?"
’’So... for all these stupid things, you sacrificed my child and cornered my sister?"
’’The stupid things you are speaking of is my life. I have nothing to do with your sister and I did not sacrifice your child. I needed money to elope with my bodyguard and I could not take my family’s money so I traded your child with the Chens. Growing up with you, I know your family well enough to know which nerve I needed to press in order to squeeze a reaction. I threatened your mother that if she does not give me money, I will expose this to the media. Imagine the scandal. The prestigious eldest daughter of the Chen Family had a child without marriage. As expected, your mother gave me the money without any qualms.’’
Daisy’s hands turned cold.
’’But you have nothing to worry about. I thought they would do worse to the child. But look at what we got. That naïve little doll decided to take responsibility for her niece. Now, don’t be a bitch here alright?"
’’I treated you well,’’ Daisy tilted her head to look at the woman.
’’By well, you mean putting a cold face 24X7 and snatching the attention that I deserve just with that family background and vixen face of yours? My parents compare me with you, they want me to be like you, my friends wanted to be your friends, and my boyfriends were always ever interested in you more than me. Your friendship is a curse, Daisy Chen. You never treated me well.’’
Daisy lowered her head as she glanced at the floor. After a few seconds, she nodded.
She pushed herself to her feet after grabbing the wig from the floor.
Si Yena flinched back into the blankets in fear when she thought about the gun that Daisy possessed.
But Daisy did not spare her another glance as she walked towards the door.
Her hand rested on the doorknob.
She turned around to look at Si Yena, ’’Don’t let our paths cross again. You won’t want to see what kind of person I become when I don’t treat people well,’’ After a small pause, she continued, ’’If my friendship was a curse, our enmity might lead to a disaster in your life. So stay the fuck away from me, Si Yena.’’
The door closed and Si Yena was left in the empty room. Those cold words seemed to be reverberating through the walls, chilling one’s heart.
...
’’Boss, your coffee,’’ Ryle’s secretary handed him the mug with trembling hands as the temperature in the backseat dropped.
’’A bodyguard can be this worrisome as well. Look at us looking for him from place to place while he is fucking his lover at these weird places,’’ Ryle’s lips curled up in a disdainful smirk as he lifted the coffee mug and splashed the content onto the woman’s face.
The driver shivered. For a woman, her face was most important. And just because of their Boss’s mood swings, this woman’s face was going to be ruined forever now.
