Chapter 41: Weapon fashioned against Harry

The screaming sounded like the earth was caving in and Lin wei ran back into her room. But Garry and Lu Chen were already out too, the three stared at themselves for a minute, before making a bee line for her room.

Harry laid on the bed, his shirt ripped, his hands raised to shield is head as the claw of the puny cat made a furious pattern of scratches on him.

"What the fu_" Lu Chen made to grab the weapon fashioned against Harry_cat, but it slinked away.

Harry coughed violently on the bed and Lin wei wondered worriedly if he had swallowed a cat hair.

Apparently it could give you tuberculosis or something like that.

The cat meowed and stared at them indignantly as if they were wrong for staring at her majestic fighting skills without an applause. The six of them stayed in the room.

Lu Chen, Lin wei, Harry, Garry, the cat from hell, and the thick uncomfortable silence. After the bone shattering and gut wrenching scream earlier, this silence made for an uncomfortable interrogation.

Finally, Lu Chen seem to have gotten his jaws off the floor, because he was the one who hurried to the groaning mess on the bed.

"Are you okay? Hospital quick!" He barked.

But Harry shook his head rapidly, murmuring some words Lin wei was too far to hear. Garry watched the unfolding drama like a diplomat planning the next war move.

"What?"

"I said the cat needs medical attention more than I do!" Came Harry’s surprisingly strong voice. Though the underlying hoarseness belied the fear.

"What exactly is that and how fu.. did it get here?" Lu Chen thundering, unleashing the full intensity of those brown twinkling eyes.

Like they looked like hardened mud, cracked and cold.

Lin wei wondered if there are more similarities between Lu Chen and Ezekiel than she cared to admit. She found herself quaking in her boot, her tongue swollen and thick in the back of her throat.

What explanation does she have for this?

"Looks to me," Garry’s calm voice broke the tension_groans, heavy breathing and palpating hearts_and all heads swiveled to watch him. "Like this cat is a stray injured cat that my brother tried to pet?" His raised brow demanded explanation.

Harry nodded but was soon followed by a grimace.

Garry’s frown was the exact replica of his father’s as he tried to puzzle out how the cat came inside.

After a minute, he shrugged and stared back at them.

"Forget this madness, let’s go to the hospital." Lu Chen said coldly.

"Sure," Lin wei’s said thickly.

"What’s going on here?" Ezekiel’s cold voice cut through the air with precision.

"Shit," Lu Chen muttered.

Lin wei could feel her eyes roll into the back of her head s she tried to come up with a plausible deniability.

"There’s a stray cat_" she began tentatively, careful not to stare at the thundering expression on Ezekiel’s Stony face.

"That scratched Harry because he was trying to pet it!" Garry did the damage before Lin wei could say another word.

"Oh God," she groaned exactly the same time as Harry did.

Ezekiel’s eyes swept the room, taking in the disheveled bed, the cat, and most importantly, Harry’s scratched-up figure. He didn’t move or say anything for a moment, just stared at the chaotic scene with a face carved from stone.

Harry squirmed under his father’s intense gaze, clearly trying to look less pathetic than he currently did, sprawled on the bed with his shirt in tatters. Lin Wei took a cautious step forward, clearing her throat.

"I-I can explain," she started, but Ezekiel cut her off with a raised hand.

"Is the cat hurt?" he asked bluntly, not even glancing at his son, who looked both relieved and indignant.

"No," Garry supplied smoothly. "But Harry might need some bandages."

Ezekiel finally turned his gaze to Harry, his mouth forming a thin line. "You tried to pet a stray cat?"

Harry nodded, biting his lower lip. "It looked... lonely."

Lu Chen snorted softly, earning a sharp glare from Ezekiel. The cat, now curled up on the windowsill, licked its paw as if it hadn’t just declared war on the youngest twin.

"Take him to the clinic," Ezekiel ordered, and Lu Chen moved to help Harry up, the latter wincing as his shirt rubbed against the scratches.

Lin Wei bit back a laugh when the cat gave a contemptuous flick of its tail, as if saying, ’Serves you right.’

"What’s the deal with this cat?" Ezekiel demanded. His gaze cut to Lin Wei, expecting an answer.

She swallowed hard. "It must have sneaked in through the window. I didn’t see it earlier."

Ezekiel raised an eyebrow, not entirely convinced, but he didn’t press further. He simply nodded at Lu Chen to get Harry out of the room. The twins exchanged a glance—Garry with a hint of amusement, Harry with pure mortification—before Harry allowed Lu Chen to guide him out.

The cat, seemingly satisfied with its victory, curled up on the windowsill, basking in a ray of sunlight. Lin Wei, still trying to slow her pounding heart, cautiously moved toward it. It opened one eye, assessing her, before deciding she wasn’t worth the effort.

"You’re telling me that... thing just found its way in here?" Ezekiel’s tone was calm, but his eyes betrayed his irritation.

Lin Wei fumbled for words. "Yes... I mean, maybe. It’s a stray. Sometimes they get curious and wander in."

Garry, ever the diplomat, nodded sagely. "Cats are notorious for finding gaps. Maybe one of the windows downstairs was open?"

Ezekiel didn’t look entirely convinced, but he didn’t pursue the matter. Instead, he pinched the bridge of his nose, clearly trying to hold onto his last shred of patience.

"Make sure it’s taken care of," he finally said, before leaving the room, his footsteps a heavy echo down the hallway.

The tension in the room dissolved as soon as Ezekiel was out of earshot. Lin Wei exhaled shakily and leaned against the wall.

"I can’t believe he tried to pet that thing," Garry muttered, crossing his arms. "Harry really thought he could charm a feral cat. Classic."

Lin Wei stifled a giggle. "You have to admit, it takes a certain kind of courage... or stupidity."

Garry snorted, the corner of his mouth twitching upward. "He’ll live. But that cat—" he eyed it cautiously, "—looks like it’s plotting its next attack."

The cat meowed, almost offended by the accusati

on, and then stretched luxuriously, its claws scraping against the windowsill. Lin Wei couldn’t help but feel a tiny bit impressed by its audacity.
