"Miss Ning, Miss Lai, it’s noon. Are you awake?" It was the voice of the butler, Fang Derong.

"Oh, I’m awake." Ning Guiwan turned her head towards the door, trying to sound as if she had just woken up.

Quan Yu looked down at the two small hands clutching his arm tightly. Against the black fabric, the girl’s slender fingers looked like white jade, her nails a faint, delicate pink.

On impulse, he bent his head and took a deep sniff near the girl’s temple.

Though the gesture was clearly flirtatious, when he did it, it carried an indescribably seductive quality.

When Ning Guiwan opened the door, her cheeks were noticeably flushed, and her hair was slightly mussed. Yet, she didn’t look messy at all; instead, she appeared even more alluring.

She stepped out of the lounge, casually closing the door behind her. Only when she heard the soft click of the door lock did Ning Guiwan’s racing heart finally begin to settle.

She didn’t care how others talked about her. But she didn’t want even Old Mrs. Quan to be disappointed in her.

However, her heart had barely settled back in her chest when the door to the hospital room was pushed open from the outside, and Lai Yang walked in.

Lai Yang wore a joyful expression, her arms laden with several bags from a luxury brand. There was a shopping mall not far from the hospital; evidently, she had been on a shopping spree.

"Where’s Second Cousin?" As soon as she entered, her eyes darted around the room.
