Chapter 48: 48. New year

At some point, my lashes had fallen over my eyes and my thoughts had paused. All my mind could dwell on was the sensuous scent of eucalyptus filling my nostrils, and the slow rhythmic pattern of his breathing. The feel of his hand stroking my own and his fingers tickling my nape.

My entire senses are heightened and I can hear my own heart beating and my breath quickening as I wait, and expect. What am I expecting?

Well, whatever he is planning to give me. As long as it’s Duke, I think I will be okay with anything he gives me. Because I have come to trust him, I know it sounds dumb, for a man I just met, but this man is practically my husband now.

I trusted him enough to marry him on the day I met him, so I think I can trust him with more of me. As long as it’s Duke.

"I want you so badly," he breathes the words over my lips feverishly, "however, I will wait." huh? What’s he saying? I feel his lips on my forehead and my lashes finally flutter open again, and his eyes are on mine, "and I will gradually seduce you instead." He places another kiss on my right cheek, "I’ll seduce you with everything I have," He places another kiss on my left cheek, "body, money, and even kids and parents." He smiles at me.

"As long as I’ll be getting you in the end, I’m willing to patiently..." He pauses and tsks, "or impatiently wait for you." He really looks impatient.

"And when the time comes when you are willing and ready to give yourself to me without any thoughts holding you back, then, I will have you." He kisses my lips, not the kind of kiss I would have wanted, just a soft touch of his lips on mine, but even that is enough to make my heart flutter.

"And I will take all of you, until you have nothing left to give and then, I will take even more from the nothing you have."

This man, I don’t think I will ever fully understand him. Or the words he speaks. "What if I make you wait too long?" I ask.

"I believe in my seductive power, it won’t be too long." He’s such a confident madman.

"But what if your seductive power is not as potent as you thought and I never come to you?" I ask.

"You will." Why does he sound so certain? Am I that easy? Does he see me that way? Is that why he’s so certain I will fall into his hands eventually? I don’t like this feeling.

"Hey," both his hands suddenly grabs onto my face, making my eyes that had wandered come back to rest on hiss own, "You’re overthinking." He says. "I don’t think you’re an easy woman."

"W_what?" How did he know? Did I say it out loud? I don’t think I did. So how could he know what I was thinking?

"You’re doing it again. You’re overthinking." He says and suddenly his lips take mine, in the manner I want.

His tongue pries my lips open and I let him in.

I can feel my senses going numb as his tongue dances around inside my mouth in a pattern I’m coming to know so well. My hand holds onto the sleeve of his shirt as he deepens the kiss further, going deeper and deeper into my mouth like he’s trying to find where my tongue ends inside my mouth.

I can’t breathe.

"Hah," I drag in air as he sets my lips free and presses his head upon my own. "Oh dearest, you drive me to insanity." His voice, raspy, his breath shaky, and his eyes... they are just so bewitching.

"I don’t think you’re an easy woman. I just believe you will come to open your heart entirely to me, if I keep trying my hardest to reach it." He confesses.

"Duke."

"I’m not saying these things because I think you’re an easy woman, I’m saying them because I really, desperately want to do all I can to seduce you into wanting me even if it’s half as much as I want you."

"How long can you wait?" I ask.

"To be honest, I couldn’t wait long to have you by my side and that’s why I married you in the first place. And I’m dying to have your body twice as much and I plan to wait, I sincerely do, but don’t make me wait too long."

"If I do? What will you do?"

"Then, I will grab you, pin you down and kiss you till you beg me to take every bit of your body."

"What if instead of begging you, I scream for help to be saved from a crazy man?"

He smiles and caresses my face, arranging strands of my hair to fall on the side of my face. "Trust me my love, when that time comes, the only one you will be screaming for help from will be me. And the only kind of help you will need at that moment is—" He brings my head closer to his and takes his lips to my ears, "is help with undressing you, help with caressing you, and help because your body would be squirming underneath mine, begging me to take you quickly, and harder, however I won’t listen, I will take my sweet time."

Hah, his whisper against my ear is hot and I can feel that part between my legs pulsating. My toes have curled because of the sweet sensations passing through every corner of my body.

"Trust me Champagne Grand, I will have you, but only when the time is right, with you, the time has to be right."

He places another kiss on my forehead and his hands are off my body, he’s rising from the bed, leaving me in such a state of sexual arousal.

I hate him.

I hate the things he does to me. Because I try to act like I hate them when in truth, I really like how he talks to me, and how he acts with me. I like him... I like him a lot.

Just like that Christmas was over, and in a few days it was new year. Of course in between, I tried to go to work, but the rules Emily had set were strict. And it seemed only Fredrick and I had a problem with that no-working rule. Every other person seemed completely at peace with taking a break from work.

Fredrick and I ended up having that fried bread date the day before new year, and we talked about nothing but pleasant things. The more I spoke with him the more of Duke I could see in him. He is a perfect gentleman, just like his son, and also enjoys teasing me just like Duke.

He even joked about getting me the entire gold group as a wedding gift if it was what I wanted... Something tells me that was not all completely a joke, because Emily told me something similar the first time I met her.

For someone who claimed he would seduce me with everything he had, so far Duke has done nothing! No skinship, no seductive whispers, no provocative actions either. He’s just been acting normal ever since then.

Too normal, if you ask me.

I mean if he plans to seduce me, the list he can do is put in a little effort. Seriously, I’m a little disappointed, I was looking forward to seeing what he was planning. Not because I’m dying to fall into his arms or anything, no... definitely not.

I just, you know, I was just genuinely curious about what he was planning, that’s all. That’s why I’m a little disappointed.

In the days between Christmas and new year, I’ve gotten closer to Alan, and thanks to that, I think I understand why Emily insists that the family be together all through the days counting from Christmas to new year.

Magic can happen within that just within such short amount of time.

I even spent some time with Rey, and he told me all about his soccer life. Most of which was him bragging about how good he was on the field and how many goals he had scored thoughtout his career. He seemed to have some sort of beef with a fellow soccer player who played for a different team even though according him he was paid twice the price the other person was paid.

Well,most of the things he talked about, I didn’t understand, but I listened and it was actually nice to hear him talk about it. Also he told me some secrets about Duke that I will use against him in a later future time.

For someone who has lived a life without a loving family, being with them all brought so much light into my life that I could not help but get on my knees and pray for all of them in my quiet time.

Just like that, the days rolled by in peace and extreme joy. And new year came.
