After the kidnapping incident, the man Michael Blaine who my aunt said was her link to the outside world was arrested. Turns out he was the lover Duke told me she had so he already had a case against him for managing her illegal funds and plus being an accomplice in a kidnapping case, he’s going to spend a long time behind bars.

A week after Alicia’s sentence, the judge presiding over aunt Evelyn’s case sentences her to twenty years in prison. For a moment in that court, my heart ached for her. She’s already fifty, so twenty years means she’ll be in there till she’s seventy. Of course she can be lucky and be let out earlier, but that will still be like in ten years time.

If only she hadn’t been so wicked to me. If only she hadn’t added to her problems by kidnapping my son.

I refuse to let myself be ridden with guilt. She’s just paying for her sins.

Rowan on the other hand not only lost his license for life, but due to the gravity of his many crimes that surfaced, he got life imprisonment. After what he did to me alone, life imprisonment is nothing.

Jonathan Wood also got his license revoked for life and five years behind bars for aiding Rowan’s crimes.

After stepping out of the court on the day of Rowan’s sentence, I looked up at the sky, took in the fresh air of the afternoon and a smile crawled onto my face as I realized that it was all over now.

Finally, all the ones who wronged me have been punished; however, the smile on my face began to dwindle as I wondered to myself...

What next?

But then as if to snap me out of my thinking a loud honking sound echoes through the street, followed by a car suddenly appearing in front of me.

The car stops in front of me and all the windows slide down... "Mummy!!!" I hear their tiny voices scream as they tilt their head so they can see me from the open windows of the backseat.

"Hey babe..." Duke says with his head sticking out of the window and his eyes staring at me.

"Babe?" I say as heat quickly rises to my cheeks. I think that’s the first time he’s called me that and it’s making my entire insides tingle for some reason.

"Yes babe."

"Mummy is daddy’s babe." Shelly says and he and Renny giggles with their hands over their mouth and their cheeks flushed red.

"And since when did I become daddy’s babe?" I ask with my head tilted to the side. My gaze shifting back and forth between Duke and the kids.

"You’ve always been my babe, isn’t that right kids?" He asks and there’s really nothing much to his words, but I’m blushing like a little teenage girl getting a love confession from her crush.

I really don’t know how he’s still able to do this to me. To make my entire body feel like it’s melting just by saying a few normal words and staring at me like that.

"What are you guys even doing here?" I finally ask the question.

"We’re going on a date!!" Renny and Shelly announce with their hands up in the air happily.

"What?" I ask with a laugh. "A date? All of a sudden?" I ask and all three of them nod their heads in sync. "Why are we suddenly going on a date?"

"Because we want to hang out with mummy and daddy." Shelly says.

"Because we yove hanging out with mummy and daddy." Renny adds and their words bring tears to my eyes. I look up to the sky so I can force back the tears.

Then I turn my attention to Duke, "Did you make them say that?" I ask. "You cajoled them into coming with you didn’t you?"

"Trust me darling, I was sitting down on the couch waiting for your call when they came to me together saying they wanted to hang out with mummy today. They said, and I quote, ’Daddy let’s go and surpwise mummy yike we did that other time. Let’s hang out with mummy today.’ End of quote." He says and I really can’t hold back the tears even if I’m trying to.

"Mummy why are you cwying?!" Renny gasps and I quickly turn away from them and wipe my tears.

"I’m just happy to see you, baby." I say.

"Oh, mummy is just yike Mary. You both cwy because you are happy to see us. But don’t cwy mummy, big girls don’t cwy." Shelly says and I nod.

"You heard your son, big girls don’t cry. So wipe those tears and hop in, we’re going for a long sweet, fun filled day!" Duke announces and they all scream together with their hands in the air again.

I quickly walk around the car to reach the other side of the car so I can get into the front seat when I suddenly remember, "Ah! I came with my own car. I should inform the driver that—"

"Oh don’t worry babe, I already told him to return the car home." Duke explains and I nod as I open the door and set myself inside the car.

"Can you stop calling me babe, it’s quite distracting." I say as I buckle up.

"Huh!" I gasp as he suddenly leans in a places a kiss on my cheek, "Duke!" I’m trying to sound as if I’m scolding him but I’m giggling because the twins are giggling too.

"Shall we?" He simply says and I smack his arm.

"Your daddy is a naughty man." I turn around and say to the twins and they shake their head in a very big no.

"Daddy is not naughty, he just loves you very much. Like gwandpa loves gwandma." Shelly says and I’m left speechless.

"Hah! Who told you that?" I say with a laugh.

"Daddy did!" He points and I just don’t even know what to say anymore. It’s clear that no matter what I say in this situation, Duke will come out the winner, so all I can just do is surrender.

"Well, I love your daddy even more than he loves me." I declare and I love how they are both blushing.

"I don’t think so, I’m sure I love you more." Duke counters.

"Are you certain? My love is way bigger than yours." I say as he starts the car and sets it in motion.

"I’ve loved you longer than you’ve loved me, and I still love you so I automatically love you more." He can be really competitive sometimes.

"I—"

"But Shelly and I yove you both more than you yove each other." Renny suddenly says and all Duke and I can do is stare at ourselves and then burst into laughter.

"Yes, I know. You love us more." I agree and that ends our competition.

"Now where should we head to first?" Duke asks.

"The zoo!!" They both say in sync.

"Well, that’s not exactly my definition of a perfect date but I guess we can start there. What do you say, dearest? You wanna see some monkeys?" He asks with a soft chuckle and I shrug.

"If my babies wanna see some monkeys then we’re going to see some monkeys! Let’s go!!"

"Let’s go!!" Renny and Shelly both say.

Duke nods and repeats the words, "Let’s go."

In this life, if I was told I would ever come to meet someone like Duke Grand, I would have laughed it off because someone like him is too good for someone like me.

However, somehow, we met and we got married.

After everything that happened to me in my previous marriage, if anyone told me that I would ever get to love again, I’d have argued with every bone in me.

But after my marriage, I found love.

And that love brought so many things into my life. Not only did it bring me peace, it also brought me two cute bouncing babies who declare they love me without a seconds hesitation.

This same love brought me into a new family, made me realize what family really stands for.

I’ve never known a greater joy and I’m going to keep fighting to keep this joy I’ve found.

I’ll work to never lose it.

To never lose them.

And I’ll keep praying and blessing God for giving me this new beginning.

Some will think this is a happy ending to my sorrowful story, but rather than an ending, it’s a happy beginning.

I have an entire blank book in front of me that needs to be filled, I can’t wait to see what story each Chapter will have to tell.
