Conquering His Cold Heart -
Chapter 477 - 477: Where is She?
"As I said, I don't have the Queen here!" Bartholomew raised his voice as a way to mask the fear that he was feeling.
However, that proved to be counterproductive because, within a split second, four of the vampires dropped dead right before his eyes.
Bartholomew now felt terrified to his core.
Caspian casually dropped all four hearts that he had ripped apart on the bloody floor and gave a deathly glare to the shaken Lord.
"So, you have chosen the eternal hell, huh?"
Caspian's cold and ghastly voice reverberated throughout the room. Each echo sounded more horrifying than the last one.
To Bartholomew, it sounded like the tolling of the warning bell from the gates of hell. He had never imagined that the King would come for him like a madman, without any support and strategy, just guided by raw emotions.
Caspian looked around the room through the corners of his eyes to analyze the enemy's positions and come up with his next move.
Bartholomew could predict that more than four guards would drop dead if the King attacked once again.
"Wait!" he shouted. "I am telling you the truth. The Queen is not here!" he desperately tried to make the King believe that he was telling the truth.
However, it didn't sound that way to Caspian. It just sounded as if Bartholomew was blatantly lying once again.
So, without wasting another breath, Caspian spread out both of his arms towards his back.
Two of the guards had positioned themselves perfectly on the King's blindside so that they could attack him from behind when he was busy attacking those at the front. What they didn't imagine was for Caspian to go after them at first.
"Arghh!" They both screamed in shock when some unseen force literally dragged them until their chests were touching the King's palms.
Before they could regain control over their body and push themselves away from the King's reach, they felt their ribcage getting shattered.
Caspian had punched holes in their chest. And just like that, he clawed out those hearts as if they were nothing but overgrown weeds in the flower garden.
He pushed those bodies aside and went after the others who were protecting the old Lord. He moved around the room at lightning speed as he slashed a few throats, punctured a few chests, and broke a few arms and legs.
If one were to overlook the agonizing screams that filled the room, along with the wounded or dead vampires scattered all over the floor, one could easily mistake Caspian's movement for some elegant dance.
Obviously, to those other than Caspian, it seemed as if death itself was dancing around the room, injuring and killing everyone in its path without any mercy, without any discrimination.
After defeating every guard standing in the room, Caspian stood face-to-face with Bartholomew.
"For the last time, WHERE IS MY WIFE?" he screamed right at the terrified man's face.
Panicked, instead of opening his mouth, Bartholomew pulled out the hidden sword from inside his walking cane and as he did so, he managed to slash Caspian across the chest.
A long cut mark appeared on Caspian's clothes which soon got damp with cold, thick blood.
Caspian slowly looked down at his chest, lightly touched his wound with the tip of his blood-stained fingers, and then looked to see a fresh layer of blood on his fingers. He slowly raised his glance from his hand to Bartholomew's pale face.
"Uh… I didn't mean to do that. I didn't mean to do that." Bartholomew began repeating the same sentence like a parrot while backing away.
Caspian had had enough.
He rushed forward in a flash and using a single hand, he lifted Bartholomew by the neck.
As that old vampire dangled in the air, suffocating, Caspian roared at him, "If you don't tell me where she is right now, then this is going to be the end of you."
No matter what Caspian said, Bartholomew kept on saying the same thing again and again. "I d-don't have your wife! I s-swear on my daughter."
"Arghhhhhhhh!" Caspian screamed in anger and in the next second, he slammed Bartholomew on the floor with such great force that the tiles on the floor cracked and created a huge crater under Bartholomew's head.
Needless to say, Caspian had successfully cracked that Lord's skull. And now a pool of blood was forming on the crater.
"I'm going to find her myself!" Caspian snarled at the barely conscious vampire and also threatened him further, "And if I find her in any of your property, I will make sure to wipe you and your entire existence from the face of Sorvando."
Caspian looked around and spotted the thin sword that Bartholomew had used to slash him. He spread his palm in the direction of that sword, attracting that sword to his hand like a magnet, and bend it. He then slammed the sword into the floor in such a way that Bartholomew's neck was perfectly trapped under it.
He also found two other swords and did the same with that Bartholomew's hands, making it impossible for the latter to run away while he looked around for his wife.
'Anna, please be alive,' Caspian thought to himself as he rushed around the mansion in panic while looking for any trace of Anastasia.
He spent a lot of time going room by room, checking even the wardrobes and bathrooms. However, Anastasia was nowhere to be seen.
Fed up, Caspian grabbed a hold of a servant who was cowering behind a huge pillar and then asked him in a really threatening manner, "Where is the Queen? Lead me to her!"
The servant was literally shaking like a leaf when the King grabbed him by his collar and growled at him. He was so terrified that he couldn't even utter a single word, he just mumbled a bunch of nonsensical words, pissing the King further.
"I asked where she is!" Caspian glowered at that servant and shook him quite violently.
The servant sharply inhaled in fear and closed his eyes. And he mumbled somewhat coherent words, "His Lordship has not brought the Queen here."
Caspian interpreted it as – the Queen was kidnapped by Bartholomew but didn't bring her to this mansion. So, he asked again, "Do you know where he is keeping her?"
The servant violently shook his head and said in a barely audible voice, "I don't know, Your Majesty. I am a mere servant. I don't know anything." He quickly joined his palms together and begged, "Please spare my life, Your Majesty. I haven't done anything to aid Lord Bartholomew."
"Argh!" Caspian grunted and pushed that servant aside.
Once again, he searched each and every corner of that mansion, only to be disappointed again.
In his rage, Caspian swooshed to the room where he had left Bartholomew and kicked him so hard on his face that a cracking sound echoed throughout the room, followed by the painful noises of Bartholomew.
"Where are you hiding my wife, you bastard? Tell me before I break all the bones in your body!" his screams were full of rage and his eyes full of fury.
Bartholomew simply spat blood and didn't say a word. He kept on laying down on the floor like a man who was close to dying.
Seeing how he was about to lose his consciousness, Caspian grabbed Bartholomew by his jaw and roared so loudly at the latter's face that his throat became sore, "WHERE THE HELL IS SHE? WHERE IS MY WIFE?"
