Conquering His Cold Heart
Chapter 473 - 473: A Gift

"A gift?"

Both Anastasia and Vincent asked in unison. They both had confused expressions on their faces because they weren't sure how a gift would solve such a big problem here.

"Yes! A gift." Tilla exclaimed and then explained how a gift would be a good idea in cases like this. "Everyone likes receiving gifts from others, especially if that person is your significant other."

She looked at Anastasia and continued, "It shows how thoughtful you are about your husband's feelings. If you can gift something very… umm… something that holds deep meaning for him, or something that touches his heart, then it might create the right mood for him and he might initiate a conversation with you."

Anastasia thought for a moment and was convinced that the gift method might actually work to bridge the increasing gap between her and her husband.

However, now a different problem arose. "But what am I supposed to gift him? There's nothing that he doesn't already have."

"It's true. He is the King after all. Hmm…" Tilla hummed and began brainstorming on her own.

When not a single idea came to her mind, she looked at Vincent and sought his help. "Vincent, you might have some idea about something that the King had always wanted but never got the chance to have them, right?"

Both Anastasia and Tilla began staring at Vincent, waiting for him to come up with an idea.

But he simply shrugged his shoulders and mumbled in a helpless tone, "Uh… I don't know. As you said, he is the King. He has everything. What more could there be that he doesn't already have?"

"Yeah." Anastasia sighed and said in a downcast manner, "I don't think a gift is going to work for Caspian. We should think of something else." She looked at Vincent again and asked him, "Can you think of anything that might help Caspian and me to hold a civil conversation with each other?"

"Let me think of something." That being said, Vincent steepled his hands in front of his chin and began to juggle several ideas in his head.

Tilla and Anastasia didn't distract him from his thoughts. They patiently waited for him to think of something.

After quite a while, Vincent finally broke from his trance state and then suggested his well-thought-out idea, "How about we seek help from Lady Edith?"

"Lady Edith?" Anastasia's dull eyes twinkled a little when she heard the name. She cleared her throat and shifted on the edge of her seat, showing her interest in the topic. "I'm listening."

Vincent then explained his idea in detail, "If Lady Edith can invite both you and Caspian to her mansion for a breakfast or lunch then it might create an environment for the two of you to open up to each other. Also, since you will be under the watch of Lady Edith, you do not have to fear Caspian misbehaving with you, or him getting angry and shouting at you, or things like that."

"That's a brilliant idea!" Anastasia clapped. Finally, a small yet genuine smile cracked on her lips. "If we can chat in her presence or at least in her mansion then I won't have to fear Caspian."

Tilla gave a thumbs up to Vincent and then gently rested her hand on Anastasia's shoulder. "That's it then. All you have to do is send a message to Lady Edith. And hopefully, she will help you out."

"She will help you. I can guarantee that." Vincent smiled and said, "When I went there to talk with Lord Hamilton about the situation in the castle, Lady Edith looked visibly concerned for you. I'm sure she will respond to you as soon as she receives your request for help."

He even offered more help to Anastasia, "If you can write a letter right now, then I can deliver the message on your behalf."

Anastasia nodded and showed her enthusiasm, "Yes. Let's do that. Will you provide me with a paper and a quill?"

"Of course." Vincent quickly got up on his feet. He was about to rush out, but then he stopped on his track and asked Anastasia, "How about you use my study room?" He pointed at the table in front of Anastasia and said, "The table is too low and uncomfortable to write on."

Anastasia gave a nod and said while getting up, "Sounds good."

All three of them walked out of the living room. Vincent led the way, closely followed by Anastasia and Tilla. And behind them were Anastasia's two guards. They were not leaving her side even for a second.

After getting everything that she needed, Anastasia busied herself with the letter. Tilla sat by Anastasia's side while Vincent went outside to check something.

He wanted to see if Caspian had followed Anastasia to his mansion. If Caspian was waiting outside or somewhere nearby, he wanted to take Caspian back to the castle because he did not want his home to turn into a battlefield for Caspian and him.

After taking a stroll outside and making sure that everything was in order, Vincent went back to his mansion.

By then, Anastasia had already finished writing the letter. She handed it to Vincent and said, "Thank you for helping me so much, Lord Vincent. I hope I will be able to repay your kindness soon."

Vincent kept the letter inside his coat pocket and humbly replied, "You don't have to repay me, Your Majesty. I am just trying to help my friend by bringing harmony to his household. And I am also trying to help myself because I won't have to fear my friend anymore if his anger calms down sooner."

Anastasia smiled and thanked him once more before saying, "I think I should return to the castle now. Caspian wasn't exactly happy about me coming here. So, I would like to go back before he decides to come here and get me."

"Oh!" Tilla anxiously held Anastasia's hand and asked, "We haven't even offered you any refreshments yet. Can you not stay for a little longer?"

"I could but…" Anastasia heaved a sigh and said while patting the back of Tilla's palm, "I don't want to cause you both any trouble by overstaying. Caspian is unpredictable these days." She smiled uncomfortably and mumbled, "So, I think I should go home before he gets angry."

Although there were still 4-5 hours left until the deadline given by Caspian, Anastasia wanted to go back to the castle as soon as possible. She had found a tentative solution to her problem. That was more than enough for her.

Tilla, on the other hand, wanted to have some chitchat with Anastasia and offer her some comfort. However, she didn't want to force Anastasia to stay.

In the end, she agreed to send her friend back. "Okay. I will walk you outside then."

After reaching outside, Anastasia got into the carriage and then waved at her friend saying, "Don't worry too much about me. Just focus on getting better soon so you can be by my side soon."

Tilla gave a sad smile and nodded. She then waved back and said, "I will see you soon, Anna. Take care."

Anastasia shifted her gaze to Vincent, who was standing behind Tilla, and expressed her gratitude, "Thank you for taking care of my friend. I will leave her in your good hands for now."

Vincent gave a polite smile and bowed to the Queen.

Anastasia finally pulled the curtains close and rested her back on the comfortable cushions. She took a deep breath and then ordered the coachman, "Let's leave for the castle."
