Chapter 161: 157 Parting Sorrow Monthly Ticket 720 Additional Release
The next morning, Su Yan rubbed her sore arms and looked at the maid sprawling across the bed, immediately regretting her impulsive decision to sleep with her for the night. The whole night was exhausting, as she had to move the feet pressing on her almost every hour. The maid loved to hug things while sleeping. It got slightly better after midnight when she stuffed a pillow into her arms, and she slept soundly, but Su Yan ended up with insomnia. Sigh, all because she mentioned the maid’s hair was coarse, which was the truth, yet it tormented her all night.
At the breakfast table, Li Xianglu noticed Su Yan’s dark circles, barely covered by makeup, and frowned, "You didn’t sleep well last night, constantly tossing and turning?"
Su Yan...
After breakfast, Su Yan drank two cups of bitter coffee and headed out with a group of people.
They first visited Central, the early political, cultural, and shopping hub of Hong Kong.
Su Yan, accompanied by four bodyguards, entered the stores and went on a shopping spree. She bought dozens of men’s outfits, six different colored cashmere sweaters at once, and added four more when she saw the tall young man next to Li Xianglu.
She practically didn’t need to try on women’s clothes, only rejecting ones that were too old-fashioned; the rest she bought in Li Xianglu’s size. Then, something crossed her mind and she asked, "You have female friends too, right?"
Li Xianglu nodded blankly, so Miss Su grandly declared, "Bring more!"
She ordered ten pairs of leather shoes for Li Xianglu alone, boots of all lengths, crocodile and cow leather - all must be bought!
It was hot without winter clothes, no worries, they had last year’s winter stock brought out, sending over the best designs.
Xiangxiang mentioned Ah Ren’s knee trouble, acting up during rainy weather due to old rheumatism. The best Trauma Wine wilhelp, ten crates of it. Li Xianglu quickly intervened, "Grandma Su, grandpa gets ill once a year at most, using just a tenth of a bottle; ten crates, he won’t finish it in his lifetime." Su Yan compromised, "Okay then, five crates." Li Xianglu... well, her persuasion was in vain.
The whole morning was spent shopping. At a western restaurant in Central, Su Yan wasn’t feeling too energetic, having only a few bites of vegetable salad while looking at Li Xianglu eating her second steak, she said, "This afternoon, I’ll have the driver and Xiao Zhu take you around. I’m really sleepy."
Li Xianglu obediently nodded, "Yeah, I’ll wash up, have some hot milk, and then sleep."
Su Yan finished her remaining bite of oat bread, wiped her mouth, and said, "Don’t buy any appliances. I’ve ordered two sets. Once you leave, they will be shipped directly to the ship."
Li Xianglu... Shopping is supposed to be an enjoyable process, why is she missing out?
Over the next three days, the driver took her and Qin Xi around Hong Kong to all the great spots and eateries. In the afternoons, Li Xianglu stayed at the villa on the Mid-Levels with Su Yan.
As their departure neared, Su Yan and Li Xianglu had argued twice already. In the mornings, Su Yan complained about Li Xianglu eating too much, worryingly saying that she might grow as big as a calf and wouldn’t have clothes to wear.
Li Xianglu was upset that Su Yan ate too little, saying she’d be blown away by a gust of wind if she got any thinner.
Watching the two bickering, Qin Xi stayed silent. Why were they so awkward with each other? Clearly, they didn’t want to part ways, yet only felt comfortable confronting each other.
On day eight, Li Xianglu went downstairs early only to be startled by six packed bags laid around the sofa. It was time to leave.
While drinking coffee, without lifting her head, Su Yan instructed, "You can take these things with you; they’re all washed clothes and some food. The rest I have entrusted to a UK trading company to ship to you. You will have it delivered to your door, including two sets of appliances and a few sets of expensive jewelry which you should thoroughly check. There are also two pounds of fine tea leaves; put them in the fridge as soon as you receive them, so they stay fresh."
Li Xianglu stepped forward to pull someone back, but Su Yan didn’t turn around. When pulled again, she finally turned her body around.
"Wow...." Li Xianglu suddenly burst into tears, but the person still did not turn around, sobbing and wailing like a child, without any grace, ugly, with her mouth wide open, her hand clutching at Su Yan’s arm.
Su Yan did not turn around, yet her shoulders twitched from time to time.
Qin Xi was already waiting at the door. The boat at eight in the morning had only another hour left. If they didn’t leave now, they would be late. Several servants had already taken the things downstairs.
Li Xianglu, seeing that she was being ignored, sobbed and said, "You promised me, once the situation stabilizes you will come live in the capital with me and grandpa. You must keep your promise otherwise, otherwise I’ll call you Grandma Su every day."
Su Yan did not say anything.
Li Xianglu stubbornly clung to her arm: "You have to promise me, you have to come back!"
Su Yan turned her body slightly and nodded very slightly.
It was only then that Li Xianglu let go of her hand and walked towards the door, casting a glance at Su Yan who, although vain, was truly not young anymore.
The car slowly drove away from the Mid-Levels, Su Yan stood at the highest spot holding a glass of red wine, watching the car that had left in the distance, her eyes swollen. This girl was really stubborn, going back was not that simple.
This time it was Xu Xi’s assistant who accompanied her, for convenience at the customs.
Li Xianglu’s eyes were as red as a rabbit’s, looking out the small cabin window at the darkening sky outside, she pouted.
Qin Xi sighed and said, "Okay, the buffet has started, let’s go have something to eat, you haven’t eaten all day."
Li Xianglu touched her flat belly and sought confirmation, "Do you think she will come back?"
Qin Xi shook his head, seeing Li Xianglu’s disappointed expression, he patted her head and said, "I don’t know, the current situation is not good, she has a special identity, and grandpa can’t go over there either, it’s hard to say."
Li Xianglu turned around like a child, sat on Qin Xi’s lap, then wrapped her tender arms around his neck, her voice tearful, "But I miss her."
Qin Xi caressed this girl’s head and said, "Yeah, I know you can’t bear to be separated from each other." No sooner had he finished speaking, a pain struck his waist, "Ow!" Qin Xi purposely cried out pitifully, seeing her turn her head he said, "I’m starving to death, and you don’t even feel sorry for me."
Li Xianglu kissed Qin Xi’s cheek and then climbed down, waving her hand, "Come on, let’s go eat! Let’s try to eat the cost of the monthly ticket back!"
Qin Xi laughed and said, "Are you sure you want to go like this?"
Li Xianglu, not understanding, went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror — with a scream, "Ah!", who was this red-eyed ghost?
When they finally left, it had been half an hour later; the ice water had a mediocre effect, her eyes were still red, just a little better than before.
ps: I am also a bit sentimental; tonight I only ate two servings of hand-pulled dough.
