[Quest Progress:

-5/10 Mutated Goblins killed.

-1/2 Mutated Goblin Shamans killed.]

The interrogation didn’t seem to be very fruitful in the end. The Shaman refused to speak until the very end. At last, Adrian had to kill him because there was nothing else to do.

But that wasn’t enough. Thinking the others might know something, Adrian tortured every last one of them. He didn’t spare anyone, not even the children, and he took the girls by surprise.

It even made them think if it was the same guy who once stood against Vincent because he wanted to kill some goblin children. Yet he was doing the same thing now.

As cruel as his methods were, Adrian managed to achieve the result. They found the Shaman’s hut, and there were many useless things inside, but they also found something important.

[Broken Key: When put together with the other half, it opens a secret door.]

That’s what the description read, but Adrian was confident that the key would probably open the door to the boss’s room or someplace similar. As for the other key, they would need to find the second Shaman, who probably had it.

With everything wrapped up, the group was about to leave when another group of hunters entered the now-wrecked settlement.

"What happened here...?" the sorceress mumbled upon seeing the dead goblins.

"Wasn’t this supposed to be the guild’s secret levelling ground? How come someone found it before us?" the bald tanker asked the sword-wielding party leader.

The leader didn’t say anything and merely scanned the area. Hundreds of goblins corpses were scattered everywhere. The entire settlement was in ruins, as if a firestorm had blown through there.

"You guys are lucky," Adrian remarked, appearing out of the Shaman’s hut. "I almost attacked you people, thinking it was the goblins."

[The entity, Conquerer Of Twelve Labours, laughs and says, a few of them look like one.]

[A few entities laugh heartily.]

Now that Adrian had paid attention to them, the tank definitely looked like a goblin, minus the nose and long ears. Heck, even the teeth looked similar.

’He isn’t a chimaera too... is he?’

"You’re the super rookie!" the mage exclaimed, rushing towards them. "Is Miss Sophia with you?"

Adrian recognised her as the girl who wanted Sophia’s autograph during the trials. Since she had seen Adrian with Sophia earlier, she wanted to meet her again.

Sophia, although taken aback by the situation, greeted the girl warmly. Meanwhile, Amelia kept playing with her dagger, not paying attention to the fan meeting.

"Hello. I’m Jung Teok, affiliated with the Misty Swords." The leader approached Adrian, who shook his hand.

Although they had lost their levelling ground to Adrian, Jung was sure to make the best of the situation. He believed that if he could get Adrian on their side or convince him to meet with the guild’s recruiters, it would boost Jung’s standing in the guild right away.

Little did he know Adrian could read his thoughts like an open book. Having spent years navigating between the ever-hungry nobility of Nexaria, Adrian had developed a habit of noticing people’s greed.

And Jung’s eyes were shining with greed. But Adrian decided to entertain him. After all, he might turn out to be useful someday.

"Adrian Fenrir," Adrian replied, introducing himself. "And that’s Sophia Fernandez and Amelia Silverleaf."

Sophia greeted them with a smile while Amelia spared them a look, acknowledging their presence before returning to play with the dagger.

Jung nodded, acknowledging them, but he was only interested in Adrian, unlike his party. After he knew the girls would follow Adrian if he joined a guild.

"Did your team do this?" He asked, referring to the goblin settlement.

Adrian nodded. "We stumbled here and thought we might as well clear the place since the dungeon was filled with newbies. The goblins were easy to deal with, but the Shaman might give the newbies a hard time."

Although Jung didn’t show it, he was irked by Adrian calling the others ’newbies’ when it was his first dungeon run himself. But he chose to ignore it as he needed to get on Adrian’s good side.

At the same time, Jung realised why everyone was going crazy over Adrian. During the debriefing, the party had been told to be careful, take the goblins one at a time, and not enter the settlement at any cost, as a high-ranking monster lived there.

However, not only did Adrian and his party enter the settlement, but they absolutely wrecked it. This made Jung wonder if even he could do such a thing, and the answer was no—not in his current life, at least.

"I’ll cut to the chase," Jung said. "Will you consider joining us?"

Jung’s party members were a bit taken aback by his straightforwardness. But Adrian appreciated it. The group looked silently at him, waiting for a response to the offer.

However, instead of responding, Adrian took a look at their team. There was a warrior, a tank, a brawler, a mage, and a support. It seemed like a great team on paper.

But Adrian saw a problem: none of their skills complimented each other. In Adrian’s eyes, this was an enormous folly, especially if they were going to fight someone like the Shaman.

’However, I can’t deny they had potential. I wonder if Misty Swords have more people like them.’

As much as Adrian didn’t want to join the Misty Swords, he couldn’t help but wonder if he should. Since he had planned to swallow a guild and build it up from scratch, it wouldn’t hurt to target the Misty Swords.

’It’s too soon to make my decision, but they have my attention now.’

"So? What do you think?"

"I appreciate the offer, but I’ll have to decline," Adrian replied. "If I agree here, it wouldn’t be fair to the other guild who want me to join them. I hope you understand where I’m coming from."

"Of course," Jung replied, taking Adrian’s rejection in stride. "It was worth the shot. See you around!"
