Chapter 189: Uninvited Guest (2)

Much to everyone’s surprise, Emma stepped out of her car, her heels clicking against the pavement as she approached Adrian and Seraphina, standing near the villa’s entrance upon noticing the car.

"What the hell does she want now?" Adrian mumbled as he watched her with his arms crossed over his chest.

"It’s been a while, Adrian-"

"What are you doing here, Emma?" Adrian cut her off, not caring about her greetings.

Emma waved the letters in her hands with a hint of annoyance. This was different from how she had imagined their meeting would start. After all, she had come all the way there to warm him up, and this was the greeting he was giving her?

Emma knew Adrian had changed but didn’t expect him to be that cold. Unfortunately for him, the reality checks would keep hitting her from then on.

"I might have left the villa, but it’s still officially my address," she replied, trying to maintain the sweet, innocent image that Adrian had fallen for years ago. "So I came to collect my mail. I hope you won’t mind me dropping in unannounced."

"And you got that, so why don’t you leave now while I’m being civil?" Adrian rolled his eyes at her explanation, knowing all too well the true reason for her sudden appearance.

It was clear that Emma was trying to worm her way back into his life after cheating on him and turning his family against him. Considering how heartless she had been before, Adrian wouldn’t be surprised if she was there to rub even more salt on a wound that had healed long ago.

"Well, I was about to, but then I saw the gates were open. So, I thought I would come and greet you for old times’ sake," Emma continued, her gaze lingering on Adrian’s face. "And talk about our-"

"There’s nothing for us to talk about," Adrian said curtly, his patience wearing thin. "You should leave."

His words took Emma by surprise, but before Adrian could turn away, Emma reached out, grabbing his hand and placing it on her chest in a feeble attempt to seduce him.

After all, Adrian might not have been with her for a while, but she still knew the triggers around his heart. With that, her eyes locked onto his, pleading for a second chance at things.

"Adrian, please," she whispered, her voice soft and pleading. "I miss you."

But Adrian jerked his hand away, his gaze hardening as he stared back at her. He had already made up his mind – he wanted nothing to do with her anymore, and her actions had destroyed every bit of his ’maturity’ in him.

"What the hell do you think you’re doing?" he yelled at her, surprising Emma as she didn’t think Adrian would fight back like that.

"I-I thought you would-"

Before Emma could protest, Seraphina walked up to them. Emma saw her and was about to tell the woman to stay out of their private matters, but Seraphina wrapped her arms around Adrian from behind, nuzzling her head against his shoulder as she eyed Emma with disdain.

"Who’s this bitch?" Seraphina asked, her voice laced with hostility as she glared at Emma.

Adrian looked slightly uncomfortable but remained composed as he responded, "This is Emma, my ex that I told you girls about."

"Ah, now I remember," Seraphina replied, eyeing Emma. "I’m sorry to say this, but what did you see in her? The five of us are way better partners than she ever could be... but still, her of all people? I’d rather have you sleep with a troll, to be honest."

Adrian looked slightly awkward at Seraphina’s blunt words, but he remained silent, allowing Seraphina to speak her mind.

Emma’s eyes widened in shock at Seraphina’s boldness. She could not believe the audacity of this woman who dared to encroach upon her territory and badmouth her at the same time.

"Five partners? Oh, please, Adrian wouldn’t stoop to having a harem," Emma scoffed at Seraphina’s words. "He wouldn’t waste a second of his time on some superficial, good-for-nothing women like yourself."

"Is that so? Then will he let you do this?" Seraphina asked before planting a kiss on Adrian’s cheek. "I can let you sit and watch us do more if you keep your hands to yourself-"

"You- How dare you-"

But before Emma could continue her tirade, Seraphina silenced her with her icy glare and wicked smile.

"I’d watch my tongue if I were you," she said. "Or I’ll make sure you regret it."

Emma felt a surge of anger rising within her, and before she could stop herself, she lashed out at Seraphina, hurling insults in her direction. But Seraphina just laughed, unfazed by Emma’s childish words.

"You’re just jealous because you know you can’t compete with me or the rest of us," Seraphina taunted, her smile widening into a cold smirk.

"You do know who you’re messing with!" Emma yelled and clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms as she struggled to contain her anger.

She then turned to look at Adrian, hoping for some kind of support, but he simply met her gaze with the coldness of a stranger.

"Stop looking at my man, will you? Or I’ll have to call an ambulance for you," Seraphina threatened, her voice cold and unwavering.

"You heard her," Adrian shrugged, not caring about her crocodile tears. "Get lost, Emma, before Seraphina does something she’ll regret."

"...if that’s what you want."

Emma’s heart sank at his words, and she realised she had lost her puppet for good. Feeling defeated, she sighed and went back to her car. She could hear Seraphina laughing, making it even worse.

She knew she would never be able to win Adrian back while he had so many women around him, no matter how hard she tried.

As she drove away, Emma wished she had been honest with him from the beginning, wondering how things could have turned out differently if only she stuck to him instead of Joseph’s favour.
