Chapter 107: Saviour (2)

The Commander Wolf let out a short but menacing growl to acknowledge Adrian’s presence. At that moment, the wolf was focused on the new opponent instead of Ahuli.

Despite Ahuli’s objection, the tribals used that moment to rush in and drag him to treat his injuries. Ahuli wasn’t willing to let the commander wolf slip out of his hands, but he knew there wasn’t much he could have done in that instance.

Now that he was out of the heat of battle, Ahuli realised the severity of his wounds. His calf had been ripped open, and his blood was gushing out like a broken faucet. It was the same with the wound on his chest.

While the adrenaline was initially working in his favour, the rush only made him lose blood at an accelerated pace. If Milka hadn’t intervened when he did, Ahuli would have most likely passed out shortly due to blood loss, even if he somehow dodged the beast’s attack.

Still, losing the Commander Wolf wasn’t something Ahuli was willing to think about.

"Hurry up and get some healers!" Ahuli yelled at the ones around him.

The tribesmen were shocked to see their Chieftain act so out of character. Still, none of them wanted to infuriate Ahuli, so they rushed to get the healers.

Meanwhile, Ahuli’s eyes were fixated inside the enclosure where Milka stood before the wolf.

’He isn’t going to last long against the wolf,’ Ahuli thought while pouring a good chunk of tincture on his wound. ’But I hope he does.’

Ahuli’s thought process was linear with his goal. All he wanted from Milka was to hold off the wolf long enough for him to heal and continue the fight. But for that to happen, the healers needed to treat him quickly.

Besides, in everyone’s eyes, Milka was still a brat, so no one would bat an eye if he ended up dying. Sure, Suhi would be a mess, but he’ll recover in time, and if he doesn’t, Ahuli could always employ a new advisor.

The rest of the tribe had similar thoughts, so no one rushed to save Milka. Besides, if the Chieftain wasn’t concerned with someone’s safety, why would the others feel any different?

Suhi and Skaha soon arrived at the place. But to his horror, Suhi saw the tribesmen idling around the fence instead of saving his son.

"What are you doing?" he yelled at them. "Hurry up and save my son-"

However, instead of obeying his instructions, the tribal pushed Suhi’s hand off himself before turning towards the old man.

"Why should I?" he replied.

"Wha- What do you mean, why should I? I’m ordering you-"

"Why would I risk my neck for someone worthless like him?" the man sneered, and his companions agreed with him. "And nobody forced your kid to play the hero. He should’ve known better than to act without thinking about the consequences."

"You—" Suhi gritted his teeth, but he knew arguing with them would not result in a solution, so he turned towards Ahuli, hoping he would listen to him.

"Chieftain!" Suhi begged, falling onto his knees. "Please save my son! He’s the only one I live for. Without him-"

However, Ahuli was not in the mood to listen to his begging either. After all, he had his own wounds to deal with, and Suhi’s nagging only made him angrier.

"Suhi... shut your mouth!" Ahuli yelled, pushing the old man. "Your son chose to be a warrior and grow a pair of balls. Why can’t you be more like him and stop whining like a bitch!?"

Suhi was shocked to witness Ahuli act so harshly towards him. For all his life, Ahuli had respected him in some way, but today, it seemed like some demon had taken over his body.

[The entity, Sin of Pride, laughs in the corner.]

Suhi’s prediction was on point. A demon had undoubtedly taken over Ahuli, but in a different sense. The fight between the vassals of Greed and Sloth had sparked a fire within their legion.

Entities who had been bored to death had now found a new source of entertainment. They copied the higher beings they despised and started to meddle with the mortals within different realms, and the Sin of Pride chose Ahuli as a suitable candidate to turn into his vassal.

[The entity, Sin of Pride, sighs and says he would have liked it better to have user Adrian as his vassal.]

[The entity, Sin of Sloth, growls and warns Sin of Pride to stay away from her man.]

[Members of the legion laugh collectively.]

Meanwhile, Adrian was busy figuring out how to deal with the beast quickly. He more or less knew what was going on inside Ahuli’s head and wanted to tame the wolf before Ahuli recovered.

’I can’t just use [Illusionary Eyes] out of the blue,’ Adrian thought. ’Ahuli spent so much time trying to subdue the beast, and it would look suspicious if I did it within seconds.’

Adrian knew he had to make it look like he had defeated the beast. But how would he? Ahuli was stronger than him, yet he was reduced to such a state. Adrian knew he wouldn’t last long if he tried to fight with the creature.

Adrian thought about having a fake fight with the beast as with Bakira when he had control over its mind. But he knew Skaha was too smart to fall for such a trick for that. He’d see through it immediately, and Adrian didn’t want to cause any problems.

[The Entity, The Progenitor Of The Hunt, offers a proposal to the User.]

’Thanks for the offer, but I’d like to do this my way.’

[The Entity, The Progenitor Of The Hunt, nods and watches on.]

Adrian had his reasons for declining the entity’s help. First, he no longer trusted them, and second, he didn’t want to be helped with every little thing he did.

However, thanks to the prompt, Adrian was reminded of a title he had which was perfect for this scenario.

[Title effect: Nemean Blessing has been activated.]
