Chapter 106: You Are No Longer A Kensington!

Gloria’s POV

I couldn’t fathom what these people were trying to pull. I had made it very clear to those useless women from the NGO that I was the only one fit to care for Eliam. He belonged with me! Yet, here they were, visibly shaken by Evander’s imposing presence.

But what truly boiled my blood was that bitch... Claire. How dare she put on this act in front of me? Did she forget all the torment I put her through? The nights I left her crying and broken? This very place was where I had nearly crushed her spirit, killed her, and yet now she sat there like she owned the place, radiating with confidence, speaking with an air of authority, and holding her head high as if none of it had ever happened.

Was this the so-called power of love? The thought made me clench my fists so tightly that my nails dug into my palms. Whatever it was that gave her this newfound strength, it didn’t matter. I wasn’t about to let her win.

I smirked inwardly as I announced their supposed divorce to the NGO ladies. Let Claire squirm under the weight of her own lies. I had seen the divorce papers myself—the ones Claire had sent to Evander. I had even made sure he signed them and instructed my people to get them submitted to the court.

There was no way they were still connected, no way they could play happy family now. This charade she was putting on wouldn’t last long.

But even as I stood there, confident in my knowledge, a sliver of unease crept into my chest. Why wasn’t Claire reacting the way I expected? Why wasn’t Evander losing his composure as usual? Instead, he stood beside her, his presence unyielding, his glare cutting through me like a blade but still he was all calm.

"Do you really have a way to prove yourself, my son’s wife?" I sneered, though my heart burned with anger.

The words had barely left my mouth when the sound of approaching footsteps interrupted me. Zaniel entered the mansion, flanked by a team of lawyers; as their presence commanded the room’s attention. My chest tightened as I watched them stride in, the guards apparently too stunned—or too terrified—to stop them.

Zaniel, that traitorous assistant, didn’t even bother to acknowledge me. Instead, he turned to Evander, bowing slightly in respect. "Forgive me, boss," he said firmly, his voice steady yet apologetic.

Then, to add insult to injury, he turned to Claire. "Greetings, Madam. I was wrong to arrive late. I am deeply sorry you had to endure so much."

Madam? He called her Madam! As though she were Evander’s wife! My jaw tightened as I tried to suppress the rage bubbling inside me. How dare he address her so formally? Did Evander tell Zaniel himself that she was still his wife?

My mind raced as I watched the scene unfold. Claire stood there, composed and unshaken, a faint smirk playing on her lips. She looked so sure of herself, and it infuriated me to my core. How could she be this confident when I held the proof that she and Evander were no longer married?

But now, doubt began to gnaw at the edges of my mind. If Zaniel and his lawyers were here and Evander wasn’t refuting Claire’s claims, could it be possible that...

No! I refused to believe it. I wouldn’t let this woman make a fool out of me as they did in the past and get married!

Before I could grasp what was happening, Zaniel calmly placed a stack of papers on the table.

"The red file," he began, pointing to the folder with an air of finality, "is proof that Madam Claire is still my master’s legal wife."

My heart sank as gasps filled the room. But he wasn’t finished. Gesturing to another set of papers, Zaniel continued coldly, "And these documents here? They are undeniable evidence that Miss Gloria has no legitimate ties to the Kensington family. Therefore, starting today, Mr. Evander has decided to revoke all support and privileges you have been receiving from him and the family."

"What is that supposed to mean?" I shrieked, my eyes wide with disbelief. My hands trembled as I snatched the file from the table, flipping through its contents. The words swam before my eyes, mocking me with their brutal finality. Proof. How could this be possible?

"This is nonsense!" I spat, throwing the papers down. "I am a Kensington! I have always been!"

Zaniel’s expression didn’t change. Instead, his eyes gleamed with quiet satisfaction, a man who knew he had dealt a crushing blow. "The documents don’t lie, Miss Gloria. The proof is clear. As of now, you have no claim to the Kensington name, property, or status."

I felt the walls closing in on me. Claire stood silently, her face composed, though I could see the faintest trace of triumph in her eyes. Evander remained a looming figure of calm authority, his silence more cutting than any words he could have spoken.

I had always thought I held the power in this family. But now, for the first time, I felt the rug being pulled out from under me. How could everything I had built, everything I had schemed for, fall apart so easily?

"I don’t believe he had divorced me!?" I stated. "This must be you who had planned this!"

"Why not!" Evander said with a smirk on his face. "I told you that you will regret if you meddle in my life too much and... If you can try to split me apart from my wife, then why shouldn’t I?" He took a little pause and continued. "Well... You were the one who sent those papers to Dad! He just did what you wanted, and since I am in charge here, I am taking every single thing you own!"
