Chapter 99: Get his daughter back
Chapter 99: Get his daughter back
"Wasn’t expecting me" Dylan walked towards Alice and stood before her.
Alice scoffed at his words and was about to walk past him when he blocked her way." How dare you ignore my words, Alice."
Alice shot a glare at him and took a step back. Being close to him still disgusted her. He was a jerk who liked to mock her and make her life a living hell but not anymore.
The day she walked out of his life, she swore to herself not to associate with him in this life. But that day, when she saw him, Avera, her entire life flashed before her eyes, bringing back all the horrible memories to live.
Fist her palm in anger, Alice faced him and warned," Look, Dylan, I don’t want to see your face. If you already have a fiancé, please be loyal to her and don’t keep coming here."
She tried to keep her calm as she didn’t want to create any scene in her workplace. She had barely managed to come out of that dark phase of her life, and now him coming back to her was bringing back all the bad memories.
Dylan was amazed by her braveness and took a step close to her and said," I like your courage, Alice. This is something new I have come to see in you" his hand reached to touch her face, but she jerked his hand away.
" Don’t," gritting her teeth, Alice warned him.
"But you like it before," he leaned closer to her and whispered, making her look at him in horror.
Watching the scared look on her face, Dylan smirked and took a step back.
"I am sure you don’t want me to remind you about it, Alice" Dylan was sure he had pulled the correct string.
She may act brave and fierce in front of him, but this memory will completely shatter her act.
Alice stood there like a statue when the memories rushed into her mind. She felt her blood run cold as he mentions those words.
Scoffing, Dylan turned and walked away from there, leaving behind the freeze Alice dealt with her emotion.
God knows for how long she stood there until her unshed tears started streaming down from her eyes, and she held her heart, feeling the pain again.

Gwen’s desk
Her eyes looked at Karl’s cabin. Luke was still discussing the issue with Karl, and they both looked deeply involved.
Averting her eyes, she began to work when her thoughts drifted to the kiss they shared in the car.
Unknowingly her hand reached to trace her lips feeling the warmth of his lips still lingering on hers. It was magical. Her first kiss was from the man she loved.
"Miss Gwen"
"....."
"Miss Gwen"
"Huh," Gwen was shaken by her shoulder, and her beautiful dream broke. She looked up to see Luke beside her chair with a worried expression.
"Is everything alright?" he asked with concern.
After his meeting ended, he left Karl’s cabin and, on his way, saw Gwen, who was engrossed in some thoughts. She kept smiling as if she was in a trance or something, making him approach her.
First, he called her just to bid, but when she didn’t answer, he had to shake her by her shoulder.
Gwen’s eyes widened in shock, and she stood up, greeting Luke immediately. She was embarrassed with how she had behaved like a fool during working hours, and now even Luke had witnessed her dumbness which made her want to bury herself in the ground.
"Yes, sir, do you need any help," she said without listening to his question and got a chuckle in return.
Luke chuckled, watching her red cheeks, which clearly showed her embarrassment. He found her action cute.
"No, I don’t need any help, Miss Gwen. I just came to say you bye" Gwen knitted her brow, looking confused at him, and watched his smile broaden, which confused her even more.
Luke didn’t say anything and walked away from there, heading toward the elevator. Gwen watched him step inside, and the door closed.
"Why was he smiling" she muttered and turned to look towards Karl’s cabin only to find him standing by the door watching in the direction Luke went. His eyes were burning in a fury, which surprised her, and before she could call him, he turned back and entered his cabin.
"Huh! What happened to him now" mumbling to herself, she sat back in her seat and resumed work.

Ashley’s apartment
Quickly finishing the lunch, Ashley excused herself to rest as she was still sore. Tristan didn’t bug her and let her take a rest because he knew he had worn her out, and he feared if she ended up falling sick.
Sitting on the couch, he glanced at Ashley’s sleeping figure before opening his laptop and reading the emails.
Karl had informed me about Luke having issues with the production of the product. Though Karl had handled it, he still wanted Tristan to go through it.
His eyes were focused on the screen when his phone buzzed, and he averted his gaze to see who was the one calling.
It was Dante who was disturbing his peaceful time. But he couldn’t ignore him as the older man had no one by his side even after being sick.
Quickly getting up from the couch, he walked out of the room, stepped into the living space, and picked up the call.
"Why aren’t you resting, grandpa," Tristan asked, returning a formal greeting only to get scolded the next moment.
"You brat. How much do you want me to rest? I have been laying on the bed the entire time" Dante wasn’t used to having stuck in the same place without moving around.
Tristan rubbed his temple listening to the older man raise his voice. No one would make him act wisely and focus on caring for himself.
"If you weren’t ignorant about your health, the doctors wouldn’t have given you bedrest," Tristan voiced in anger shutting the man’s voice and continuing," You are so stubborn that you keep ignoring their words and do as you please."
Tristan loved the older man as much as he loved Herd. Even though his mother didn’t let them meet that often, the minimal time they met made Tristan understand Dante.
He wasn’t an evil human, but his work was bad. Though his intentions were good, that didn’t stop him from making enemies.
Silence on the other side made Tristan question if he had finally managed to quiet the man, but silence the next second he heard him calmed him a little.
"I don’t think your mother will ever forgive me, Tristan, and I would die without mending my relation with her" the was sadness in his voice broke Tristan’s heart.
His mother was a very stubborn lady, and so did Dante. The only difference was she didn’t want to keep any relationship with him while he wanted to get his daughter back before he left the world.
Tristan was about to console him but ended the call without listening back to him. How will he make his mother forgive the man and try to understand his point of view?
It was hard; he only prayed that his mother would give him a chance and not hate her entire life.

Melanin International
By the time Gwen finished her work, it was already lunchtime. She was excited to have some alone time with Karl finally and walked toward his cabin without wasting any time.
Since the other employees had already headed toward the office canteen, she quietly entered his cabin and saw him work.
"Karl," she called his name and watched him raise his head. His eyes softened when he landed on her, and a smile appeared on his face.
He kept his work aside, stood up, walked towards her, and pulled her by her neck before kissing her.
Gwen was startled by his sudden action but gave in immediately. They were so indulged in the kiss that they forgot about the lunch, only to be reminded when Gwen’s stomach growled.
Smiling against her lips, Karl pulled back and traced her lips with his thumb saying," Let’s eat something first."
Gwen looked down, hiding her blush, nodding her head before Karl held her hand, and they walked out of the cabin.
It was risky to have lunch in the office canteen, so Karl took her to a place a little away from the company. He just wanted to spend his time with Gwen without getting caught.
They soon found the place a little away from the office and were about to enter when Gwen’s eyes fell on the employees who work with them.
"Stop," she squealed and pulled back Karl dragging him away from there.
Karl was surprised by her action and looked at her in confusion." What happened, Gwen?" he asked when they stopped walking, and Gwen heaved out a sigh.
"We can’t eat there," she said, trying to calm her breath, and looked at Karl, who knitted his brow." Why?" he asked, looking back at the place where he was dragged away.
Sighing, she pointed at the man who had just walked out of the restaurant and three more people.
" You see them. They are all our employees."
