Chapter 434: Wait and watch
Blush crept on Ashley’s cheeks tainting them pink while she seated staring at him innocently. Her lips parted a little in disbelief but she couldn’t speak a word.
She was left stunned for a moment but when she watched Tristan smile wholeheartedly, she could stop admiring him.
Ashley felt like a teenage girl being attracted to her crush when suddenly saw Tristan speak.
"Do you mind doing that again" his words snapped her out of her trance and it was then she realized what he meant.
Shoving the spoon back into the cup, Ashley slapped Tristan’s arm. "How could you do that!" she yelped reaching the same hand to cup her cheeks and hiding her embarrassment.
No matter how much time passed, she still couldn’t handle his shamelessness.
"Stupid" muttering under her breath and shot a glare at him.
Tristan couldn’t stop smiling at her cute reaction. He expected her to feed him, but when she didn’t spare a glance his way, he poked her arm.
"Would you mind sharing it with me"
’Shameless’
"No!.. get one for yourself" she replied, rejecting his request.
Eating at a slow pace, Ashley glanced at Tristan from the corner of her eyes and watched him pout as a child with his shoulder dropped in defeat.
When she didn’t find him looking away, she then turned around and scoop the ice cream into the spoon and brought it closer to his lips.
"You aren’t a kid anymore. So stop acting one" she mumbled and the next second a smile broke on his lips and just like that Tristan gladly accepted the ice cream.
While the couple was busy having ice cream inside the car, there was a certain someone, who kept on clicking photos of them.
"These photo’s are going to be in the news tomorrow. Just wait and watch Ashley Knight I am going to ruin your career, just as you ruined mine" the person muttered looking into the camera, scanning the photos. Once satisfied, he soon left from there.
After finishing the ice cream, the couple then drove back home. Entering the mansion gates Tristan stopped the car in front of the house and unbuckled his seatbelt.
Turning to the side his eyes softened when he saw Ashley sound asleep. Without making any noise he stepped out of the car and walked around to her side.
Carefully opening the door, he then picked her up in his arms and carried her inside the house, heading straight towards their bedroom.
Grace who had just stepped out of her bedroom noticed the duo and smiled before making her way towards the kitchen.
Filling the water jug she stepped out of the kitchen space and heard another sound of a car entering the premise.
Halting her steps she looked at the main door and watched Gwen sneaking inside the house like a thief.
"Gwen Knight, is this the time for you to return home" Grace’s serious voice startled Gwen on the spot.
Watching her mother stand in front of her with a water jar, she gulped.
Grace had already seen the time before walking out of the room. She would have been fine if Karl and come to drop her home at this hour, but finding her all alone, she couldn’t help but feel unhappy.
Unable to meet her mother’s eyes, Gwen simply dropped her shoulder in defeat and make her way toward Grace like a small kid.
Standing next to her Gwen then wrapped her arm around her shoulder and apologize.
"I am sorry, but I had my reasons to come alone. Please don’t be upset" Gwen pouted innocently hoping Grace wouldn’t scold her and let her explain.
Glancing at her, Grace dropped her anger and turned around. "Are you still being followed?" she asked.
Gwen was surprised for a second but soon bobbed her head. There was no way her mother didn’t know what was happening around her. But giving them the space to handle the situation by themselves, Grace never brought that topic ever in front of her.
"Are you sure, you still don’t want my help?" Grace asked one last time and watched Gwen shook her head.
Heaving out a sigh, Grace gave up. The time her children grew up they started relying on themselves but as their parents, she would always be worried for their well-being.
She wanted to help her but she also knew Gwen would never seek her help and solve all the problems all by herself.
Staring at Grace for some time, Gwen then held her hand and walked towards the couch. Making her sit she then joined her not before placing the water jar aside.
"Mom, I know things aren’t easy for me and Karl. But I want to have faith in us. I realized my mistake and now I want to help him" Gwen said.
"Linda isn’t someone easy to set in a trap, but by using the same twisted ways as her, I am sure we could expose her. We just have to be careful" she added.
Grace silently heard her daughter speak. The way she maturely wanted to handle this situation ease her a little.
"Do whatever you want to but, if things go out of your hand, you know you have us" Grace stated
Gwen bobbed her head like a child and hugged her mother. "You are the best," she said and kissed her cheeks.
Grace too dropped her serious act and smiled at her cuteness but the moment she pulled back she noticed a red mark on her neck. It didn’t take time for Grace to realize what it was and she simply cleared her throat and stood up.
Picking up the water jar from the side table, Grace then took a step to leave but stopped.
"I think you should cover that mark on your neck. Thankfully it’s only me who saw it. Think if your brother or father happens to notice it, they would forbid you to meet Karl" Giving a warning she turned and walked away leaving Gwen frozen in her seat.
