Chapter 392: Suspicious

Chapter 392: Suspicious

Gabriel was still venting his anger inside the room when suddenly someone knocked on it and his movements instantly stopped.

He was panting heavily and was ready to lash the person but stopped when he heard him say.

"Boss, Lucas Scott wants to meet you" one of the guards outside the door spoke nervously. Their master never liked to be disturbed unless and until it was something important, but the moment they heard his ferocious voice, he hesitated a little.

Gabriel shot his head in the direction of the voice as the frown on his forehead deepened even more.

’Lucas, what is he doing here?’ he wondered slowly subsiding the animosity within him until he was back to normal.

His eyes looked around the messed room and he cursed, "Damnit..." Ruffing his hair, Gabriel quickly started to adjust his appearance.

"Ask him to wait" he instructed and heard the guard walk away from there.

Lucan was busy pondering why Lucas showed up without any call but then he recalled Tristan’s words.

’Listen to me, Gabriel. Never let anyone find that we have joined hands. Let us be enemies in front of everyone’

Bobbing his head in agreement, Gabriel cleared his mind and then walked out of the room.

[ Secret meeting room]

Sitting on the chair with his legs crossed, Lucas was waiting for Gabriel. He maintained his poker face keeping Sandra’s words in mind to never let Gabriel doubt his loyalty.

Now that they knew Gabriel might have found her truth, he just couldn’t double-cross him. He had his purpose of sticking with both of them and he couldn’t let anyone ruin his plan.

Keeping his eyes on the door, he finally saw it open and Gabriel walked inside. The cold and indifferent look on his face left Lucas confused but he didn’t let it appear to him.

"What brings you here Lucas?" Gabriel asked and he took the chair for himself facing the middle age man.

"I heard your daughter is serving the punishment in the prison. What crime she did" Gabriel knew everything yet he tried to pull his painful strings.

Lucas shot Gabriel a deadly glare but the seriousness on his face forced him to withdraw his gaze.

"Sigh... as if you aren’t aware of it" Anyone could see how Gabriel was trying to act innocent but Lucas knew it wasn’t the scenario.

Gabriel smirked when he noticed how his face changed ugly when he purposely brought up his daughter’s topic, but she deserved that...

"Anyways you didn’t tell me what brings you here?" Gabriel asked as he keenly observed Lucas.

Though he didn’t want to doubt him, yet Tristan’s words made him do that. After getting betrayed by everyone, it wasn’t difficult for him to agree with his friend’s warning.

Lucas heaved out a sigh dropping his guard in front of him and spoke," I just wanted to check on you. I heard about the accident that took place on the set and Tristan even blamed you for it"

Gabriel’s eyes narrowed when he spoke those words. "How did you learn that?" he asked. His face suddenly turned cold.

Lucas was caught off guard when he realized how big he just messed up. ’Will he doubt me’ he thought suddenly feeling his cold piercing eyes looking his way.

" I...I happen to ask Franklin" he lied, carefully noticing the change in his expression.

Gabriel’s eyes didn’t move away from him but his words did make him calm a little. There was something unusual with the way Lucas was talking with him as if he was trying to get something from him.

"Hmm.." Gabriel simply nod his head before he finally looked away.

He didn’t want to intimidate him anyhow but he would also not let his gauds down. He couldn’t trust anyone except Max but then when he looked around he could find him anywhere.

’Where is he..’ he wondered.

[ Park]

Sitting on one of the swings, Tori took a sip from the bottle in her hand. Her eyes looked at the distant sky, full of stars that glittered up above.

This park was where she came along with her sister every afternoon after school was over. She smiled reminiscing the past as tears roll down her eyes.

"Everything around me looks so fake now. No one is genuine. Everyone is a lair..." she talked to herself with her slurry voice and again took a sip but this time she gulp a huge amount of alcohol from the bottle.

Tori was tired of everything and everyone. She just wanted to escape from the reality. Her entire life she seek revenge for her sister’s death but who would’ve thought that her sister was alive?

She fooled everyone...

While Tori was busy pouring out her sorrow, Max stood behind her at a distance watching her quietly. He didn’t have the heart to leave her alone knowing how messed up she was. In the end, he changed his mind and decided to follow her secretly.

His eyes never left her even for a second. She wanted to get drunk he allowed her to buy the alcohol. She wanted to come here, and he silently followed her.

He wasn’t going to disturb her. It was her secluded time and he would let her be.

Standing there Max forgot how much time passed until he finally saw her move. Tori was drunk and was now trying to stand up but stumbled.

"Ahh!... Why is everything spinning" Tori held the side of the swing trying to stabilize herself.

Everything around her was now going round and round and all she wanted was to stand on her ground firmly without falling.

Holding the bottle firmly on her chest with one hand she held the side rope of the swing with another and waited for everything to settle around.

Once her head stopped spinning and her vision became clear she let go of the hold and took a step ahead only to fall.

"Careful!" someone yelped stopping her from touching the ground.

Tori frowned and raised her head to look up. "Max.." she called the name whose voice sounded too familiar to her.

Composing herself she stood straight and jerk off his hands before turning around and walking away.

"I told you not to follow... me. Yet you came" Tori started scolding him for violating her warning and coming after her.

"You aren’t in a good state Tori. Come, let’s go home" Max said taking a few long strides and started to walk along with her. He kept his hand secure around her protecting her from tripping.

"I am good.. you don’t have to always come and look for me..." Tori declined to take his help rejecting his every word and kept walking.

She was so careful with her steps as she focused her blurry eyes on her footsteps, stopping herself from tripping, but even with such a focus she did step on one and stumbled.

"Ah..."

Luckily Max was quick with his reflex and he immediately wrapped his arm around her stopping her from falling.

"I told you, let’s go home" Max was now losing his cool over this stubborn girl. She was so adamant even in her drunken state.

"And I said I won’t come...ah.." her words were left unheard when she was suddenly picked up.

Max didn’t let her finish her words and carried her in his arms...

"Leave me, Max... I said I won’t come" Tori began to wriggle in his arms but he ignored her words and walked out of the park.

He has had enough of her nonsense and now it was time for her to stop being adamant.

It was fine until she was sober but now with the alcohol kicking her system, he wouldn’t leave her alone, not when she wasn’t able to handle herself.

Walking towards his car, Max then opened the front door and made her sit inside. "Behave" he warned when she tried to push him.

He has been lenient with her the entire time but not anymore. Once she stopped moving, he then put on her seatbelt and pulled back before shutting the door.

Walking to the other side, he then hopped into the driver’s seat.

Max turned around to put on his seatbelt when he noticed Tori was staring at him. Even with her drowsy eyes, she intently watched him.

"You didn’t leave?" she asked.

Tori knew even after pushing him away he still decided to follow her. She wasn’t stupid to not understand those silent eyes that tailed everywhere with her.

"I couldn’t" Max responded moving away his eyes from her and sat straight with his eyes focused ahead.

"You try to push me, hurt me with your words but then you follow me, why... why is that you care for me so much yet... you don’t express it" Tori spoke whatever she felt was right at that moment.

Sober or not she wanted to know what he felt for her. Were his feeling so weak that he was ready to let her go...
