Chapter 218: Do you want to die

After having dinner both Karl and Gwen returned to their suite. Getting change, Karl rested on the bed waiting for Gwen to step out of the bathroom.

It had been an hour since she was inside and he had no clue what was taking her so long.

"I think, I should check" Restlessly, he climb down from the bed and rushed towards the bathroom. He raised his hand and was about to knock when the door of the room opened and Gwen stepped out wearing a bathrobe.

Just the sight of her freshly bathe body made his breath hitched and for a second he forgot about what he was doing there.

"K-karl what are you doing here?" she asked holding the front of the bathrobe as if she was trying to hide herself from him.

Her sweet voice snapped him out of his trance and he looked at her but then frowned when he watched her standing awkwardly in front of him.

"I was just checking what was taking you so long to come out," he said calmly and watched her avert her eyes from him.

Karl found it strange to see her avoid meeting his gaze as if she was trying to hide something from him.

Brushing off his thoughts, Karl returned to his normal self and took a step toward her but she turned and walked away from him making him frown once again.

’What’s wrong with her’

Karl thought her mood had changed but here she again started acting strangely. He wanted to know what was bothering her but this stubborn girl always diverted his concern making him forget about it.

But not anymore. This time he won’t let her brush it off or act differently concealing her worries.

Gwen dashed towards the cupboard trying her best, Karl don’t see anything. She was feeling so embarrassed that she wanted to hide somewhere.

She thought after returning to the room she would wear one of the lingerie she carried along but her nervous self ruined everything. How courageously she sneaked inside the bathroom taking the piece of clothes with her but everything went down the lane.

As time passed, her confidence in herself slowly declined and she began to doubt whether she would be able to seduce Karl or she would end up looking like a fool.

"I shouldn’t have bought them. It’s so embarrassing" Gwen mumbled standing in front of the wardrobe realizing how badly she failed.

"What’s so embarrassing Gwen!" Karl’s voice made her flinch and she stiffened.

Gwen was so engrossed in her own thoughts that she didn’t realize when Karl came and stood right behind her.

Finding her stand still, Karl rested his hand on her shoulder and made her turn around to face him.

He want to know what was actually going on in her mind and why was acting strange. He wants to know if he had done anything wrong for which she is punishing him, so he could work on it. But now, he couldn’t just like her act indifferently with him.

The moment they face each other, Gwen lowered her head, hiding her embarrassment. She didn’t know how to face him and what answer she would give him for her behavior.

Karl was hoping she would look at him and answer his question but when she didn’t, he reached his hand under her chin and raised her face.

His eyes softened at the sight of the blush on her cheeks and asked," What are hiding from me Gwen" he said brushing his thumb on her pink taint cheeks.

Gwen’s eyes fluttered as she tried to register his words. Was she supposed to tell him, that she was trying to prove herself, that even she can be a capable woman for you?

She never thought people would come to judge their relationship according to their age. Just because they didn’t stand on the same page, doesn’t mean they didn’t have the right to be with each other.

Gwen felt her eyes well up and before she would break, she leaned and kissed him. She wanted to suppress the insecure feeling that Linda’s words planted in her heart.

She wanted to forget everything and behave just the way she was without thinking about what others might think about them.

Karl was startled for a second but soon gave in and deepened the kiss. Her kiss didn’t come out of love but of urgency. The need she felt to calm herself from something that was bothering her.

Kissing each other, Karl pulled away when he felt they were out of breath and rested their forehead on each other. They were panting, trying to stabilize their beating hearts when Gwen suddenly asked.

"Karl, do you love me?" her question made him pull away and look at her in confusion.

"What kind of question is it," Karl asked her with a surprised smile on his lips. He looked at her and soon his smile faded as he saw the restlessness in her eyes.

Gwen didn’t react but kept staring at him and after some time, she smiled and hugged him. She blinked her eyes trying to fight the tears and held him tight.

"I was just kidding... I know you love me" her voice cracked and she buried her face into his chest.

Karl wrapped his arm around her, falling into deep thought. What did she mean earlier, he thought and something click in his mind.

’Was it because of Linda’ he finally understand where this fear came from.

He never thought Linda’s one remark on their relationship would plant a seed of insecurity in her heart and she would end up doubting herself.

’Damn he should’ve known how sensitive Gwen can be when it came to their relationship’

Watching her see her doubt herself pained his heart. How can she let any stranger’s word matter so much that she ended up judging herself?

Linda was just an old friend whom he met unexpectedly. He was polite to her because they met after a long time and the conversation they had was spoken in a playful way.

But he didn’t realize, Linda’s words would leave a mark on Gwen. It was his fault that he didn’t correct her then and there and that lead her to think inferior of herself.

Holding her close to his heart, Karl let her calm down. Once he sensed her body relaxed, she pulled away but he never let her go.

With his hands still wrapped around her waist, Karl observed her for some time when he finally opened his mouth," Never judge yourself, Gwen. Because my love for you doesn’t care about the age difference between us. It never did back then nor it does now"

Gwen raised her head and looked at him in shock. She saw him nod his head and her lips trembled.

Leaning forward he peck her lips and pulled back before looking deep into her eyes.

"My love for you will never change because it fell for your innocent charm" he smiled tapping her nose and she let out a chuckle.

"Age is just a number Gwen when your love for that person is true" Karl brushed her cheeks with his thumb and watched her nod.

Gwen was finally understanding his words. She understood that having a partner of the same age group doesn’t validate the point that you understand each other well enough.

Sometimes having a mature partner can lead you to see life in a different way. Because you both end up learning new things from each other.

Gwen felt a huge stone lifted from her heart and she felt at ease. How stupid she let Linda’s insensible words affect her mind. The girl had a wrong mindset and she let her play with her thoughts.

Feeling better Gwen smiled but soon she remembered something," Gasp!... no what should I do with this," she said looking at Karl in shock.

Because of her insecure mind, she ended up bringing dozen of lingerie along for the trip just so she could seduce him and prove to herself that even she can be elegant and lady enough to stand with Karl.

Karl looked at her in confusion and before he speak any further, Gwen pushed him making him collide with the wall, and quickly took her clothes before she ran into the bathroom.

Composing himself from a huge push Karl heaved out a breath and shook his head before his lips curled up into a contagious smile.

After talking with Alice, Ashley was feeling a lot better. Alice was the only friend she could rely on in the matter of her heart. Because she knew, she wouldn’t tell anyone and just keep it to herself.

On the way to her suite, Ashley stopped in her tracks when she felt someone’s presence behind her.

Turning around her eyes sharpened when she couldn’t see anyone. Scrutinizing the corridor, she turned around and took a step ahead when suddenly she was lifted.

"You... jerk.. do you want to die-" Ashley screamed but the second she saw the person her voice died.
