Covering himself with his arms, Noah shook his head," I won’t do that," then looked at Karl," Send him instead. He has looks to make anyone fall for him, and he doesn’t have a girlfriend on whom he would cheat."

Karl glared at Noah before rejecting his face," No, I won’t do that, and who said I don’t have a girlfriend? Boss Gwen will be pissed if she happens to find out about this someday", he defended himself.

"WHAT!!" jumping from his seat Noah looked at Karl in shock." Gwen... he is dating our Gwen..." he then turned towards Tristan, who pinched the space between his brow, getting annoyed by his loud voice.

Just because he was busy enjoying his love life, it didn’t mean they would keep him away from such big news.

"Yes, I don’t want her to get hurt," Karl answered plainly.

Noah opened his mouth to speak but closed it back when he felt Tristan’s sharp eyes on him. Clearing his throat, he sat back and said," Fine; I’ll go."

Noah knew there was no way he would reject Tristan or he would find another way to get back to him. Sometimes he wondered what wrong he had done to bring friends who liked to bully him.

Once Tristan was gone, Noah pulled Karl, making him sit next to him," When did this happen, and you naughty sneaky man, you finally accepted that you love her."

Noah was like a medium who had every access to Tristan’s and Karl’s lives. He was a good friend who bottled up many secrets his dear friends would share with him.

Karl rolled his eyes at Noah’s words. He found out about it when Noah caught him staring at Gwen’s picture one day. He was so immersed that he didn’t realize when this man sneaked into his room and saw him red-handed.

"You think I will leave you after you rejected me? No way, you have to help me execute my plan" without waiting for Karl to reject him again, Noah pulled him by his arm and dragged him out of the room.

Grace sat on the couch in defeat. She had been trying to reach Dante, but he wasn’t responding to her calls. It had been more than three days since she last talked with him.

Though his voice sounded a little tired, she decided not to ask him immediately but wait until he returned. She had so many doubts she wanted to clear, but his lack of response gave her anxiety.

Slamming her hand, she got up and walked towards her wardrobe. Pulling out a luggage bag, she started packing her stuff when Trevor stepped inside.

"Are.. you are going... somewhere, darling?" he asked, surprised by the way Grace was in haste.

Grace looked up in the direction where Trevor stood and said," Arrange our flights for country Z. We are going to meet dad" her words shocked Trevor, but he quickly composed before walking towards her.

Pulling her arm, he made her look at him. She looked restless, as if she was scared of something.

"Grace..." gently calling her name Trevor watched her release a shaky breath.

"Dad isn’t answering my calls, and it’s scaring me. What if someone might have-" before she could finish her word Trevor placed his index finger on her lips, making her quiet.

"He is fine... there is nothing to worry about" his words surprised her.

Making her sit on the bed, Trevor held her hands and looked at her. He could tell what she was thinking, but he had to stop her running thoughts before she assumed something was happening.

"H-how can you be sure? He isn’t even picking up the calls" Grace still couldn’t believe it because she had been trying to connect with him for the past two days.

Grace had been trying to be considerate because she knew her past mistakes made her stay away from him, and now that she was on good terms with Dante, she didn’t want to stay away from him.

After her mother died, she now only had Dante. She wanted to cherish this relationship because now she finally understood how important it is to have your parents with you.

"I have this feeling, Trevor, dad isn’t fine. He would never ignore my calls leaving me hanging. Why don’t you take me to him" Grace begged because she was worried Dante might not be well.

"You don’t believe me. Then wait, let me call him instead," he said, pulling out his phone and dialing Dante’s number.

The ring went on for a while when the call was finally picked up, and Dante’s voice came from the other side.

"Hello..." as soon as Grace heard Dante’s voice, she broke into tears.

"Grace, sweetheart, why are you crying," Dante asked, worrying after he heard Grace’s crying sound.

"Dad... why aren’t you picking up my calls" she whined, wiping off her tears and complaining.

On the other hand, Dante was lying on the hospital bed as he was currently going through his treatment and was exhausted, but still, for his daughter, he let go of his pain and smiled cheerfully.

"I was caught up in some work which was why I couldn’t answer your calls. I am sorry I made you worry" Dante didn’t realize his absence would make Grace worry about him so much.

He was so used to living a lonely life that he forgot, now things weren’t like before, and he had his daughter waiting on him.

Grace felt the sincerity in his words which made her feel somewhat relaxed. If he didn’t pick the call, she would have dragged Trevor along to meet her father and be at peace once she saw him with her own eyes.

"You scared me, dad. You don’t know what, all thoughts crossed my mind," she sighed, finally feeling better. She had been holding it in her heart, but now that she spoke, she felt at ease.

"Promise me you will never ignore my calls and... how long do you plan to stay in country Z. I want you here, dad. I miss you" Grace had been a strong lady all her life, but now she wanted to be a kid who couldn’t have an everyday life like the others.

Dante felt his heartbreak. He was a selfish father who kept his daughter in the dark because he didn’t want to hurt her, but what would happen when she finally learned about his illness? Will she be fine, or would she react the same way she did now?

No, he wouldn’t let her go through that pain. He would never allow her to find his illness. He wants his daughter to be happy, and when the departure arrives, he will leave without letting her know anything.

"I promise... I will never ignore you," he said with a sad smile appearing on his face.

Dante would be strong for her because he didn’t want her to be hurt by him.

Grace nodded her head and continued talking with him for some time before they ended the call.

Now that she had finally heard from him, she felt a lot better than before but-

"Do you feel better now that you’ve talked with your dad" Trevor’s voice broke her trance?

She turned to see him staring at her. Yes, she was feeling better when talking with Dante, but the tiredness she sensed in his voice wasn’t ignored. She heard him grunt as if he was purposely suppressing his pain, and she found it quite unusual.

Putting on a smile, Grace nodded her head. She thought of not expressing her doubts to Trevor. She knew he would only brush it off by telling her she was overthinking because now her suspicions had been slowly confirmed. It wasn’t her overthinking mind but something happening behind her back, and she wasn’t aware of it.

Hospital

After ending the call, Dante hissed in pain. The therapy was too painful for his weak body, but he still wanted to try it. When Matt told him that his chances of survival could be prolonged, he changed his mind from completely giving up his hope.

"How many days do I have to stay here," he said, looking at Matt sitting next to him on the chair.

Dante now wanted to return to Grace. After listening to her, he just wanted to see her. He knew she was worried for him and tried to show her that he was all fine and safe.

"Once your body gets used to the medicines, I will run another test for confirmation. Once everything seems fine, you can go, but-" he stopped looking at him as he pursed his lips.

"But..." he asked in anticipation as his eagerness increased his silence.
