Every second passed with increasing anxiety. Karl’s silence gave her the answer.

"I knew you wouldn’t like them. I shouldn’t have made them" dropping her shoulder in defeat, she lowered her head.

Gwen knew she wasn’t a good cook, to begin with, but still, she wished somehow she would impress him by making him breakfast.

Karl arch his brow as he watched her assume everything on her own." Who said they aren’t good? They are the best pancakes I have tasted in my entire life" his blank face contorted as he smiled looking at her.

Gwen shot her head up looking at him in surprise and heard him say again," I like them, Gwen. Trust me they are the best I have ever eaten" his positive response lightened up her mood and she too started to savor them.

Gwen was so surprised by her cooking that she couldn’t help but feel proud of herself.

Soon both finished up their breakfast and left for work.

Hospital

Noah sneak at his father who was glaring at him without saying a word. The moment he rushed to meet him, Noah thought of thousand reasons to prove his action but now, he felt like whatever he said his father would never believe him.

"Are you going to sit like a nervous puppy without utter a word Noah Wayne" Taylor wasn’t someone who would get upset with his son?

He knew Noah wasn’t someone who would purposely make mistakes, but when Vincent Grey accused him of his son’s condition he couldn’t help but get upset with him.

"He deserves that" Noah muttered without meeting his father’s deadpan eyes.

Taylor arched his brow observing his son patiently. He knew Noah was into someone as he had his spies tabbing Noah’s every move. His son was a labeled playboy, which was why Taylor had to keep an eye on him.

"Punching someone for no reason isn’t a good excuse Noah. You know Vincent is a good friend of mine and you happen to beat his son" Taylor was still calm with his words. He had always been.

Noah kept his mouth shut without looking up. He didn’t regret beating Dylan. He provoked him and he punched him, it’s that simple.

"Sigh... Is it because of the girl you are currently staying with or should I say fooling around" his words made him snap at Taylor.

"I am not fooling around dad. She is the girl I like and if that scum again try to get closer to her he would be found dead" Noah didn’t beat around the bush. He assumed that Taylor was already aware of his relationship with Alice.

Taylor’s lips curled up into a proud smile. When he learned about Noah getting involved with a girl, he thought she was just his fling. With his playboy image, Taylor never thought, Noah would ever get serious with someone and would end up being alone.

But now when he saw how serious he was, Taylor couldn’t stop but be proud.

"Don’t taint your hand with his blood Noah. Next time just bring him to me. I will take care of him" his words made Noah relax.

"When do plan to bring the girl to meet us? Your mother would be so happy to finally see her son getting serious in life" Taylor changed the topic clearing the tense air around them.

"Soon," he said.

"Why didn’t you inform me about your return? Even mom didn’t call me. Did you both forget you have a son" Noah complain.

Taylor scratched his head pursing his lips into a thin line. Noah watched his father in confusion and heard him say.

"Don’t freak out but after I told her about the girl you like, she couldn’t stop herself from meeting her. I think she must’ve reached your house by now" Taylor said looking at his watch.

When he ended the call with Noah, Anna called him the second later informing him about what he just told Noah.

He tried to stop her but his excited wife shut his mouth saying she just called to inform him not to listen to his words.

Taylor Wayne was an unapproachable man who carried this aloof personality, scaring the people around him with his deadpan face but when it came to his wife, he was a different person.

Noah jumped from his seat and looked at his father in horror.

"What!!! Mom already reach my home" he asked suddenly feeling his soul leaving his body.

Noah was yet to introduce his parents to Alice. He just wanted to give Alice some time before she was ready to meet them. But now with his mother’s sudden visit, he doubted if she would like it or not.

"Dad you should’ve stopped her. Why are you so helpless in front of mom" Noah stated, making his face twitch.

"You know I don’t like to upset your mother," Taylor shrugged his shoulder making Noah roll his eyes.

He knew his father was a wife slave and there was no way he would stop his mother at anything.

"But now, Alice will be upset with me," he said, storming out of his cabin in a hurry.

He just reach his home as soon as possible.

"It’s not like Anna would scare her. Though she sometimes scares me" Taylor said clearing his throat.

This man who scared his staff with his deadly look was scared of his wife who sometimes wasn’t that sweet.

Ashley reached the agency after much struggle. Tristan wasn’t leaving her even after she got ready. He kept clinging to her like a koala, stopping her from leaving him when he was late for work.

It had been more than a week and the moment she stepped inside the building, everyone’s eyes fell on her.

Ignoring their gaze Ashley headed to the CEO’s office. Finn had asked her to meet him before he leaves for a business trip.

After learning about Gorge many people began to judge his leadership. He was the one who appointed Gorge and now he had to clear this mess on his own.

He knew Gorge held a grudge against Ashley but never thought he would stoop low to try to kill her.

Finn’s office

"I am sorry for whatever you went through, Ashley" Finn genuinely regretted his decision to keep Gorge as part of the staff even after knowing his behavior.

He never thought his anger toward Ashley had increased to an extent where he even went on scheming against her using Jane.

Ashley knew Finn had no clue about this. Just like her, she didn’t imagine Gorge and Jane would do such an unexpected thing to her.

"I never thought Gorge would end up scheming against you" his sorrowful words showed how much he regretted his decision to still give Gorge the chance to change his behavior.

Ashley wasn’t upset at Finn because he always supported her whenever Gorge would target her for no reason.

"I don’t want you to apologize to me, Uncle Finn. You weren’t aware of this too" she wasn’t upset with him because she knew he had no clue about Gorge and Jane’s intentions towards her.

"Still, being the CEO it was my responsibility to guard you" Finn apologized.

Ashley didn’t say a word and accepted his apology. Once the atmosphere around them calmed they talked about the work.

"It’s time for you to think a little bigger Ashley" Finn’s words made her confused.

"What do you mean Uncle? Am I not doing good enough"

Ashley right now was at the peak of her career. She had many projects already lined up. Not only that many companies wanted her to be the brand ambassador of their product. Still, Finn wanted her to think big.

"That’s not what I meant. You have been doing good but now, I want you to think a little differently. How long will pose for a magazine cover and be a runaway model? Don’t you think you are limiting your talent"

Finn had been guiding Ashley for a long time but now he wanted her to grow in every field. She had been a model for almost five years and now he wanted her to try things that would involve her in different spheres.

Ashley was quietly listening to his words. She didn’t realize it until now and somewhat he was right. She was committed to modeling for almost five years and had huge success then why not think out of the box?

Finn observed Ashley before he passed a file to her.

"I won’t force you to change your mind. But still, I want you to consider or at least think about it" he said.

"What’s in this?" she asked knitting her brow and looking back at Finn.

"It’s a script for a commercial ad. I want you to consider this"

Ashley had no experience in acting because she had only been modeling and posing for various brands. Acting was something she never thought about.

"But Uncle, you know I can’t act and this commercial needs my acting skill" Ashley was contemplating. It would be a waste of time for both her and the company that would hire her.

"I know... but why don’t you give it a try. Don’t you want to explore your talent apart from modeling and with this one small step you can increase your audience" Finn was aware more than loyal fans there were anti-fans who hated her and it was a great opportunity for her to prove herself?

She had the chance to clear her image which was always limelight for the wrong reason.
