Pierre looked at himself in the mirror, checking whether his ultra-expensive suit was good enough for this event.

"Ah, I should’ve worn a different suit! This doesn’t look expensive enough!" Pierre complained, but he had no choice as this set was the best he could have.

He was very excited, but also nervous for the upcoming family function that’d be held in Alex’s golf resort.

"Maybe I should wear something more casual? It’s business casual," Pierre muttered as he continued looking at his reflection in the mirror.

From that reflection, he saw a woman standing behind him, leaning at the door, wearing a long, silver dress that made her look beautiful and showed her curves despite her age.

"What are you panicking for? Didn’t you say this is just a regular family function?" Julia asked.

"You don’t understand, Julia. This family function is held by the Langfords—which are basically just Hugh and Alexander Langford, but they are the patriarchs of the entire big family and its branches!" Pierre emphasized. "Usually, I’d just walk into any family function even if I am not invited because I am still his cousin, aren’t I?"

"And what’s so different with this one?"

Pierre had a big smile on his face. He was genuinely overjoyed right now, "This was the first time Alex had sent me a formal invitation, and told me that he expected me to be there on time! He has always been so aloof and uncaring before, but maybe he changed his mind. Maybe he finally sees my value as his cousin and how smart I am, so I can start buttering him up and make sure my dad’s company gets all the huge projects with Alex’s backing!"

Pierre could already imagine how happy his father would be if he could make Alex or the patriarch back all of their company’s upcoming projects.

Julia had no idea who this Alex was, so she asked, "Is he that powerful? How come I’ve never heard of him before?"

Pierre’s smile disappeared. He looked at Julia as if she had accidentally offended him "Evelyn never told you about him, huh?"

"She cut contact with me for more than a decade, of course, I know nothing about her," Julia replied. "Why don’t you tell me the details instead? It might help us."

"Alexander Langford is the only son and the heir of the Langford family estate and businesses. He is a baby born with a golden spoon. He’s currently a rising movie star, a job that he did for absolutely no reason," Pierre explained. "Before he worked as an actor, he lived a life of privacy that even I—as his cousin—barely knew about. Well, until someone informed me that he was dating a woman and lived a somewhat shabby life for five years straight..."

Pierre stared at Julia without blinking, as if telling her that she should’ve known who that woman was.

Julia smirked, "That woman is Evelyn, huh?"

"Yes. That’s why I dated Evelyn. I want to know what makes her so good that she could date Alex for five years! I have to say that she is indeed a gorgeous woman, with a very attractive personality and wonderful body!" Pierre listed all of Eve’s qualities. He might be having bad blood against Eve right now, but he wouldn’t lie that Eve was indeed a piece of art. "If she is a hooker, then Eve would be a high-class hooker!"

"Indeed, she would," Julia smiled mysteriously. "The way you talked about Alex makes you sound like a fanboy. Aren’t you his cousin? I’ve never seen anyone praising his cousin like you do."

"Because he is just unreachable for me," Pierre sighed. "He never once tried talking to me and always ignored me ever since we were young. My dad always told me to get close to Alex, because he will be the next patriarch, and I will be super rich just by being his good cousin and subordinate."

"You just want to be his lapdog?" Julia raised her brow. "My good, handsome, and smart boy Pierre, I thought you wanted to be an ’Alpha male’. From all those podcasts you’ve watched, do you think those Alpha males want to be a lapdog?"

"I-I want to be an Alpha male for Evelyn. She needs to know her position as a woman. But I don’t think I will ever match Alex’s wealth and influence, let alone beat him..." Pierre admitted in a shy, almost squeaky voice, which showed his true nature.

Julia almost rolled her eyes in response, but of course, she didn’t as she was a professional, and a professional never showed her disgust to her client.

"You don’t need to beat him now. Just find a way to make him like you, or at least consider your capability. Once you’ve gotten his trust, you can plan your way to take all of his assets and influence," Julia advised. "You can’t be an Alpha male by being a wimp, Pierre."

"I-I am not a wimp!" Pierre puffed his chest immediately. "I am just a little... intimidated."

"An Alpha male wouldn’t be intimidated by his cousin. That’s like... scared of seeing your uncle!"

"B-but I’m also scared of my uncle..."

"Fine, then it’s like getting scared of your father!"

"But I’m also scared of my dad..." Pierre admitted weakly. He lowered his head like a defeated boy.

Julia’s lips thinned. She almost cursed out loud when she realized this man was really a wimp.

But, as patient as she was in front of a client, she asked, "Is there anyone in this world that you’re not afraid of?"

"Well, I’m not afraid of you," Pierre replied.

"How about Evelyn?"

Pierre went silent for a second before stammering, "I-I am not a-afraid of her too..."

Julia took a deep breath and resumed her kind smile. She approached him and patted Pierre’s back gently, "It’s alright. We can start from here. If you can make Eve submit to you and admit that she is nothing but a stupid woman who deserves no success in life, I’m sure you will be stronger and braver in the future."

"Y-yes! I sure will!" Pierre nodded, and he resumed looking at himself in the mirror.
