"Because I like your lips," Alex replied shortly. "It’s sweet, and the way your body reacts makes it even better. It has become a hobby to see how you will struggle to finish the kiss early. Your cheeks will get red, your chest will palpitate, and your body will tremble as the temperature rises. Eventually, you will give up and open your mouth, so we can—"

"S-stop describing it!" Eve was already red as an apple right now. She was so embarrassed because what Alex described was 100% correct. "I-I will do my part and look natural as your fake girlfriend. Alex was quite entertained by his own imagination, as he conjured the image of Eve acting like those high-class ladies whose feet never touched dirt. He thought it’d be funny to see.

"Don’t get me wrong. You can be a supermodel if you want to, but I prefer you to be my Eve," Alex said. He pinched Eve’s cheek, "The same Eve from five years ago. Got it?"

Eve brushed his hand away from her cheek, "F-fine, I can do that. I never change anyway..."

"Mhm," Alex sipped his coffee for the last time before getting ready to walk out of the dining hall. "I’ll be in my office to contact a few people. Don’t you need to go to the agency today?"

"I’ve told Andrea to push all of my meetings until next week. I also told her to call me if Pierre starts to do something to threaten the agency," Eve replied. "I think he’ll wait until a week before he starts doing something. He’s not a brave man, at least not before he watched those stupid alpha male nonsense. He’s probably thinking that I will surrender before the weekend."

"You know him better than I expected, now I’m a little jealous," Alex joked, but his cold tone didn’t make it sound like a joke to her. "That’s what I’m guessing as well. I was planning to squash him like a bug this week, so he wouldn’t be able to do anything against you. But since you have other plans against him, then I’d just follow through first."

"Squishing him right away isn’t on my agenda, at least now that you’re by my side," Eve replied. "He made the two years of our relationship a living hell. Why should I forgive him so easily after he screwed me over like this?"

"You’re so vengeful, Evelyn. I like it," Alex smiled. "Why are you so angry at him that you planned revenge, but not against me?"

"Because I didn’t love him enough," Eve bluntly replied. "The only thing he was good at was his simple brain. So I tolerated him despite all the things he said and done."

"But you loved me, so you never planned revenge against me?" Alex asked.

Eve didn’t want to answer. She shifted her gaze towards the glass pane to stare at the sea and then fell into a long silence.

Alex didn’t get the answer he wanted, but he was still happy because her silence was an indirect confirmation.

"Got my answer. I think I’m right," Alex smiled before walking out of the dining hall.

Eve continued staring at the beautiful view of the sea, and muttered, "You’re wrong, Alex. I still love you, that’s why I never plan anything against you."

Alex entered his home office, and his smile disappeared instantly the moment he sat on the executive chair. His intimidating aura would make everyone tremble in fear, but he never showed this in front of Eve, knowing that she wasn’t used to this side of him.

He had a few questions that needed to be answered, especially regarding Pierre.

What he said about crushing Pierre immediately was true. It would be so easy because that bum truly had no power and influence other than his dad’s love.

But neither Pierre nor his dad should’ve known about Eve unless someone else told them so.

’I thought that it was Eve who actively searched for that idiot Pierre and dated him just to get the last laugh against me,’ Alex thought. ’I was wrong. For the past two years, someone has been watching over her.’

He didn’t want anything bad to happen to his woman, so he had to eliminate any possibility of someone trying to harm her.

He grabbed his phone and called his friend—Joshua, who became his subordinate once Alex decided to clean up a few trash around his family.

The call connected in three seconds, and Joshua on the other side greeted first.

"Good morning, Boss. Something’s up? Is it time for me to beat that bastard to a pulp?" Joshua asked. "I thought your Madam wanted to play a little game with him first."

"Change of plan. I just heard from her that Pierre was the one who walked into the office and asked to be her personal assistant first. He also mentioned his connection with me. That idiot must’ve known beforehand that I dated her for five years," Alex revealed before adding, "I want you to dig into whatever connection he has and find out how he gets this information."

"Do you want me to do it the easy way or the hard way?" Josh asked. "It’d be easier to ask him directly."

"He’s a wimp, don’t you know that? If you ask him directly with a threat, he will report everything to his father and also to whoever informant he has. Make it subtle, I’m sure you know how to," Alex instructed.

Josh sighed, "You always know how to make it difficult for me, Alex. But alright, just know that I’m not doing it for free. I will get my payment first."

"And what do you want?"

Josh paused momentarily before replying, "Fund my search for my lost half-sister. I’ve been searching for her nonstop."

"Hadn’t I always done that?" Alex rolled his eyes. "Deal, I’ll give you whatever money you asked for. Now, do what I asked for."

"Sure thing, Boss!"
