Chapter 68 - 68 9 Call Me Cinerous Vulture Seeking Collection_1

When he turned into a pterosaur, it took him several months to learn to fly.

Now that he had transformed into a bird, it only took him a moment to take flight smoothly.

The sensation of flying in the bright daylight was completely different from sneaking around at night.

Yan Fei no longer continued exploring Cow Breeding Island, nor attend his classes.

He merely hovered in the sky above the town, even specifically flying over his own cattle farm, watching for a while.

Inside, he was gleeful: I’m like a supervisor now, who dares to slack off?

Yan Fei’s grandfather, the actual supervisor, looked up and spotted Yan Fei, and joked with a few workers, “We’re in luck today, got to see a hawk.

These wild creatures have become rare now.

In previous years, we had to guard our chickens against them…”

So, some of the older workers started to chat while they worked.

Before long, their conversation turned to how life had improved over the years, and seeing animals or not didn’t really matter.

Look at that boy from the Yan family; he’s already raising more than a dozen cows at such a young age.

If land trading was popular now, he would certainly be a landlord!

They ended their discussion when one of them suddenly exclaimed.

They watched as the hawk dove down.

To their stunned amaze, what they first thought was a performance of the hawk fishing from the water, turned out to be the bird diving straight into the wide water surface at the mouth of Sancha River, disappearing from sight.

After staring for a long while, they still didn’t see the hawk reappear.

Someone sighed, “Ah, there are really fewer and fewer wild animals these days.

Look, the hawk has no rabbits to catch, so it had to fish.

What a pity for such a big guy.

If the weather was warmer, we could fetch it and there would be a lot of meat!”

This sentiment immediately gained agreement from those around, unanimously lamenting: What a waste of such a large piece of meat!

They had no way of knowing that underneath the river water, a small crocodile was shaking its head and swimming downstream.

While swimming, it berated itself: Damn, I was too overconfident.

I almost drowned while trying to catch a fish, thank god I can transform into a little crocodile.

Finally, I’ve found the advantages of a small crocodile.

Although it is a “small” crocodile, in this small river, a crocodile more than half a meter long is practically the king.

After a while, he started feeling fortunate again.

Originally, I wanted to try out if I could catch rabbits as a bird.

Luckily, I didn’t spot a rabbit first but a fish.

Otherwise, I might have died from carelessly diving into the ground.

From now, when I turn into a bird, I’ll rename myself to “Diving Bird”.

I made up my mind.

I won’t attempt to hunt rabbits from the air before catching a fish in the water.

But “Diving Bird” doesn’t sound majestic enough.

How about…

Drilling Sky Bird?

Drilling Earth Bird?

No, I will call myself Cinerous Vulture then, becoming the toughest villain, hehe!

The flight of a cinerous vulture is much more agile than that of a pterosaur, but whether it’s faster or more energy-saving is still untested.

The casual flight above Sancha River was just like taking a walk, not tiring at all.

However, it was evident that the cinerous vulture might be a little lacking in long-distance flights.

After all, they thrive in forests, unlike humans’ eagles that fly in the sky every day.

In comparison to the size of dinosaurs, they are merely small birds.

They have no advantages in the sky except for being more agile due to their feathers.

They are probably at the same rank as sparrows among birds in human society, at most, no higher than pigeons.

It wasn’t until the students finished school that Yan Fei leisurely returned to the cattle farm, pretending he had been to school.

This time, he made sure to go home after all the students had left the school gate, avoiding the embarrassment of getting home earlier than everyone else.

After all, that was a rare occurrence.

He didn’t mind missing night study sessions, his grandfather didn’t have high expectations of him; being able to attend school was good enough.

He could harvest vegetables at night again.

He sowed the seeds densely, so now he only needed to pick the bigger ones to sell.

There would be another batch after one was sold, and this could probably go on a few more times.

The problem was that he was getting hungry too easily.

While bundling vegetables on Vegetable Garden Island at night, he still had to simmer meat in a pot.

It felt like he was always hungry.

If he didn’t eat, he didn’t feel he would starve to death, but after eating, he didn’t feel full for long either.

It’s really annoying, he’s had enough of overeating.

After eating, he sneaked to Cow Breeding Island again to continue exploring carefully.

In fact, it was pretty much the same.

No large carnivorous dinosaurs were found on Cow Breeding Island, apart from the Sarcosuchus and the Terrestrisuchus.

The rest are two types of Microraptors, one with large wings that could glide, and the other with tiny wings that relied on its legs to run.

I dared not go to the lakeside.

It was not very clear at night, and if those Sarcosuchus were still, we could not find them at all.

It was too dangerous.

Walking slowly around the periphery of the forest, I discovered several kinds of insects, all of which were large enough to be seen at night.

Used to seeing small insects in human society, it wasn’t shocking, but once these insects got larger, they looked quite disgusting.

I carefully avoided a basin-sized spider, and walked quietly over the soft fallen leaves.

Without any warning, my heart suddenly became alert.

Returning from the dinosaur world to human society, this had already become Yan Fei’s instinctive reaction.

Almost as soon as he sensed the alert, he disappeared from the spot.

Not far from where he had just stood, the fallen leaves were suddenly thrown up, and amidst the swirling branches and rotten leaves, a centipede-like giant insect, two to three meters long, sprang out.

The centipede that landed on the ground was somewhat puzzled, where had the Compsognathus it had just seen gone?

But before it could figure out why its prey had disappeared, it suddenly felt a heaviness on its back, and then its head was smashed in by a hammer.

As the saying goes, ‘A centipede dies but never falls down’.

The centipede, even with a hole in its head, was still rolling and struggling, wreaking havoc on its surroundings.

The Compsognathus, who had already put the hammer back in the room, was watching its death throes from a branch not far away.

Seeing that it struggled for a long time without dying, the Compsognathus gently jumped down from the branch, turned his head to check the surrounding space, then rapidly grew larger, transforming into a Rhamphorhynchus.

A centipede is a joke in front of a pterosaur.

Its two or three meter long body is about the same length as the beak of a pterosaur.

However, not accustomed to using such a long beak for hunting, the pterosaur was a bit clumsy.

It took quite a few attempts to finally grasp the centipede, and with a simple bite and a toss of its head, the bisected centipede was thrown away, becoming motionless.

Just as the pterosaur was about to transform back, it suddenly noticed small black spots sneaking closer in the distance.

Transform back into Compsognathus, return to the room, then reappear on the branches, looking over in that direction.

When those small black spots came closer, Yan Fei realised that there was nothing to be alarmed about: they were just a few small terrestrial Raptors.

A few Raptors cautiously approached, only to find that the large Pterosaur had disappeared, and all that was left on the ground were two pieces of the severed centipede.

They instantly became excited.

In the blink of an eye, they pounced, sharp teeth and sharp claws all focused on their task.

Within moments they had torn the centipede to pieces and swallowed them into their stomachs.

Just then, one of the small Raptors, who had just swallowed a piece of the bug, saw the Compsognathus on the branch and immediately began to scream.

Faced with provocation, Yan Fei was not weak.

After all, the trees he picked were tall and straight.

It wouldn’t be easy for them to get up there.

Indeed, after a cacophony of squeals, the Raptors tried to chase and climb up the tree, but always fell short of reaching the branched areas.

Yan Fei was rather amused watching their performance.

The Raptors quickly realised that this prey was beyond their reach, quickly gave up, squawked, and left.

Yan Fei gracefully descended from the tree, transformed into a Diving Bird as he was mid-air, flapped his wings a couple of times, and once he hit the ground he transformed back into Compsognathus.

Actually, being a nimble Cinerous Vulture would be the most suitable for exploring the forest, but Yan Fei had just met the requirements to transform into a bird, and his familiarity with this body was far from enough.

His flight skills were not up to scratch, and the noise of his wings flapping carried too far in the night.

The small Compsognathus was more convenient.

As soon as he landed, he had a feeling.

He looked up and saw that the group of Raptors that had just left were actually ambushing him from afar, and as soon as they saw him land, they charged towards him once more.

They’re quite cunning!

If the little ones are begging for death, then don’t blame me for being ruthless.

In the midst of the little Raptors’ frenzied charge, they watched in horror as a Compsognathus suddenly inflated like a balloon, and in the blink of an eye, it had transformed into a huge Pterosaur.

The most courageous little Raptor at the forefront didn’t even have time to react, and like a moth to a flame, it charged straight towards the Pterosaur’s two-meter-long beak.

“Squeak…”

After a high-pitched scream that signalled death, followed by a series of panicked cries, the other small Raptors didn’t even give themselves time to think before turning around and running into the depths of the forest, without waiting for the Pterosaur to continue its attack.
