Chapter 76: Nowhere To Run To
Jules’ pov
Despite how much I pulled on the doorknob while screaming desperately, it didn’t budge. My heart was racing fast and my fingers were trembling. The fear I was experiencing was so crippling, it was making my legs wobble but I refused to give up trying.
"Well, at this point, I don’t think there’s any point in still keeping this pretense up, don’t you think so?" The sound of the principal speaking made the scream I was about to let scream to get stuck in my throat.
I jostled the door knob and let out another scream right before he continued. "Also, can you stop screaming? Hasn’t it dawned on you that it’s completely pointless?" He demanded and my lips wobbled as I blinked at the door, desperately willing for it to magically open.
But it didn’t.
I slowly turned around, throat constricting as my gaze settled on the principal and Kim once again. Kim was standing beside the table, eyes wide and lips parted, while the principal had a sneer on his face, an expression which made me shudder with fright as I pressed my back against the door, lips wobbling once again as I tried to get past the lump in my throat.
"What do you want with me?" I demanded frantically, voice shrill and filled with clear panic.
The principal scoffed with a shake of his head and then he walked around the table to pull out one of the lush chairs. Once seated, he pointed a finger at me.
"You know, come to think of it. It makes so much sense that you and Blaze are fated mates because he has never protected anyone before until you." He revealed as he looked me up and down, a flat look plastered over his face and my heartbeat accelerated even more.
This man was bringing Blaze up once again, for reasons unknown to me. How the hell did he even know that Blaze and I are fated mates?
From the corner of my eyes, I noticed Kim beginning to pace around, a frantic look plastered over his face.
"I want out." Kim announced, face stricken with stark panic. He leveled the principal with a scowl.
"I convinced the boy to come with us, didn’t I? I’ve delivered him here like I was told to, so now I’m leaving!" He continued, already heading towards the door, where I was still leaning against.
However, in a flash, the principal was beside Kim, gripping his arm tightly, a dark look on his face. "The hell? You can’t fucking leave now, we have to complete this together." The principal’s voice was sharp and I watched as Kim wrenched himself from the tight grip on his arm and began to pace once again, fingers pulling in his hair.
"I can’t, okay? I want out." He shouted while still pacing around. "Blaze is gonna kill me, he’s really gonna kill me."
He sounded really frightened now, a complete contrast from the confident Kim I was used to seeing. I blinked in confusion, wondering if he and Blaze have had an unpleasant encounter before, for him to sound this certain.
I genuinely felt flattered and relieved that he felt this way, like Blaze would kill him because of me. At least, that should convince them to let me go, right?
"He wouldn’t, okay? I have this under control, so stop panicking!" The principal snapped in response and I flinched, heart pounding as he pointed towards me and spoke.
"He won’t be able to tell that we took him. His life is gonna end tonight anyway once he lands in the hands of the higher ups." The principal continued and my eyes widened even more, my mouth dropping open in shock.
"What do you guys plan to do with me??! Please let me go already!" I frantically cried out, eyes darting between the two of them who were staring at each other, panting deeply.
Kim pointed in my direction, that panicked look still on his face. "How the hell are you gonna protect me when you cannot even protect yourself? Didn’t Blaze give you a warning to stay away from him like he warned me to?!" Jules cried out, hand shaking a little and it felt like I got punched in the stomach, mind reeling in disbelief at Kim’s revelation.
Blaze had warned the two of them to stay away from me?!
That only meant one thing. It means he knew something which I didn’t.
Oh my gosh. What kind of mess am I currently tangled in?!
"Relax, okay? I have it under control." The principal finally responded and Kim let out a scoff before commencing his pacing.
"Can any of you please respond to me? What the hell is going on? Why am I being held against my will?" I demanded urgently, glancing between the two of them once again. The principal threw me a dark look, eyes still glowing and I found my flinching and averting my gaze on remembering that he initially tried to hypnotize me.
Moments later, my phone began to ring and I stiffened at once, eyes widening as two pairs of eyes settled on me.
I blinked twice before scrambling to get it so I could answer the call. Taylor was the one calling, but before I could do so, the principal was beside me in a flash, having zipped across the room. He whisked the phone from me and was at the other side of the room before I could blink.
"Please let me answer the call." I called out desperately, watching as the principal kept regarding my phone screen before sneering and shaking his head.
"Looks like you’ve texted a bunch of people that you’re in trouble, which was smart, I’d give you that. But also stupid, because now I’d have to get rid of them if they cause any trouble for me." He drawled and my knees wobbled as panic gripped me even more. "They left a bunch of texts... so many, and... oh look, Taylor is calling you again, how sweet."
I pushed away from the door, rushing towards the principal while fear gripped my heart. Before I could get to him, he threw my phone against a wall, and it smashed to pieces at once.
"No, no, no. Please no." I whispered frantically, falling to my knees and crawling towards the broken pieces of the phone. The sound of him erupting in laughter grated over every inch of my spine and my chest felt grew tighter.
"No one would be able to save you this time." He drawled out amidst another string of laughter and I felt my eyes start to sting with tears, chin wobbling as I tried to regulate myself in order not to get a panic attack.
"Tie him up." The principal thundered, and I didn’t need to check to know that he was referring to Kim. I remained in the same position, staring down at the broken pieces of my phone while silently asking myself if this was my end.
Kim was clearly reluctant and still worried as he crouched before me and began to tie my hands together.
"You’re a monster. For someone who’s supposed to protect other preys, you’re worse than a predator." I sneered into his face and I watched as he scoffed before gripping my hair and jerking it hard.
"Shut the hell up right now, you fucking know nothing!" He snarled, gaze angry but I only scoffed at him, uncaring of what he could do to me since it already sounded like my life was ending tonight.
As Kim rose to his feet, the principal crouched before me and regarded me closely. "How the hell were you able to resist my hypnotism? Huh? Did you use a potion?" He asked, reaching out to grab my jaw so our eyes could be locked.
That was a question I didn’t have an answer to.
"Leave me alone and fucking release me." I responded but he only chuckled before rising to his feet and whipping out his vibrating phone.
"I’ll be arriving with the boy soon. Kim and I currently have him." The principal said into the phone as he grabbed his suit jacket and shrugged on.
Once he returned back to me, I squared my jaw as I glared at him. "You’re gonna regret this, I swear it." I informed him while silently wishing the lock over my magic could be released for a few minutes so I could teach this vampire a lesson.
"And how the hell do you plan on doing that? Huh? With your dormant wolf? Because Blaze won’t be here to save your ass like he did from those two vampires whose lives he ended up wasting, that deranged bastard." He sneered, voice bitter on getting to the last part of his sentence.
My eyes widened in disbelief because it finally dawned on me that the principal was the one who had sent those two vampires to come capture me that night.
Fucking hell.
As the principal jerked me to my feet, I sucked in a deep breath and spoke.
"Why are you doing this though? Why? Where are you taking me to? To who? You mentioned something about a higher up–"
I was still speaking when a slap landed on my face and my head whipped sideways.
"Don’t ask me unnecessary dumb questions! Now, better start fucking moving if you don’t want more of that."
