Chapter 75: Hillstone Nightclub
As I tentatively stepped out of the car, I was on high alert as my gaze darted around, zeroing in on a bunch of luxurious cars. A few men dressed in poise, matching uniform were all walking around, and one of them stepped towards the other side of the range rover and accepted the car keys from the principal, right before he drove it away.
"I thought you said we were going to a nearby restaurant?" I asked before I could second guess myself. Kim grimaced and I watched as the principal shrugged a little.
"Relax, McCarthy. This isn’t all that far either, is it? I believe we’d have more privacy here compared to a restaurant." He revealed and I felt my gaze narrow almost immediately. On a normal day, I might have believed him. But I could feel that something was undoubtedly wrong.
And so I cleared my throat and let my gaze wander around once again.
"What do we want to discuss? Can you just tell me here?" I asked, biting at the inside of my mouth. Kim, who had been silent, let out a long sigh after the principal gave him a flat look.
"Let’s just go in and have this conversation, okay darling?" He proposed, voice inviting and I shook my head, taking a step back. He reached for my shoulders but I took another step back, heart racing.
"I- I’m sorry but I’d prefer we have the conversation out here." I announced and the principal cocked his head sideways.
"Any reason why? We’re here already, after all." He reminded me, waving around for emphasis. I swallowed emptily, hating that I was always in uncomfortable situations every damn time.
"I just don’t feel comfortable going into a nightclub with you, sir. Isn’t that... inappropriate?" I blurted out, watching as a vein in his forehead throbbed while he kept silently regarding me. He ended up huffing out a crackle before pointing at Kim.
"Kim’s presence here makes it appropriate for you." He explained and this time, I scoffed underneath my breath.
"But I don’t feel comfortable. I’d like to go back, please." I breathed out, heart pounding against my sides. Kim was massaging his forehead, a sour, almost frustrated look over his gorgeous face.
"Jules, please, don’t make this overly difficult. This could be over before you realize it." The principal snapped this time and I flinched, taken aback by the swift change of his tone. Moments later, Kim was beside me, arms wrapped around my shoulders in a hug, one which I pulled away from at once, feeling super uncomfortable.
"He’s just stressed out, Jules. Let’s just get this conversation over with, okay? What could it hurt?" Kim spoke this time but I wasn’t listening to him. Instead, I was looking around, trying to figure out if it would be possible to attract attention should I decide to create a scene.
However, the few people scattered around beside luxurious cars of various brands all seemed extremely well off, like people who minded their business and wouldn’t give two fucks about me.
Having no other choice, I accompanied Kim and the principal into the club, after confirming that my location was turned on. As one of the men in uniform led us deeper into the club, the low hum of music and dim lights filled the first floor, with bodies moving against each other.
We were led into an elevator which was headed for the fifth floor. As the elevator moved, I stood still, arms wrapped around my middle while watching the principal and Kim standing equally still. The principal broke the silence.
"Apologies for any inconvenience this might have caused." He breathed out. At this point, I didn’t see the point in hiding my displeasure, and so I scoffed.
"I don’t wanna be here. I’m being forced to." I blurted out and I noticed Kim’s left eye twitching once. The principal regarded me pointedly before shaking his head and letting out a soft laugh.
"Is that so?" He echoed out as the elevator doors slid open.
Kim stepped out first and I followed suit. He attempted to grab my arm but I pulled away.
"Don’t touch me, please. I don’t feel comfortable." I voiced out, watching as he sighed and raked his fingers through his hair. The principal stepped out and stopped beside me, and then he pointed down the hallway where we were currently standing in.
"We’re having the conversation in that room." He explained as he began to walk forward, stopping two doors away. I pursed my lips as I stared at said room, not knowing what was on the other side.
My heartbeat accelerated even more and I backtracked for the elevator, pressing all the buttons at once. The principal was beside me in a flash and I flinched.
"Jules, you can’t leave." He informed me flatly and the frightened feeling inside of me increased. "Not without us discussing the things which we discovered about you. Surely you’re curious, aren’t you? No one is forcing you to be here, but we need to have this conversation tonight. If it could have waited till tomorrow, we’d have waited."
I didn’t believe half of what he was saying. He said I wasn’t being forced to be here, but wouldn’t let me leave at the same time. But of course, I was undoubtedly curious about what they discovered about me.
Reluctantly, I accompanied them into the room, ready to put a call through to Andrian on noticing anything overly suspicious.
There was no one in the room. It wasn’t a bedroom like I had feared, it was like a mini club with a stage like setting with a stripper’s pole on it. At the other side, there was a set table and as soon as we sat around it, I was offered a drink, one which I declined, along with the offered food.
After a few tries of getting me to drink, the principal relented. He leaned forward and I braced myself for what he was about to reveal.
"Are you and Blaze fated mates?" He bluntly asked, a completely different question from what I expected.
"W- what?" I stuttered, blinking at him in confusion and suspicion because this was the second time he was asking me something relating to Blaze, questions which shouldn’t concern him as our principal.
"Why are you asking me that, sir?" I mumbled and I watched as Kim grimaced, hand massaging his throat.
"Just answer the question, Jules." He pressed and I pursed my lips.
"I- that’s a really personal question. I don’t think I want to respond to that." I announced. Kim was about to argue, but the principal shook his head and he snapped his mouth close.
"So, Jules. Can you please tell me the family you’re from? Nothing tangible came up after looking into your background." The principal said and I tensed up at once, heart pounding.
"What we got isn’t as backdated as it’s supposed to, so..." He trailed off, clearly indicating for me to start speaking.
My hands started to tremble and I awkwardly cleared my throat, completely at a loss of what to say right now.
"Can I use the restroom, please?" I whispered, rising to my feet at once. The principal hesitated at first before nodding.
"Don’t be long." He said and I nodded as I stepped into the restroom here in this private room.
Once in the restroom, I began to pace around, already freaking out.
"Fuck. Fuck. Fuck." I muttered underneath my breath as I frantically called Andrian’s number. However, the call was unanswered and my eyes widened in horror.
"Oh god. I’m so dead." I whispered over and over again, heart climbing into my throat.
I kept calling his number repeatedly, silently praying he’d answer it, but he didn’t.
A minute later, Kim knocked on the door, suggesting that I return back to the room.
"I’m really dead tonight." I silently swore as I hurriedly shot a text to Taylor and Josh, telling them that I was in trouble. Before I could type anything more, the door was flying open and Kim was motioning for me to step out.
My mouth fell open, heart pounding. I shoved my phone in my pocket and tried to buy more time to remain in the restroom, but Kim tugged me out of the restroom with a firm grip on my wrist. I tried getting out of his grip, but I was no match for his strength.
The principal was standing beside the table this time and as soon as Kim dropped my hand, he massaged his forehead and pointed at me.
"Do it already so I can fucking leave! This is stressing me out. I never wanted to be involved with all of this in the first place." He hurled at the principal who had on a blank expression.
A panicked scream tore past my throat and I spinned around, ready to flee. But the principal’s hand settled on my arm, jerking me around till I was facing him, and I screamed once again, engulfed with fright.
His eyes glowed even brighter this time and he tightly gripped my jaw, tilting my head till our eyes locked.
"You’ll sit down and drink the wine. You’ll not feel scared, worried or panicked anymore. You’ll do anything I ask you to." He growled, eyes glowing brighter, each word feeling like they were infused with a mystical force as they slowly washed over me.
After a few seconds, he dropped his hands and stepped away from me, regarding me wearily. Kim had a relieved look over his face as he stared at me.
I blinked once, twice before letting out a loud, ear piercing scream, while a look of horror and disbelief settled over the principal’s face, mouth hanging open. As I beelined for the door, I heard Kim frantically crying out.
"What the hell? Why isn’t he compelled?!"
"This has never happened before! How the fuck did he not get compelled?!" The principal thundered and as I frantically tried to get the door open, was when I realized that he had been trying to compel me moments ago.
And it clearly didn’t work.
But how?
Fuck.
