Chapter 196: Fairytale Zone 2
Jules’ pov
I wiggled my fingers again as the image of magic shooting from my fingers flashed against the front of my mind. That had really happened. Even though a lot of things are currently weird, I was very sure I hadn’t imagined that happening.
Or was it a trick of the light?
I stretched my hand forward and willed on a burst of magic, but nothing happened. I did it a few more times before letting out another frustrated sigh.
Had I really imagined that happening?
With another frustrated sigh, I sank down on the grass, folding my legs underneath my body. I wasn’t sure of what to do next, or how to get out ot this weird space whereby I was the only one in it.
I let my eyes fall close and then I inhaled slowly, forcing myself to stop thinking for a moment. Everything fell away from my mind, leaving a blank slate behind. With nothing else on my mind, because I had nothing else to do, I let myself go all the way to the middle of my chest where the gate of my magic was positioned at.
A gasp tore past my lips as soon as I realized that there was nothing blocking it. There was no blockage around it, and there as nothing keeping it from my reach.
Another gasp flew past my lips and I was on my feet in the next moment.
"What the fuck?!" I squeaked out, unable to believe what I had just discovered. I nudged at the middle of my chest once again and like before, there was nothing keeping me away from the pulsing energy that had a heartbeat of its own.
I had completely forgotten what that felt like.
Warmth began to spread through my insides in the next moment, filling up every inch of my veins along with lung. The warmth began to increase in volumes after a fleeting second, taking up all the space inside of me till it became unbearable. It was almost like as soon as I became aware of the fact that my magic wasn’t locked away any longer, it began to build up within my entire insides in the waves.
I began to breathe in and out, trying to will the warmth away because it was really getting unbearable, but it only seemed to be growing even stronger and stronger within my inside. I began to scratch my arms and claw at my chest while fright began to grow within me, I was undoubtedly starting to scared because something like this has never happened to me before, so I didn’t know what to make of this.
I dropped to my knees, letting out painful gasps because at this point, I was burning up from the inside. It was like the warmth of magic which began to spread through my inside was currently scalding my insides.
I let out a scream at a point, desperate for all of this to stop. The warmth grew in waves till I was screaming painfully, till I was gasping and crying into the grass which I was currently haunched over.
The entire warmth began to push at the surface of my skin and chest, and the pain intensified in the next moment. When I let out an ear splitting scream, it felt like the warmth burst out from me just as everything blacked out around me.
I wasn’t sure if that lasted for security or minutes... or hours, because it felt like an eternity to me.
When I slowly blinked my eyes open, a surprised gasp escaped my throat as my eyes wandered around.
The sky was a pretty mixture of white and blue, and beautiful, green trees were positioned in different angles. I noticed a few butterflies around and I let out another gasp as I slowly got to my feet, because I realized that I was no longer in pain. The excurenting feeling of warmth was complete gone, and all I could feel in my chest was a low buzz.
I walked forward, around curves of beautiful white roses which I caressed with my fingers as I walked past, till I took a turn and noticed a waterfall so beautiful, it felt so unreal.
I felt my heart squeeze tight in my chest as I walked forward, heading straight for the waterfall. Once in front of it, my reflection stared back at me and I let out a gasp and took an abrupt step backward.
I tentatively stepped forward, and once my reflection stared back at me again, my legs almost gave out from underneath my body from the amount of shock coursing through my veins.
My hands shook as I reached for my hair which was no longer dyed black in color, nor were the length short. Right now, my reflection had a head full of blond hair which glistened in the sun. The hair framed my face, the curls way softer than I remembered when I reached for it.
I was clad in a white outfit as well and I glanced down at it, my breath catching in my throat at how pretty the outfit was. It was satin and so bright that I wondered how that was possible.
How is this happening though?
None of this was making any bit of sense.
I stared at my fingers and wiggled them a little, and then I tried summoning my magic.
To my utmost surprise, my magic surged in my right arm and bursted out from the tips of my fingers.
I squealed joyfully as I kept looking at the ball of magic hovering above my fingertips and after a few moments, I stretched the hand in front of me and directed the magic forward, watching as it flew straight ahead before exploding in pretty, little sparkles. I let out an awed gasp and willed on my magic again, and this time, I imagined the sky being filled up with more butterflies. When the magic shot into the sky, in the next moment, a large amount of pretty butterflies appeared, blending beautifully with the atmosphere.
I couldn’t believe I had done that. I had just imagined it happening and it had happened. That was something I was never able to do back when I still had full access to my magic, but now I had gotten it in one try.
People with magic aren’t born with the ability to do anything with it, they’d have to learn how to control their magic and put it to use as they grow older. The fact that I had just done that was still unbelievable to me.
A rustling sound from behind made me turn around and everything inside of me went standstill, heartbeat accelerating in the next moment as my eyes zeroed in on Blaze. He stood tall, dark hair falling into his eyes and around his face. He was staring in a direct direction and was yet to see me. How did he get here? I’m completely unable to tell, but I could feel relief bloom within my chest at the fact that he’s the next person here after myself.
His scent was what hit me next, the familiar woody, sandalwood scent drifting into my lungs and making my knees wobble a little.
I exhaled slowly as I began to make my way to him, and he didn’t notice me until I was standing a few feet away, making my breath hitch in my throat when our eyes locked. I felt a small shiver engulfed me as his eyes slowly raked over my frame, and I didn’t stop until I was a few inches away from him.
He was clad in all black, a dark color which contrasted heavily with the bright color I was currently dressed in.
His eyes raked over my body again, zeroing in on my face and for a moment, detected a hint of unfamiliarity and confusion in his eyes, which in turn made me confused.
Doesn’t he recognize me? I thought within myself, a bitter feeling settling on my tongue as our eyes locked again.
Before I could call out his name or do anything else, something began to push at the inside of my throat. It felt like a warm ball, pushing forward as if fighting for release. I didn’t understand what that meant and tried swallowing a few times, but the lumpy feeling only continued to grow heavier in my throat.
I didn’t know what to do. Blaze was still staring at me, almost like he doesn’t recognize me and that was seriously threatening to break me right now.
Without thinking about anything else, I willed on the magic within me and imagined myself flying. I’ve never been able to do that before, only my mother had been able to do that in our family. I didn’t even expect it to work, I just decided to follow a feeling since the time I summoned butterflies, they appeared.
However, in the next second, I felt myself being levitated off the ground. The movement completely caught me off guard. One moment my feet were on the ground and the next, they were in the air.
I wasn’t the one controlling myself any longer, I didn’t understand what was happening. But I was in the air, closer to Blaze than I was before, and a little bit taller than Blaze in this position, which made him have to tilt his head a little in order for him to keep looking at me.
I watched him glance at my feet floating in the air and I did the same, realizing that sparkly dusts were falling off my feet, silver colored dusts which reminded me of fairy dusts.
When his eyes locked with mine again, the expanding, heavy lump in my throat multiplied in waves till stretched my head towards him and parted my mouth and a few words escaped before I could stop it.
"You’re my fated mate."
The lump vanished from my throat after that, but before I could say or do anything, an invisible force suddenly materialized and engulfed me, completely pulling me into thick darkness.
I screamed, but the sound was muted.
