Chapter 143: Ride
Jules’ pov
I averted my gaze and hurriedly walked forward, tuning out the curious looks the people present were throwing at us. It was like Blaze noticed because he also heightened his footsteps and in no time, he was holding the door of the now familiar car for me.
"Hey gorgeous." Roy called out from the front and I found myself smiling a little. He turned around and winked at me.
"Hello, Roy." I breathed out just as Blaze slid in beside me.
"Aw, you still remember my name!" He called out just and I blinked in confusion.
"Was I not supposed to?" I asked and he shrugged as he turned the key in the ignitor.
"Most people don’t, so I was surprised. This just made me like you even more, for your information." He announced and I giggled, a pleased feeling running through my insides.
Blaze grunted beside me just as his hand settled on my thigh.
"Stop talking to him and fucking drive, Roy." Blaze growled and I bit on my bottom lip because Blaze sounded irritated or annoyed, but Roy only snickered and rolled his eyes.
"Why? You jealous or scared I’d steal your boy from you?" Roy drawled, clearly completely unfazed at the glare Blaze was throwing at him right now.
Which left me thinking of the little conversation we had about Roy when he was helping me into my shoes. When I said they’re friends but he denied it.
"Just ignore him, he’s a nuisance." Blaze said to me as his hand snaked around my waist, which he used to pull me closer.
"I don’t think he’s being a nuisance, I think he’s pretty cool." I breathed out, head slowly getting tilted because he was nosing down the side of my throat right now.
"See? Now that’s someone with taste!" Roy called out from the front seat as he pulled out of the spot he packed in. I found myself laughing along to how goofy he was currently acting.
Blaze grunted against my throat and I giggled, absently wondering if he was really feeling a little jealous because I was interacting with his friend Roy, whom he’s always quick to deny as his friend.
Blaze’s hands began to slide underneath my shirt once again and I exhaled slowly and bit at the inside of my cheek as I tried to shove his hands away because I’d rather not get aroused right now.
"Oh don’t stop on my account, just pretend like I’m not here!" Roy called out and I blushed all the way to my roots and this time, Blaze chuckled.
"Shut the hell up, Roy." Blaze called out as he thankfully removed his hands from my shirt, but still kept them wrapped around my waist.
My head was currently resting against his shoulder and in this position, I could breathe in his scent whenever I inhale and exhale.
My mind was still on the encounter I had with Landon. I didn’t know if I was supposed to bring it up with Blaze or not. The entire conversation, especially the threats, has refused to leave my mind and it’s been over two hours now.
I had thought meeting up with him was gonna help things become clearer to him. Instead, it left me with more things to think, worry and stress over.
I was still deep in thought when I felt Blaze squeeze my waist a little just as he began to speak.
"You alright, bunny?"
His voice was soft and when I glanced at him, he continued. "I noticed you and Taylor’s little exchange as we exited the elevator."
"Oh." I mumbled, understanding why he asked if I was alright, I had told him I had a little fight with Taylor. I didn’t go into details because it involved him in a way, and because I’d prefer to hear the reason why Taylor was so against him from Taylor himself.
I nodded twice before leaning against his shoulder again.
"Yeah, I am. It just sucks, you know?"
Blaze squeezed around my waist a few times in encouragement.
"I know, bunny. I know."
We fell silent until the car slowed to a stop after about thirty minutes. When I peered at Blaze, he explained our reason for stopping.
"We’re picking Kim up. There’s a lot we all have to talk about."
"Oh." I breathed out as I sat up. I had kind of forgotten about Kim, about how he was supposed to work with us and protect me.
We waited for a few minutes until I noticed Kim approaching, walking like he was on a runway, and his outfit turning heads— literally.
I’d never admit this to him, but he was such an inspiration. The sheer way he carried himself is nothing but admirable. He wasn’t rude and overly too much like Landon. He had this classy and natural aura around him, like he was born this way, and that’s why he’s considered an icon in school.
He finally got to the car and pulled the front door open before sliding into the seat. He pulled off his sunglasses next and shook his hair out of his face before throwing a look at the back seat where Blaze and I were seated.
"Apologies for being late."
Blaze scoffed beside me before leaning forward and pulling on Kim’s ear.
"And if I rip this ear off, then what? You were supposed to be here five minutes ago, and you come in here like you ordered an Uber or something.
Kim let out little ows sounds before Blaze finally let go of his ear.
"I’m sorry, I really am! I was taking care of something." He explained, a frown on his face as he massaged his reddened ear.
"I don’t care. Don’t keep me waiting next time." Blaze snapped in response before leaning back once again.
I exhaled slowly, suddenly feeling awksrdc, like I wasn’t supposed to make a sound.
Roy didn’t seem to share in my worries before he beamed at Kim and held a hand out.
"Hey, I’m Roy."
A broad smile appeared across Kim’s face as he accepted the hand, like he wasn’t just in pain moments ago.
"Hi sugar. I’m Kim!"
