Caspian almost gave in and grabbed a jacket for Asher regardless, worried about the Alpha.

He settled on an oversized hoodie that he knew would fit Asher if it came down to it. It was early summer but it could still get cold.

Caspian could see the amusement on Asher’s face when he stepped out of the closet but the Alpha said nothing.

He kept a poker face as he struggled to push up the way-too-long sleeves so that he could use his hands, walking up to Asher.

"Are you ready to leave?" Asher asked patiently.

Caspian pushed his hand through the sleeves for the umpteenth time, "Yes," He agreed steadily, leading the way out when Asher opened the door.

When they stepped out of the mansion, they got worried looks from the guards but no words were said as they strolled through the side gate.

"Where is safe to walk to?" Caspian asked when they were past the gates.

"I own the woods that surround the mansion." Asher casually replied, "It’s all safe."

Maybe because he had lived on crumbs for the later part of his teenage years but he often had a hard to processing how wealthy Asher was.

He also forgot how much he should have if everything hadn’t been taken from him.

There was a long stretch of road that ran across the front of the mansion. They walked in the direction away from the mansion and the city.

It was a cold night and even with his big sweater, Caspian could feel it, his cheeks reddening.

"How are you not cold?" He accused Asher, his eyes narrowed.

Asher shrugged, "I am."

Caspian self-righteous anger fell away at his surprising admission, worry replacing it.

"You’re cold? W-Wait..." He stopped dead in his tracks to take his sweater off.

"What are you doing?" Asher asked curiously.

Caspian paused, already taking off the sweater, the long sleeves covering his hands again. "Giving you my sweater because you’re cold?"

Asher’s face twitched from how hard he held back laughter. Between them, the only person shivering was Caspian.

It wasn’t even that cold but his breath was steamy, his lips pale and his nose red.

"That... I was teasing," He admitted, his lips pressed together.

Caspian took a good look at Asher now, the moon was bright enough to provide light.

The Mafia King looked perfectly fine, his tanned skin glowing healthily.

His eyes narrowed, slowly straightening up. He had been so worried about the Alpha too.

And all he did was get betrayed, Asher doing a bad job of keeping his laughter in.

He smacked Asher with his sweater paws, "I hope it rains," He muttered bitterly, smacking him again.

"Wait... Wait," Asher tried to get him to stop, "Why are you so mad?"

The hits didn’t hurt and an upset Caspian was adorable but he was still confused about what he had done wrong.

"Hmph." Caspian stuck up his nose in the air and walked ahead, planning to ignore Asher.

His plan folded in on itself when he tripped, flailing around for a bit in his oversized sweater.

Asher breaking down in laughter some distance behind didn’t help, making him go back just to smack the Alpha a couple more times.

That just made Asher laugh harder. They were far enough from the mansion now that it felt like it was just the two of them alone for miles.

His one-sided beat down was abruptly interrupted by a shower of rain, his eyes wide in disbelief as his face and hair got wet.

"No way," He whispered to Asher, his eyes sparkling.

Caspian couldn’t believe he called it. The mansion was too far to make a run for it, and the rain came down heavily without even a build-up.

Asher caught his wrist and pulled him off the road, he stopped underneath a tree and pulled him close so that they were pressed up against each other.

Although, it was dark and raining all around them, Caspian’s smile didn’t dim as he looked up at Asher.

"Are you cold now?" He asked deviously, eager to get points.

Asher mimicked his expression, resting against the trunk of the tree they stood under. "Your teeth are chattering."

Caspian held Asher tighter, wishing he could climb inside the Alpha’s heated skin. "We’re not talking about me.’"

The falling rain made it a little difficult to hold a conversation, a few drops getting to them through the foliage of the tree.

Caspian looked up at Asher when he went silent, a little startled to find his face closer than he expected.

He got on his tip-toes to close the distance between them, hearing nothing but the pouring rain around them.

He closed his eyes because there was little to see, focusing on the warmth of Asher’s skin and the taste of his lips.

Arousal kept the cold at bay, Caspian slowly starting to overheat the longer the kiss went on.

Flashing lights interrupted them, the sound of a long drawn-out car horn sending them springing apart.

The was a car on the road just in front of them, and Caspian didn’t need to see the driver to know that it was Jael who had come to pick them up.

The Beta turned on the car’s interior lights regardless, waiting patiently for them to come over so that he could take them back to the warm, dry mansion.

Asher pulled Caspian back into his arms, flipping Jael off. He was content to remain out here but he doubted that Caspian would like that.

The Omega was shivering once more, his skin cooling.

That was the only reason he took Caspian’s wrist and dashed for the car, getting in the back seat with him.

"There are blankets in the back seat," Jael said flatly, returning to the mansion.

Asher didn’t hesitate to bundle Caspian up, the blankets covering the lower part of his face so he couldn’t even protest.

He eyed the back of Jael’s head, waiting for the other shoe to drop. He could see a scolding coming from a mile away.
