Captive Mate BL -

Chapter 72: +Chapter 72+
"We’re going to need more information from you if we’re going through with this," Jael decided when no other protests were forthcoming.
Caspian was right, this was the quickest way to get any information.
Warren Reeves was clearly not going to stop looking for Caspian, they couldn’t just keep the Omega indoors forever.
"Right," Caspian agreed quietly, this was long overdue.
"You already heard Alpha Warren say I was mated to his son, Noah," He decided to rip off the toughest band-aid, shooting Asher a tentative look.
"It’s superficial. I wasn’t given a choice, as soon as we both turned eighteen they orchestrated a mating ceremony. I knew it was just a cover-up for Alpha Warren to keep being the Alpha."
"Noah couldn’t stand me, and he made sure to let me know as often as possible that he wasn’t gay."
"I wasn’t even interested in the position of Alpha, I’ve never been but they’d keep me locked up in the Pack House, I wasn’t allowed to leave."
Now that he was saying it out loud to an audience Caspian realized just how fucked up the life he had been living was.
He had just sucked it up and endured because there was no one to complain to, but it really hadn’t been fair.
He still wasn’t interested in being the heir but regardless, he would still get to the bottom of the matter.
Even if it meant that he had to fight for his birthright to uncover the truth.
"And do you think Alpha Warren would have any reason to orchestrate the accident?" Jael asked carefully, "Well, besides the obvious."
Caspian frowned, "I don’t... I’m not sure. My dad wasn’t from Moonstone so a lot of people didn’t approve of his mating with my mom which made him the new Alpha after my grandparents passed away."
"We’ll have to track down the coroner and the auto repair that handled the car wreck," Jael mused taking very of Caspian revelations in stride, "I can handle that but the most important part is breaking into Warren’s study to find whatever we can."
"I’ll have to leave that to you too," He foisted on them, matching Asher’s narrowing stare head-on.
"You’ll both be VIPs so it’ll be easier for you to get close enough to Warren to get that done," He went right on.
"What do we need to find out?" Caspian asked seriously.
"I can’t say," Jael hummed, "It’d be dumb to expect incriminating proof to just be sitting on Warren’s personal computer."
"Documents dating back to the time of the accident," Asher spoke up, "We’ll need to make copies of them as well as copies of Caspian’s records."
"Right," Jael agreed, "I’ll reach out to Warren to accept his invite, and then I’ll make the arrangements," He got to his feet, walking out with his phone out.
Caspian let out a sigh, sinking into Asher’s arms. The entire day had been such a rollercoaster ride.
"Are you alright?" Asher hummed, lacing their hands together.
"I will be," Caspian said confidently.
He had wanted nothing more than to be far away from Moonstone, but he had been running away from more than his pack.
He had also been running away from his parents. He was unable to face it, he had never returned to their graves after the funeral.
Caspian lived chronically in the moment, with the mentality of just getting through the day.
But ignoring his pain didn’t fix them, and the need for justice was the perfect motivation for him to face the things necessary.
"Did you expect me to say something about your mating?" Asher asked when they were back in his room.
The show had been left running, unfamiliar faces on the screen.
"I wanted you to hear it from me first," Caspian said, self-consciously staring at his feet. "I didn’t mean to deceive you-"
"Do you think I’m a good person, Caspian?" Asher tipped up his head.
Caspian stared up at him in turn, "I’m not that slow-"
Asher cut him off with a short kiss, chuckling, "I couldn’t care less about your mate. You’re mine."
Caspian couldn’t dispute that even if he wanted to, not with the way Asher possessively held his face and stared down at him.
The Alpha could ask him to do anything right now and he wouldn’t think twice about doing it.
The moment was broken by a character on the screen speaking, Caspian’s eyes going wide.
"I told you she was the killer," He bunched the black fabric of Asher’s sleeveless tank in his hands, pulling the Alpha closer.
His excitement dimmed at the parallel between his words and what they had just spoken about, his hands pressed flat against Asher’s chest.
Asher didn’t hesitate to turn the screen off, "We should do something else," He suggested lightly.
"A walk," Caspian blurted out.
It had been so long since he could freely walk outside, even after leaving Moonstone, he still wasn’t allowed such basic privileges.
The one time he went on a walk he had gotten kidnapped... it seemed like he would never have a quiet life.
Well maybe a quiet one was asking for too much considering that he hooked up with a Mafia King, but he would at least like some freedom.
"Sure," Asher agreed, his voice quiet in the way that showed that he was concerned.
Caspian watched the Alpha start for the door in nothing but a tank and sweatpants, "Aren’t you going to take a jacket?" He asked in disbelief.
"It’s just a short walk," Asher defended, amusement in his gold eyes.
Caspian’s outfit had long sleeves but he still very much intended to get a jacket. "Right, don’t ask for mine when you get cold," He said dryly, getting a jacket for himself.
Asher waited for him with an absent smile, it was kind of nice not to be a Mafia King all the time.
In the moments when he had harmless squabbles with Caspian, he could completely forego the persona he had.
