Caspian woke up alone but considering that bright sunlight was already streaming in, it wasn’t too surprising.

It was more surprising that he hadn’t woken up in the afternoon. He got out of bed to clean up, having a difficult time keeping the memories from the night before at bay.

Caspian was already standing in front of his designated closet before he realized that he actually had no clothes to wear.

"Can I talk to Jael?" He asked tentatively.

Caspian had no idea if it was even possible but he had to try regardless.

The maid who had picked up the phone stuttered a bit before asking him to hold on for a moment.

He did as he was told, his blood pressure spiking. How exactly was he supposed to explain things to Jael? Was it going to be his fault if he got pregnant and Asher didn’t want it?

"Caspian?" Jael’s voice interrupted his thoughts, his frown visible in his voice.

"Jael, hi," He replied awkwardly, fiddling with the ties on his robe. "Sorry to bother you when you’re so busy, it’s fine if you don’t have the time to talk..."

"Just get on with it," Jael cut off his rambling, voice dry.

"I think I’m pregnant." He blurted out

"What?" Jael replied just as abruptly. "That’s impossible."

The Beta’s confident tone should have been enough to reassure him but he went right on, "B-But... last night..."

"Spare me the details," He cut in, sounding a little spooked. "The auction requires applicants to be on inhibitors, don’t you remember..." He started to ask and then cut himself off.

"Actually, nevermind," Jael muttered. "So you’re fine, for a while."

"Ah okay," Caspian simply responded.

Jael was so clinical that he didn’t even feel embarrassed, it was like talking to a doctor about it.

It was a good thing he had spoken to him first, it would be doubly embarrassing to learn this from Asher.

"Um, could I also trouble you to ask someone to get my clothes from the apartment I stayed in?"

"Fine," Jael answered impatiently, "Have any more requests to make of me?"

"No, sorry-"

Jael already hung up before he could get his apology out, but it didn’t taint Caspian’s relief.

"You didn’t request for a meal but it’s already noon, and you haven’t eaten," The maid scolded him as she pushed the tray in.

It was the lady who brought him to this room on his first night here. He could never tell if she liked him or not.

"S-Sorry," He apologized nervously, rising to his feet.

She huffed at his response, placing a hand on her waist. "The boss has a lot of clothes, you’ll catch a cold if you wear that silk robe all day."

Caspian watched her walk off, he had no intention of wearing the robe all day but now he felt like he had to put on something at least.

He made his way to the closet and picked a dress shirt at random, frankly, he couldn’t see the difference between the robe and the shirt.

If anything, the silk robe fit him better. The dress shirt was literally a dress on him, the sleeves long enough to cover his hands.

The maid probably meant well but there was no way he could eat with Asher’s shirt on.

So why wasn’t he taking the shirt off? Instead, he rolled up the sleeves, loathe to take off the Alpha’s clothes.

Even when the clothes that had been bought for him were brought, he didn’t change out of it.

Although it was freshly laundered, and with how many clothes Asher had, probably brand new, if he breathed in deeply enough, he felt like he could catch a whiff of the Alpha’s smoky scent.
